Sphinx figured she had it pretty easy. Despite her dislike for the answerer, living in the shop got her a roof, and plenty of food. He didn't seem to mind the fact she ate some of his customers.
Unlike him, Sphinx had no concerns. She wished to see her parents and siblings of course but every day was much the same. And when one was old and cat-like those were the only concerns that mattered anymore.
When the small feline mewed at her face she opened her eyes from her nap. She liked the small thing. Close to home, and they both delighted in toying with their food and giving Oedipus a hard time.
Yawning she licked the small feline and batted it's head before stretching and rising. She made her way to where Oedipus was laying and tipped her head, looking down at him and grinning. "If you break me I do not stop working, if you touch me I may be snared, if you lose me nothing will matter." She always started with a riddle because there could be that one day where he wouldn't answer, or answer wrong, and she'd get to eat him. One could hope.
