Who: Poseidon, Kymopoleia and Raiden What: Raiden comes to visit pissy pants papa around the same time her sister does. Family awkwardness! When: Wednesday Lunchtime, October 5, 2011 Where: Poseidon's office/outside/park Warnings: Inner family flirtations and language?
[info]waveranging 2011-10-05 10:08 pm UTC (link) Track This Kymopoleia had found herself around the building her father worked in and so she lingered outside with a cigarette trying to decide if she should go in and try and piss him off.
When Poseidon had died, a part of Kymopoleia had followed him. It wasn't because she loved him, but just because she was so connected to him. Without Poseidon, Kymopoleia more or less ceased to be. It had been a terrifying realization but the sea goddess was working hard to forget how weak she'd been then.
But she couldn't quite remove from her mind that night that she'd come curling onto a couch with him, that night when she'd pressed her frail body against him and begged him so pathetically not to leave her again. And he in turn had stroked her hair and called her his baby girl.
Now that Kymopoleia was back to her old self, she tried to pretend none of that had happened. It was easier. But even so, she couldn't quite deny that it felt like that night had changed something between them, but what she couldn't be sure.
She'd mostly decided to go home when her father came striding out of the building, and Kymopoleia raised an eyebrow when that little mortal shit seemed to be following him. She stood and with a low laugh walked across to him. "Family outing?" she asked Poseidon, ignoring the blue strands that whipped against her face in the breeze. "Well, that's just sweet." She looked to the little girl then, taking her in in person for the first time. "Hello, munchkin."

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-06 02:47 am UTC (link) Track This Poseidon may have gained his insensitive sense of humor again, but it still acted as some sort of means to deal with what his brothers had put him through. He was learning his lessons however fucked up they were. He would not reveal that for the rest of the world, especially with this new Japanese twit who started to cling to him like a puppy. He preferred Kymopoleia's Oedipal flirtatious over this sunshine bastard.
Throwing on his coat, Poseidon was intent on losing the sick puppy whose feet pitted parterre right behind him. He'd just thrown open the door when he came face to face with his other daughter. If he were in a particularly bad mood he'd have handed Raiden over to his blue-haired baby girl. Something had changed between Poseidon and Kymopoleia since his time away in Hades. It was one that made him as uncomfortable as it did her, but the the focus on Raiden made it more bearable.
"I seemed to have picked up a leech," he said without even acknowledging Raiden.
Raiden in turn smiled bowing softly at her sister. "Nice to meet you," she said with a thick accent.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-06 02:50 am UTC (link) Track This Tossing her cigarette aside, Kymopoleia moved closer to her father, standing right in front of him. "Leeches are supposed to be squashed," she told Poseidon and then ran one of her fingers up his chest casually. "Don't tell me she's growing on you, baby?" She looked at Raiden in distaste. "Like a tumor."

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-06 04:02 am UTC (link) Track This Poseidon laughed with that hearty and gritty tone, not acknowledging or dismissing the hand Kymopoleia laid upon his chest. She'd always flirted like she wasn't Amphitrite's daughter, just another possible conquest. He had a feeling this show was special just for Raiden, an even more amusing hit.
His arm loosely wrapped around Kymopoleia's shoulders, not nearly affectionately but just to watch Raiden's mouth drop. It was the first time he looked up to Raiden since she'd first showed up to his office.
"This leech keeps resurfacing," he moved from Kymopoleia, catching Raiden's chin with his large hand, forcing her eyes on his. "Give up, baby." He wanted to see her break down and she refused.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-08 12:16 pm UTC (link) Track This Kymopoleia leaned across to look at the girl, raising an eyebrow. "There's not much of her, is there?" she commented, despite the fact that she herself was short and slender. But at least Kymopoleia carried herself with the strength of the ocean. This girl was nothing but a girl.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-08 05:30 pm UTC (link) Track This Raiden stood quietly watching the exchange between them. She felt she was missing out on some understanding between the two, and at that moment she should have walked off. Like her demanding father however, she did not.
"I am here, you can talk to me directly," she pointed, forgetting her well-meanig manners for a moment. She did not get angry often, but she would stand up for herself. "I am no less your daughter than she is." Her eyes flashed a little more green-blue and Poseidon couldn't help but raise a brow at her unexpected annoyance. She wasn't smiling right now, but he caught that surge of defiance.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-08 08:16 pm UTC (link) Track This "It speaks," Kymopoleia said, leaning against her father and watching the girl in amusement.
"No less his daughter?" she asked the girl, her expression darkening as she leaned in towards her, their faces close as she spoke again. "How many sailors have you dragged down to a watery death? How many have you kindly allowed to pass through storm waves unharmed? You've never done either of those things, and you're nothing like us." She drew back with a sour expression, arms crossed.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-08 08:45 pm UTC (link) Track This Raiden felt like a deer in headlights, trapped with this newfound information. It sounded so brutal. "I could never hurt anyone," she said, feeling a knot in her throat start to form. She swallowed heavy looking at Poseidon with an expectant glance, in which he threw up his arms, crossing them in the same fashion as his daughter.
"She's young still, needs training," he countered which made Raiden feel her little heart crumble, especially when he laughed after.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-08 08:55 pm UTC (link) Track This "And that's why you'll never be a god," she told the girl, although there was little malice there now. Kymopoleia proclaimed her words as simple fact. Raiden would never be anything more than a little girl, even if she was of Poseidon's seed.
Her father spoke and Kymopoleia leaned into him again, turning to press against his side and sliding her fingers across his chest slowly, eyes ever on her 'sister'. She wanted more than anything in today's encounter to make the girl wary and uncomfortable. (In truth, since his time away in Hades, Kymopoleia hadn't really made any sort of moves on her father as she was usually famed for. If Kymopoleia was completely honest with herself, the interest in him like that had left her, but putting on a show for this little brat was worth it.) "And how will we train her, daddy?" she asked, looking up at him with fluttering eyelashes, her tongue running along her top lip slowly.

