Who: Poseidon, Raiden and Rhode When: Monday morning What: Poseidon and daughter time Where: Poseidon's office Warnings/rating: Language
Coming to terms with his immortality as a simpleton was still not something Poseidon took lightly. The more enraged he became the less he was able to do about it, which drained him terribly of energy. Without his useful talents, powers and titles his body became tired more quickly. This wasn't like being old where he hobbled across a room with saggy ass cheeks. He'd still been Poseidon no matter how many wrinkles he'd accumulated. He had hated the image but this was much more disgraceful. Everything had been stripped and he felt damn pathetic.
Despite the loss of even his name, now he was more suited with 'Dorian' until Triton lost interest with power he had no idea what to do with. Poseidon had had his time to pout. The temper tantrums of a forty year old man were useless when there wasn't anything to back him. He was just a bully with no strings to pull. He'd spent this time in the shadows long enough. It wouldn't do well to sit back and wallow in his own self pity. He wouldn't be true to himself if he allowed that. He'd turned his defenses on his clients, like-minded businessmen. He rolled his punches where he could, reminding those that worked for him, just who owned the company. He wasn't just a pretty man in a suit that sat in his chair diddling secretaries with no work. It was the first time though in quite some time that he took that role as seriously as he was capable of.
He'd been in a meeting when Raiden came by, holding onto a pendant that she had found for her father. She was the only one of his children that truly seemed to hold resentment for Triton obtaining Poseidon's titles. It felt wrong. Completely wrong. Poseidon had been nasty to her, he had made her wish to crawl back home. Right now she expected he felt the same, and she wanted to be a brighter presence in this time of need. She wanted to be someone there for him when everyone else just wanted to hang it over his head. She held his stubbornness through and through.
She caught a glimpse of Rhode as she came into the main lobby, ready to walk right in to see Poseidon. She didn't need an appointment, or a call ahead. She was his daughter and she had every right as much as his full-blooded children to come when she wished.

She'd never met the girl in person, but she could see why Ky didn't like her. Too bright and cheery, like something from a different dimension. It just wasn't right.
She threw down her magazine, heels clicking as she strode to catch up. "I wouldn't be going up there just now," she said idly. "He's in one hell of a bad mood, he was full on pouting last time I saw him." She considered. "Actually, never mind. Seeing the fallout out to be interesting."

[info]neptune_storm 2012-01-30 06:43 pm UTC (link) Track This Raiden paused in her step focusing on the other daughter of Poseidon. "I'm Raiden," she said brightly as she held out her hand. "I need to see him." She was bent on cheering him up through this. He'd been extremely quiet for weeks which felt completely off kilter.
"He's not himself right now, I know. That's why I'm here."
Poseidon engaged himself in this meeting because right now these were all the things he had. He'd made a name for himself with his company, and with Zeus missing in action for whatever reason, he wasn't about to lose what he had tagged to his 'mortal' life. It was making the best of what titles he did have now.
After a few minutes Raiden decided to bounce in, gift in tow so that she could have a word with her father. The other men had already stood, prepared to leave with their tails whipped between their legs when Dorian had all but spread their blood over the table. He was vicious when he had control of his own company. The men exited the room and Raiden stepped in. If Rhode hoovered around to watch, Poseidon wouldn't have been able to feel her there.

[info]rhodus 2012-01-30 07:09 pm UTC (link) Track This Rhode ignored the hand and let out a choked sound that might have been loosely called a laugh. "I figured as much. And not himself, yeah, that's one way to put it," she agreed. "Another way to put it would be that he's pouting like a child because someone finally stood up for themselves against him. What, exactly, do you intend to do to change that?"
She followed Raiden into the office, taking a chair in the corner and crossing her legs, settling in to watch what went down.

[info]neptune_storm 2012-01-31 05:47 pm UTC (link) Track This Poseidon was aware of Raiden's presence the moment she sat her gift down in front of him on the table.
"Are you here for compliments?" he growled at her, weathered eyes turning their gaze upon her. He slapped his folder shut, leaning on the side of the table with his arms crossed. "What is that?" he nodded toward the gift. "Did you pick it up on the street corner?" He was shooting her down immediately in hopes it would make her turn and run tail. There was only so much he was capable of now without any powers to make her run scared.
"It's for you." She wanted him to remember that he still was Poseidon. Raiden wouldn't listen to Rhode's speech. It wasn't right for Triton to be in control now. The lull that she felt without her father made her at times physically ill. Taking the pendant the girl placed it on the lapel of his jacket. He let her.
A shock really, but Poseidon didn't reach over and choke the sunspot. She grated on his nerves like nails on a chalkboard but he stayed observant. If an ancient sea god could ever hit rock bottom, this was it. Being deprived of everything that gave him purpose, gave him duty made him quench it as if it were water on dry land. Raiden may have a freak of nature with her foolish persistence, but fright now she brought Poseidon back to a place in his mind he'd been depraved of. Love. Not love in the sense of lust or sexual longing, but of being needed. Right now all who had once revolved in his world, including Amphitrite were just names without any tie to him. They were a constant nagging in his head of every wrong he'd achieved. Yet, here standing in front of him was not another angry voice lashing out at the beast. It was a softness. It conflicted him, but gave him settlement.
Perhaps Raiden wasn't the complete freak of nature he'd thought. There was empowerment now within him at her simple gesture.

[info]rhodus 2012-01-31 06:46 pm UTC (link) Track This Rhode watched the scene unfolding before her, her eyebrows rising higher and higher as the seconds passed. He almost looked...soft, and she could count on one hand the number of times he'd looked at her like that over her very long life. It felt like a punch to the gut, anger coming fast on the heels of jealousy. She could feel her fingernails digging into the heels of her hands, but still she said nothing. Instead, she turned on her heel and walked away, leaving nothing but the faint click of her heels and the smell of salt air in her wake. If her father wanted to have the damn halfling around, let him. She had her husband, and her true siblings, and her friends. Fuck him. He could go to Hades, for all she cared.
