Zoe looked at him when he said that. He was going to stay? She smiled at him, the fear in her eyes fading some, something much softer replacing it. She wanted to say thank you but it seemed like such a small thing to say. Instead she just nodded and let go of his hand, walking over to the couch to give him some privacy.
She kicked off her shoes and turned on the TV at a low volume to have something to distract her thoughts while she waited for him. She curled up on the couch, pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them.
