WHO: Angrboda & Hel, open to Fenrir and Jormungandr
WHEN: Thursday evening
WHERE: Hel's apartment
WHAT: Monster babies and their momma meet again

The last few months had been spent tracking her children from afar, sending mortals that didn't have her scent to follow them. Not all of those mortals had returned results to her and Angrboda could only assume that one or more of her children had killed them. In a way that pleased her because it meant they were taking care of themselves, and nothing could be traced back to Angrboda; she'd made sure of that.

But the time had come to reveal herself. She closed up her butchery in Illinois and moved to a building it Brooklyn, well laid plans all falling into place once she arrived. She had to admit curiosity at how long it would take her children to find her, but she wanted to go find them herself. It had been a very long time.

When the door of Hel's apartment was answered it was by a beautiful dark-haired woman, a perplexed look on her features as she stared at Angrboda. She looked as though she was trying to say something so Angrboda spoke first. "What are you wearing?" she asked her daughter. "That face, take it off."

Half of Hel's visage dissolved, leaving behind the maggot-ridden corpse flesh. Angrboda smiled and nodded. "That's much better. Aren't you going to invite me in?"

Hel still hadn't spoken, but she stepped back from the door and pulled it wide open. The giantess watched her as she entered, considering this woman her little girl had grown into. They stood of a height, neither of them short women. Hel had been young when they'd taken her away, still a child, and Angrboda had often wondered about what sort of woman she would become. The boys had been older, people in their own right - to use the word people loosely. She had gotten a chance to know them properly, but little Hel had only ever been little Hel, still a thing that needed to be raised and taught and protected.

"Mother?" was the first word Hel finally said, a question that she already knew the answer to.

Angrboda just smiled.

Jormungandr had scented the not so new visitor rather easily. He remembered his mother well. They'd been raised oddly to humans but to Jormungandr they'd had the most normal of childhoods, and the happiest.

When he'd grown under the sea, he'd often spend reminiscing about it all.

Too happy to remember he was in human shape he walked into the room with a grin. "Mother."

The man was unfamiliar in shape but by feel he was one of her own. She considered the descriptions her spies had returned to her of the children and knew who she was speaking to. "Eilítillsormr," was how she greeted him. Little snake, that old childhood term of endearment for a snake that had never been all that little even when he was born.

"You look very strange," she informed with with a small amount of amusement.

He laughed and stepped closer, "yes. I know." He looked at Hel, who had had concerns before and smiled at her. He set his hand on her shoulder and kept beside his little sister.

Then he studied his mother, still pleased to find her here. "It is good seeing you Mother. Welcome to our home." He tilted his head, figuring she'd want to know things. "Father is here. As is Odin-son."

Hel watched the meeting between the two of them, trying to work out the situation for herself. But her brother was smiling and happy to see Angrboda, so it was probably okay.

"Thor and Loki," Angrboda sighed. "I'm sure that'll be fun for everyone. Has Loki made any attempt to speak to any of you yet?"

"Fenrir lives here as well?" Angrboda asked them, looking around. "I know he has a forest he hunts with Hati and Skoll, but does he stay here too? Not a big place for wolf and snake."

He shrugged, unconcerned about the rivalry between his father and the god who would kill him. "No, but I know that he has Odin-son's hammer." He'd not be able to speak half of this in the language he was learning, but here at home he could always speak the language of his home.

He nodded, "yes and we do not need a big place. I don't like being far from them. They are teaching me of this world and the language of the mortals.." then he grinned, "I've made a friend even. A creature, much like me. She seems nice."

Loki had the hammer? Now that did interest her. The hammer was a powerful item and right now it possessed more magic than it must have done since the days of Asgard. She saw it on posters, and saw plastic versions in toy stores. She heard people with not a hint of knowledge about her people use the word mjolnir. Suddenly Thor and his hammer were common knowledge and Angrboda liked that. She may have no longer believed in the truth of Ragnarok, but she believed in power still.

