Who: Kyle and Homonoia What: Ladies night When: Jan 21, 2011 night Where: Naxos Warnings: Drinking and crazy npc's
Getting away from her mother wasn't always an easy thing to do. Especially not when Homonoia planned to go somewhere that a widely known Olympian god who had earned the loving title of divine drunk would most likely be. It just meant problems and Praxidike needing to bop a few people on the heads, her children included. However, with Arete also joining in the festivities Praxidike had agreed to let her girls go out. On the agreement that when one left the club, so did the other. And after that they could go wherever they like as long as it wasn't home with an Olympian. Hey, she knew her girls had needs too!
Arriving before the place got really packed Homonoia and Arete hung out mostly with each other, though after a few drinks and the crowd having grown considerably Arete had run off the the dance floor. Homonoia could only feel this was all a bad omen and that they shouldn't have come.
The night was still young and Homonoia had only had a glass of wine so far. She was still as much that in-control goddess she always was. She hated not having control over her actions and maybe that was why she had agreed to come, because she saw someone who was clearly being controlled when he might not be able to handle it.
Spotting him at the bar, she walked over and sat down in front of him with a little smile. "Drunk yet?" There was something almost playful in her tone. It suggested she was fond of him after having gotten to know him a little more, even if she didn't know him that well and he had been rather drunk the last time.
The band had been on a little before that, his cousin had shown and now Kyle was back to his duties at the bar. He hadn't expected anyone else to come, even if somewhere he'd hoped. Anything to keep his attentions off that next shot of whiskey or some other alcohol to pump his stomach with.
The last time he'd seen Homonoia and her troupe he'd gotten plastered, so plastered that he'd pretty much been licking the floor. Dionysus was around, but he was busy fueling other mortals, giving Kyle a breather.
"Nope, not yet," he said with a semi-laugh and a half smile. "How 'bout you?" he pointed to her glass, "need a drink?" though it was quite obvious she still had some in it.
Somewhere Praxidike was having a moment of disapproval, Homonoia just knew it. She could practically feel her mother not liking any of this. Then again, she didn't know what the current situation was apart from her daughters getting drinks and listening to live music. Homonoia almost felt like she was disobeying her mother.
They could all look past Kyle's prior drunkenness, knowing full well it couldn't have possibly been all him. There was want there, but it was want accompanied by a greater, stronger force.
"No," she then looked at her glass and shrugged, "Sure, why not? We enjoyed the show," she said with a smile. "You're very talented."
Kyle liked being able to think on his own, but the more he was around Dionysus it seemed the less he was able to be himself. In place was a much bolder person, though at least his kind nature still shined through.
"Sorry, last time I saw ya I wasn't so...." he waved his arm about, "sober."
"We?" he asked, did the rest of your fam show?" There was a light ream of blush on his cheeks as he wiped down the counter and pulled out a new glass for her. "Just playin' around an' all you know? Guys they got some new songs, so just testin' them out."
Homonoia wasn't the only one to notice when mortals had been claimed by other gods. Especially when said gods were Greek. It was kind of hard to miss. At least no one had any chance of being claimed by any of the Praxidikai. Being friendly or becoming close was one thing, actually claiming someone as 'theirs' was entirely different. They really didn't need to have that sort of hold on anyone. It would probably lead to death and destruction. And that world didn't need that.
She shook her head, waving a hand, "No, it's fine. We've seen worse. You're better now, I can see. Believe it or not, my mom was actually a little worried about you." She wondered vaguely if he remembered anything they had told him about them.
"Just me and Arete. She's out on the dance floor somewhere," she turned to try and find her sister. The other goddess could be seen through the crowd of dancers. Homonoia just hoped she wouldn't have to drag her sister away from an orgy. She looked back at him and shrugged, "If you keep working at it you guys could have a real future."
Kyle hadn't even realized he'd been claimed in the beginning, he probably didn't really realize it now. He considered Dion a friend along with Ariadne. It was a different life than he'd first run off from. He was on his own, he was doing what he loved, it was just a cloak over what Dionysus was doing to him.
