Who: Kyle, Monique, & Homonoia What: Catching up, and surprises! When: Thursday afternoon, August 10, 2011 Where: Kyle's place
Ever since finding out that gods and immortals had existed, Monique had been hitting up the internet, trying to figure out who might be in the city, and who she would do well to avoid. As a result, she hadn't really left V's very much, except for grocery runs, and when she absolutely had to leave her room.
It was while she was in one of those moods that she called up Kyle, telling him that she was coming over and bringing cookies, because he was far too skinny, and also because she wanted to have a chat. So she stopped at an awesome bakery she'd stumbled across, then made her way over to Kyle's. Ringing the bell, she balanced the box in her arms, waiting for the door to open.
[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-10 04:01 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Kyle had been keeping busy and sticking his nose out of the Greek situation like Mona had asked him. The last time he'd gotten involved unintentionally, and he wasn't sure he could take his stomach being pumped again because Dionysus felt getting him drunk.
It was his day off today, so when Monique called he was happy to entertain, though the apartment was a mess. He'd been picking up some old pizza boxes and chip bags when she rang the bell.
"Nicky!" he said with an excited smile.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-10 04:07 pm UTC (link) Track This Homonoia had been silent long enough. It was time to check in on Kyle, if mainly because she needed a breath of fresh air. She gave no notice, no call, and if she happened to stop by while he was out she had a note ready to slip under his door.
When she arrived she found the door already open and another woman standing outside. Her first instinct was to hold the woman down and check her identity, when she she realized she was mortal she breathed a sigh of relief. She smiled to Kyle when she saw his face, feeling a little awkward at arriving just as someone was coming... or going? She wasn't sure.

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-10 04:13 pm UTC (link) Track This "Hey you!" she said with a grin, pulling him into a one-armed hug. "I have cookies, and they are warm and delicious."
She noticed he was looking at someone behind her, and turned until she noticed the other woman. "Oh, hello!" she said. "I'm not interrupting, am I? I can always come back later, I just didn't know anyone else was coming by."

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-10 04:24 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Kyle tossed the boxes into the trash and gave Monique a hug. He could smell the cookies in the box, already craving one. He'd just opened it about to take a bite of a chocolate chip when he noticed Homonia. His eyes went a little wide from excitement and surprise.
"No, no it's all good." He grinned running his hand on the back of his neck. "Monique this is Mona, my girlfriend. Mona this is my cousin. She's V's sister." He stepped over to shut the door giving Mona a quick kiss. "I didn't know you were coming," he said softly.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-10 04:28 pm UTC (link) Track This She was about to answer when Kyle answered for her. She smiled to Monique this time, "Oh, it's nice to meet you. I was just... checking up on Kyle." She looked from Monique to Kyle, giving him a quick look over. So far he seemed to be alright and that was really what she wanted to check up on.
For the moment she had no idea that Monique knew about the immortals so she was being extremely careful about what she said. "You're okay?" She asked, feeling like she was being too sneaky about all of this.

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-10 04:36 pm UTC (link) Track This "You too," Monique replied, feeling a bit like a third wheel. But at Mona's next words, her gaze flashed over to Kyle. "You in some kind of trouble? Or...sick, or something?" she asked, worried.
Flustered a bit, she turned to Mona and asked, "Cookie?" She held out the box. Maybe it was a bit stupid, but it was familiar territory, and she could use a bit of that right now.

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-10 06:51 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I'm fine," he assured Mona with a quirky smile and his arm around her waist. He gave her another quick kiss.
He moved his arm after Monique offered cookies, going to grab for the chocolate chip again. "No, no, I'm fine. Just this mess with the Greeks an' all." He grinned somewhat surprised as if he'd forgotten that Monique actually knew.
"Oh yeah, Mona, Nicky knows, so..." his voice trailed off hoping she wouldn't feel any less comfortable.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-10 07:11 pm UTC (link) Track This When Kyle told her that Monique knew she breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh good, then I can speak openly." She looked to Monique to explain, "I told him it was best to stay away from the Greeks for a while, but I needed to come check on him."
She smiled again, "It's really nice to meet you. Thank you for the cookie," she said, taking one. "How did you find out about us?"