[info]emerald_odyssey 2011-10-08 09:11 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I don't want to be a god," the lithe, tall girl said shaking her head and clutching her purse. She wasn't sure what to do right now, "I just..." she didn't know anymore if she wanted this or not. Was this all for show or was she only going to a girl to Poseidon? The same way her mother was.
"Just what?" Poseidon asked tilting his head, brows creased. His tone spoke harshly, urging her forcefully to answer. He had her slipped up, he wanted to see her fall. Raiden couldnt answer. He motioned his head toward the harbor, instructing them both to follow.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-08 09:14 pm UTC (link) Track This She wasn't really one to follow Poseidon's orders but she wanted to see where this would lead with the girl, so Kymopoleia followed, lighting up a cigarette as she did and saying nothing.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-08 09:38 pm UTC (link) Track This If he scared the shit out of the girl would she still stand there calling him Daddy? She seemed ready for the test and defiant as all hell, he'd make her cry or spark something within her. Maybe then he'd consider her something more than a gift bearer---though his children were often no more than props. He'd made an effort with Bearnie, but that was a single exception out of hundreds of others. He played favorites and that never went well with girls.
He stopped at the harbor railing, the waters surprisingly calm with the cooler air settling in. As soon as his hand touched the railing the water began to thrash and spin around.
He wanted a reaction, but this was only the beginning.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-08 09:46 pm UTC (link) Track This Ky made no reaction to the water, although she watched Poseidon out of the corner of her eye as she smoked. He would wear himself out doing things like this and Kymopoleia missed the days when he was truly worshiped and all-powerful. Now all any of them could do was put on little shows that left them weak. But the mortal girl didn't need to know that.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-08 10:18 pm UTC (link) Track This He wasn't going to be just a circus act, but what power he held now was nothing like it had been in the past. He was physically able to pull off any stunt he wanted, no longer weak from his run around with death and old age, but there was only so much he could take right now. Mentally he was still pretty unstable as he tried to keep a thick water wall from him and his weaknesses.
The water spilled out over the harbor, a horrid dark color forming in the middle of the vortex. Surprisingly Raiden stood amazed. Her pretty blue-green eyes were fixated on the spinning water while other people passing by started to run.

[info]waveranging 2011-10-14 02:14 pm UTC (link) Track This "You're making a scene," Kymopoleia commented, casually looking over her shoulder to see the reaction of others. Kymopoleia only used her (very minor) magic when there wasn't people to see it. She was all too wary of the idea of ending up as someone's science project.
Then she nudged Raiden (not so gently) with her elbow. "How about you jump on in now?"

[info]neptune_storm 2011-10-15 03:50 am UTC (link) Track This "What's the point of you don't make people squeal?" he jabbed at Kymopoleia with a sardonic grin. Mortals were too stupid to put two and two together these days. They wouldn't likely put him and the water in the same thought, or think he was controlling in. They were more likely to think he was the same crazy asshole that would sooner chase a tornado than run from it.
They were completely right.
Raiden rubbed her side at the jab, momentarily knocked off her track. She didn't speak but her focus easily went back to that swirl of water. She reached out to it, as Kymopoleia had said, a little too ready to jump in. Just as she had been when the tsunami hit Japan, she wasn't scared of it at all.