"I'm fine, really no need to worry." He laughed. "Though I'm glad tonight I don't have the same headache," a sweet smile before scratching his temple. "Ah, don't really remember a lot of what you told me. But I know you're like him. One of them...and you..." he stopped finding himself sucked into her eyes. "You, I remember you."
"Music is what I love, i'd be great to be on out there with it, but I'm happy jus' playin'."
Claiming was just one big mess to the Praxidikai. They didn't control any lives but their own and the only ones who had any sort of control over them were the Moirai, who knew the rules better than anyone else. The Praxidikai considered themselves in pretty good hands. And what they were in control of almost guaranteed their stay on Earth would be quite long.
"We don't like speaking ill of Olympian's, but you do have to be careful with them. Gods meddle too much." She chuckled, "I would have been surprised if you'd remembered much of it. I think my mom was trying to intimidate you, anyway. It's just how she is." She couldn't help it, but she blushed just a little, "Well, the first time you met me you were sober. What do you remember, anyway?"
"If that's good enough for you," she said with a smile.
Kyle nodded as he filled her new glass with a different wine. Still Dionysus' but a new flavor. "I know, Ari tells me that all the time. She tries to interfere a lil' so he isn't so zoned in on me." He wondered sometimes what it would be like when Dionysus found someone else to meddle with.
He laughed at at that. "You looked like you wanted me to get out of the way, that's what I remember. All I saw was pretty eyes an' a girl I wanted to get the name of."
Homonoia chuckled again, "Well when you've lived as long as we have and have seen the things we've seen you tend to know what to look out for." She wasn't entirely sure who Ari was, but it made her wonder if he meant Ariadne. It was the most likely.
She blushed more deeply, not sure what to say to that. She had meant what he remembered of what her mother had said but this was more interesting. Awkward and exciting at the same time. She fingered the new glass for a moment, unable to respond. "I tend to throw people off." Okay, so that was lame but Homonoia didn't often deal with anyone who wanted to know her name apart from filling out forms.
"I give ya that," he said nodding in agreement. "How's the wine? New flavor, seems to be a hit." He laughed.
"It's aright, I thought you were pretty." He was definitely letting Dionysus' bold habits poke through, or he might have been embarrassed that he'd even said such a thing.
She made a face as if to say yeah I know, shrugging along with it. "It's nice, a good choice. Ah, I'm sure Dionysus will be pleased."
She smiled, feeling embarrassed suddenly, "Are you trying to make me blush or did Arete put you up to this?" She was used to stares, but nothing this forward.
He seemed confused for a moment, pouring himself a glass of wine without even realizing it.
"No?" he said. "I'm sorry was that too much?"
Okay, so maybe it wasn't Arete's doing. She shook her head, "No, no, it's fine. I'm just not used to people... well, men saying those sort of things."
"Naw, really?" He shook his head taking a good drink of the wine. "Like...." he leaned in on the bar so he could get a better look at her eyes, "ever?" He didn't think she was all that crazy.
Homonoia shrugged, not really understanding his surprise. She knew she was pretty enough but never thought of herself as over the top or anything. "I'm used to stares, but I stare back and that usually stops it," she grinned at that. "I know I'm pretty enough but I rarely ever get approached. People say I'm intimidating." Until they cozy up to her and realize she isn't entirely frightening.
"But I like your eyes, I know that sounds like a line, god Dionysus is rubbin' off on me," he laughed, though he was certain he wasn't near the charmer as his boss.
She was blushing again and she really couldn't help it. Attention like this wasn't something she was used to dealing with so it was almost entirely new. "Something both good and bad about him, I'm sure." She smiled, "Thank you."
"Welcome." He wiped down the counter again just trying to find something to do with his hands. As a drummer he was always beating and tapping things when he had a beat in his head. Right now it was just slight hint of nerves. "I'd have said whether I knew you were one of 'em or not." It didn't phase him any more about the immortals. It seemed almost natural now.
It was probably strange how calm Homonoia seemed throughout this entire conversation. Apart from the occasional blush she seemed perfectly comfortable. That honesty would go a long way with the Praxidikai, that was for sure. At that point she wasn't really sure how to respond, so she sipped her wine and turned to check on her sister. "Do you have any siblings?"
