He sat down beside her, pretending that her face didn't completely disgust him. He could feel her heartbeat practically leap out of her chest when he took her hand into his lap.
He wouldn't spend another listless night seated in front of the television or listening to music. They'd kissed, made a few advances, but in the end physically Echo was a distant body. Narcissus needed to feel desired, just her presence alone didn't make him feel that way. It was abusing her in the end, but Narcissus would never be able to think of anyone but himself.
