Jackie followed with interest, wondering what it was their father was going to reveal to them. Maybe he was just officially handing the metaphorical keys over to his children. Dmitri sat in his chair, elbows resting on his desk with his fingers just touching as he watched his little family sit down. When they were all settled he waved a hand at the door and someone in the hallway closed it as two rather large men in black suits stepped inside behind each of his children.
Jackie turned and looked up at the big, burly guy behind her and made a face as she looked at Dominic. Her expression basically said What the fuck?! and she looked back to her father who started speaking. "Dominic, Jacqueline," she cringed at the sound of her full name, his accent was also much more evident now that he spoke more, "meet your bodyguards. They have been tasked with watching over the pair of you for the last several years. Boris is the one who called the police when you were nearly run over," he said directly to Jackie who just looked shocked. "They watch you because of my work. And my work is by no means safe. It is very dangerous and needs much attention. There are many under my power, doing whatever I tell them. I say jump, they say 'how high'." He looked amused at his own joke but Jackie was starting to get a little freaked out.
"Would you like to guess what it is I do?" he asked them both. Jackie just shook her head because she was starting to have a pretty damn good idea and she didn't want to say. So she nudged Dominic sharply.