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-10 07:21 pm UTC (link) Track This If it was possible to relax and tense a bit at the same time, Monique did so. She was relieved that Kyle wasn't in trouble, but V had told her something bad was going down with the Greeks.
"My sister told me something bad was happening with the Greeks, but I don't have a whole lot of details. But I'm glad Kyle's alright." She smiled too. "You're welcome. And, funnily enough, my sister is dating a Saint, but I actually found out because a guy claiming to be Eros started talking to me on twitter. I thought he was crazy and I mentioned it to V, who told me he wasn't actually as crazy as I thought he was." She took a cookie for herself, shrugging. "And once Anthony-that's her boyfriend, the Saint-showed me that he really could find anything, seeing as how he's the Saint of lost articles and those who seek them, it was pointless to try and deny it."

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-10 07:30 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "Not all of 'em are nice though. Like Bernie's dad, and Dion gets a little on the crazy side sometimes." He made a motion with his finger spiraling against his temple.
It had been months since he'd seen Mona, though so he too was glad to see she was safe. She was the more practicle of the two in this relationship.
"How's everyone?" He knew he'd been a hassle at the time that Dion had run off leaving him in a drunken frenzy. Mona had taken care of him which he was grateful for.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-10 07:36 pm UTC (link) Track This Homonoia was about to agree with Monique about Kyle's state. She didn't know how much his cousin knew, but Homonoia had absolutely no desire to go spouting off everything she knew. Then she gave Monique a look, "Eros? He went spouting off about who he was? In a public forum? That fool, it's a wonder he hasn't been taken to an asylum." She squeezed the bridge of her nose with her fingers and shook her head with a heavy sigh.
"At least you all have some of the good ones on your side. There are no words good enough to describe Poseidon, but I do not wish to offend the Olympian's," she said, making a face as though there was a bad taste in her mouth. "We're all fine. Awaiting orders. It's been very quiet. Too quiet. I have no idea what Zeus is doing but nothing is getting better. Poseidon returned last week from the the Underworld but I don't care to look into what he's doing. The Fates and Athena are trying to help restore order but without Zeus answering anyone that's been a little difficult. I decided I needed a break from the waiting so I came to see you. No one has come bothering you?"

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-10 08:46 pm UTC (link) Track This She nodded, a wry smile on her face. "That was pretty much my reaction. He offered to set me up with 'an old god', or something like that. And when I said no, he asked if I was seeing someone, which I hurriedly told him was none of his business. I don't think I ever want to meet him."
She really had nothing to add about the Greek situation, so she stood and munched on her cookie while Mona updated Kyle about what was happening. The Greeks sounded like a bunch of people from a soap opera, overly dramatic and always fighting among themselves. She didn't fancy meeting most of them any time soon. She'd have to ask V what all was going down. To be fair, just because Poseidon was Bernie's father, it didn't mean she'd automatically know, but she might have some insight.
"Things sound very...shaken up at the moment," she said, finishing off her cookie.

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-11 02:51 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This He listened to the fill-in tapping his fingers like drumsticks against thigh. "Bernie's been a wreck, hope that changes with 'em back an' all." there was a sigh of relief until Nicky spoke up. Poseidon wasn't the kind of god he wanted her to meet, Dion wasn't even a good choice simply because he'd seduce her. Dion had already tried his hand at deficit him with his flirtations, Kyle just hid behind Ariadne when things got too weird.
"He's crazy Nicky, jus' be careful. Met Poseidon once and that gave me whiplash." Kyle snuck in beside Mona scooting her toward the couch. "You girls wanna sit?" he said cheerfully.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-11 02:58 am UTC (link) Track This Homonoia gave Monique an exasperated look, "Be happy you don't have to deal with it nearly every day. What mother, sister and I do isn't any better, but at least we don't go around telling mortals who we are." She decided not to bring up exactly what the Praxidikai did. One step at a time. "We are used to drama, but sometimes our pantheon lets it get out of hand. I wish they'd all calm down and take a break every now and then."
"If Bernie isn't already fully better I would be surprised. His father is back and the same as usual, from what I can tell." But Homonoia had no wish to look more closely. She gave Kyle a little smile, though felt sheepish. "Maybe I should go. I don't want to intrude."

