Katherine knew about bad breakups. She had been in love with Thomas Culpeper and the jerk had sold her up the river. She had generally loved Henry too, though maybe as a father-figure more than a husband, and he had killed her in revenge.
Slowly she pulled her coat back on, though she didn't do it up. She didn't want Richard to think she wasn't actually listening. She wasn't the smartest person, nor was she all that verbal, but she could show compassion and empathy. "Breakup suck," she said softly. She went to take his hand and she pulled him to a couch so they could both sit down.
"Maybe there isn't a war out there to go run off and fight in, but sounds like there's a war in here," he pointed to her own heart. "And it's probably not good to ignore it. I mean...Kristen Stewart broke Robert Pattinson's heart but he still did all those talk shows..."