"He came to visit us," Hel said, joining the conversation for the first time. "But that was a while ago."

"I'm sure he'll find you all again when it serves his purpose." (Not that Angrboda was one to speak there. She had birthed these children to gain herself traction in the world and taught them from a young age that only she was to be trusted, that anyone not them was the enemy, and to be wary of anything given without an obvious price. Yes, Angrboda cared for them, but her children were still tools to her, and in their youth there had been violent punishments for misbehavior as well as proud affection when it had been earned.)

"It's good that you all stay together," Angrboda said with a nod. "You're stronger as a three, you always have been. Even old Wôdan knew that." She had raised an eyebrow at her serpent son's last comment and looked mildly entertained, "a creature like you? Ah, but not so beautiful in her scales, I'm sure." She couldn't really get used to this human form on him. It looked so wrong and unattractive. Her children had always been the most beautiful creatures and this world had changed them.

Fenrir had left the apartment to get more food. It was half shopping (as Hel gave him money to buy things sometimes) and half shoplifting, but regardless, he returned home with several shopping bags of food. He paused at the foot of the stairs leading to Hel's floor, sniffing the air.

Angrboda.

He tilted his head, gripped the bags of food a little tighter, and ascended the stairs.

"Mother," he said, pushing open the door to Hel's apartment with his hip.

He shrugged, not really understanding beauty. He wasn't vain. He just knew he was powerful, and it had nothing to do with how he looked. "I don't know. She's nice enough." He was happy enough knowing there were similar things like him around. They stayed out of his ocean and he'd be happy with them.

When Fenris arrived he felt like there was a strain. He didn't understand it. He was missing something.

He released Hel to walk to his brother and take the bags. He rarely ate the food they bought (too little and he preferred prey he could kill himself) but he always helped.

'eilítillvargr' is little wolf

And now here was her eldest, her all-powerful wolf-child. This one two wore human skin, but she thought she could see something canine in his eyes still.

"Just as I was talking about the fortune of the three of you being together," Angrboda said to him, "my eilítillvargr appears. Dressed like a man, I see, but you still smell wolf."

Fenrir handed the bags off to Jormungandr, leaning up against his brother's side briefly in greeting.

"Humans smell like soap and fruit," Fenrir said. He leaned forward and rested his chin atop her shoulder for a moment. It was somewhere between a wolf's greeting and a hug. "Good to see you are alive."

He glanced to his brother, "they do?" He couldn't really smell as much as he could 'sense' them through his own ways and he was always curious to know more about the odd creatures. "I just see their shape."

With a smile he dug through the bags, happy to set everything aside. Now he was finally used to the odd limbs he was happy to be more efficient with them.

Angrboda didn't hug Fenrir when he pressed against her, instead rubbing her head against him softly, a wolf-like nuzzling. "This world couldn't kill me," Angrboda assured him.

Drawing back from Fenrir she took in all three of them properly. "You don't always look like this, do you?" she asked her sons with a frown. Hel it seemed could pass among the mortals but she stood there now looking as perfect to Angrboda as she always had done.

Half-smiling, Fenrir reached out to tap his brother's nose. "Course you only see them, with this useless thing."

He moved to lean against Hel in greeting as well, not bothered by the dead skin. "I can become a wolf. Smaller than the way I should be, but still more me than this body."

"Good," Angrboda nodded, glad to hear that he hadn't been completely ruined by this world. "Alright, I'm not really here to chat and catch up today, just letting you know I'm keeping an eye out." From her pocket she drew out a business card and passed it to Hel, the one that was supposed to have hands.

Hel looked at the card with a small frown of confusion, tilting it so that both her brothers could also see it. It was for a butchery in Brooklyn and had the name Ylva Gull written below it.

Angrboda pointed at the card. "That's my shop. I know you're hunting in a forest not far out of the city, but if things get scarce in the winter then drop by."