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-11 05:35 pm UTC (link) Track This "If I was some sort of god, I definitely wouldn't," Monique agreed. "Like you said, they might toss me into an asylum." She finished off her cookie. "And if the myths I've read are anything to go by, drama sounds like second nature."
"He seems OK, from what I've seen," she remarked. "I didn't even know his father had gone anywhere." She was starting to feel a little out of place, but she rallied. "Don't feel you have to leave on my account," she added with a small smile.

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-12 01:11 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "No don't leave," he said to Mona with a slight pout to his lips. He hadn't seen her in what felt like forever. He'd gotten rather used to her being around, she calmed him down in the world that was pretty crazy when working for a wine god.
"So who've you all met Nicky?" he said curious. He'd seen a lot at Naxos, though he couldn't sense them like other immortals, he'd grown used to some of the regulars that carried that godly card.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-12 01:17 am UTC (link) Track This "It wouldn't be the first time a god has been put in one. The things we get ourselves in. Then again, Greeks are notorious for causing mischief. As for the myths, they say the facts but they don't always capture a gods full character. Some are more terrible than they are written out to be."
She nodded at Monique, "That's good." And then she frowned, "He went to Hades because he was making a mockery of himself, so Zeus exacted justice where he should not have. That is mine, my mother's, and my sister's place."
She nodded to both of them. "I should have called before I came, but I can stay a little longer." She looked back to Monique at Kyle's question. She too was curious about who all she had met and if she'd met any other Greeks she was prepared to give warnings or advice.

[info]likesachallenge 2011-08-12 01:28 am UTC (link) Track This Monique mostly listened and nodded, because if there was anyone who would know, it would be an immortal. "I don't doubt it," she said. "Written word can't convey absolutely everything about a person."
"From what V has told me, that doesn't sound very out of character for him," she replied. "So...you and your mother and sister mete out justice? Sounds like you guys are needed a lot right now."
She smiled. "Good! I've heard about you, so it's nice to finally meet you in the flesh. As for who I've met, there's you, of course, Anthony, the Saint, and I've spoken to Eros, in a manner of speaking. But apart from that, I haven't really met anyone else. V told me to stay away from Poseidon, that he almost broke her wrist for talking back to him. And Zeus too, and once I did some reading about him, I think I will."

[info]mixed_cocktail 2011-08-12 03:26 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Kyle patted the couch seat beside him for Mona to sit. He couldn't be overly affectionate, but it was obvious by his bright smile and eyes that he was excited to see her. They were so different and not just by mortal and immortal terms. If it wasn't for her he would have died back when Dionysus went out of his head.
He blushed a little at Nicky's words, covering his eyes with a 'you didn't just give me away' kind of look. He talked about Mona often when he wasn't talking about music or the crazy customers at the bar. It was a little embarrassing.
"If you ever come by Naxos come on a night Dion's not there. Trust me, Nicky, he'll make goo-goo eyes at you." It was hard to keep Dion off anyone with a pretty face.

[info]praxidikai 2011-08-13 04:59 pm UTC (link) Track This "We're needed just about all the time, but seeing as things have been out of balance and our worship isn't as much as it once was our purpose seems forgotten. We still have the Moirai - that's the Fates - on our side and we follow only their orders, anyhow."
Homonoia had a hard time not grinning at Monique's comment and Kyle's reaction to it. She simply sat next to him and said nothing of his embarrassment. "All good things I hope."
"It's best to stay away from a lot of the gods, and goddesses. They're jealous and vain, and I don't say this lightly because even an exacter of justice is not immune to punishment. As long as you never run into Poseidon you should be just fine. He's worse than Zeus. I'd even suggest staying away from Dionysus," she said with a glance to Kyle, who she knew was still under his charge and quite frankly hated it. "He's nice and all, but he's still an Olympian and they're all torn right now." She smiled to Monique, "But that's enough of that. I have to think about this constantly and I'd really like a break. Are you two hungry?"
