Who: Poseidon and Veronica (appearance by Bernie [NPC] and Ariel?) What: Time to play daddy for an afternoon. When: Monday afternoon, June 5, 2011 Where: Poseidon's office Warnings: Poseidon's mouth, but fairly decent behavior.
Poseidon felt better since making Perseus' bones crack, it had even made him a little giddy come Monday morning. He'd actually kept his soon to be fired secretary from shedding tears as she brought him his morning coffee. She still hoped to win back his favor even though she cursed him every time she left the office. She liked the new girl despite that she felt it rather odd. She had an air of jealousy around her because she'd been there longer. It was manipulative of Poseidon to use employees like he did, and she'd been snared in his trap.
He sat back in his chair comfortably, pen twirling in his fingers as he did some paperwork. Between Guy and Ariel there he'd managed to get a full staff after firing over half of them during his influence with Delusion and Folly. He was starting to gain his edge, though it could still be argued he'd lost it.
He would be on the phone when Veronica showed, chatting away business and obvious threats.
The only reason she was being nice to Poseidon was because he'd brought her son a gift. And honestly he seemed so surprised she could be nice to him. It kept him on his toes.
She'd brought her son along and after talking to the secretaries (who needed two in the first place?) made her way into the office, setting her hands on her son's shoulders. IT was a good thing she'd gotten her son used to language, seeing Poseidon had a worse vocabulary then her.
Bernie waved to his father, but was otherwise quiet. He knew how to behave around people who were obviously working. Veronica smiled at her son and motioned for him to remove his coat before guiding him to a window so they could over look the city.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 01:39 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Amphitrite agreeing to see him could have also had something to do with his better mood. He was still thin, but the colas had returned to his eyes as last night he'd gotten a full night's sleep. He clicked the pen a few times, otherwise no other indication that he'd seen them than the heavy look given from under his dark brow.
The conversation ended on a whitty threat and a half-cocked smirk. He slapped the phone back in it's holder, leaning back in his chair again making it swish from side to side.
"And so she shows," he said with a snort. He'd expected much more of a fight, this made it kind of boring.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 01:49 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select "So she does," she smiled at the God. He should stop trying to make sense of her. She did as she liked, and her son was the most important thing to her. For Bernie, she'd be nice to Poseidon and not argue.
She ruffled her son's hair, giving him a nudge to go to his father. Even at this young age Bernie knew better to expect anything besides a hello from Poseidon. Instead the boy just smiled at Poseidon and climbed on the chair opposite the desk. "I like the view up here. Mum was trying to see if we could find the house, but I think it's too far away."

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 03:16 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select He looped his fingers together in his lap, still lazily in his chair watching her with idyll fascination. He laughed with that thin lipped grin that showed just a hint of teeth.
Bernie approached and his eyes went back to his son, the cock of his head to the side as the kid hopped up in the seat. "It is quite a view," he said swishing his chair to take a glance.
From that top level the city below looked like a set of toy Lego's patterned out. "Should see it at night," he raised one brow.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 03:25 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Bernie looked back at his mother at that, with a bright smile, "could I?" Veronica smiled and brushed her son's hair from his eyes. She never hid how much she loved the boy, not even around Poseidon. "Maybe during a weekend hm? Not when you have school, or you'll be asleep in classes."
When her son turned back to his father she leaned on the seat. She never felt comfortable enough around Poseidon to sit down. "So. How was your trip?" It was a subtle urge to have him give Bernie his present. She never wanted to deal with Poseidon for very long.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 03:53 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select The kid was anxious in a way that was like Poseidon. He may be a good kid now to his mother, but that start of wanting was something Poseidon had always possessed.
Poseidon sat up within his chair noting how Veronica refused to sit.
"Have a seat," his voice edgy, he wasn't giving her the opportunity to say no.
His eyes shot out the glass doors towards where Ariel sat at her desk with the other girl. "Prosperous," he'd made things drown for his own ego, of course it had been a worthy trip. "Was a shame I didn't stay longer, there were plenty of ships to pluck," he laughed.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 04:02 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Poseidon had never learned to tone down his wanting, or had someone to teach him how to balance it. Veronica would teach her son to find a balance. She'd not let him become as empty as Poseidon was.
She glanced at Poseidon and sighed, "I'm fine." Even if his voice said not to argue she did. Her very instinct always said to argue with him.
He'd clearly not gotten her hint so she just rolled her eyes and played with her son's hair until he made her stop. "Always nice to know you had fun." Bernie grinned, eager for stories. "Is the Triangle really what they say?" The boy asked, "is it all special?"

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 04:17 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Poseidon had never had someone that wanted to help him find balance. The one he had trusted and loved first had given up on him and in return he'd given her his violent anger. A start in the hole that weighted him down now.
He gave her a thin-lipped look, jaw clenching ever so slightly. He folded his arms over his chest.
The boy's eagerness was amusing as he bounced in his seat waiting for an expectant answer. Poseidon reached out and ruffled his hair as he stood from his seat leaning against the side of the desk. "It is when I make things go missing." Ever since the early times of his reign Poseidon could let any passing ship go freely or down into a watery grave which all fared on his mood. "Men like wild stories, I just give them the ammunition."
Leaning off his spot on the desk he walked slowly over toward a filing cabinet where he pulled out a Captain's wheel from beside it. "You like boats," was his gravely response, "this came from an ocean liner." An ocean liner that he'd sunk in under fifteen minutes.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 04:26 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Veronica just gave him a smile at his look. She may fear him, know he could kill her, but she'd never bow to him, never cower to him. He hated her for it, and she didn't care. The only good thing he'd ever done for her was Bernie. She couldn't imagine having to deal with him on a daily basis.
Bernie grinned to the explanation, "cool! Can I go?" Before Poseidon could answer that she smiled at her son, "when you're older." She smirked at the boy's pout. "I know, I'm such a bore, making you wait." She didn't want her son to get too used to the kind of death Poseidon gave out. Not until he was old enough to understand.
Bernie ran to the gift, taking it with reverent hands. His eyes were wide and his smile bright. "This is so cool! Thanks dad." With a wide grin he looked to his mother, "isn't is awesome mum?" Veronica just smiled, feeling not too keen about having something in her home that was from a ship that Poseidon had drowned, but she wouldn't deny her son. "It's very neat love. We'll put it on your wall alright?" Her son nodded and she smiled. It was good to see him happy, regardless how it was brought on.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 05:01 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select The gift in itself was disturbing, not quite a store bought toy or item that could be easily broken. It was a far stretch for him to reach this far for a child of his, but Poseidon was trying so hard to hang onto something while inside he was dying inside.
No amount of damaging heroes and sinking ships could take away that pain, but it had helped at least. He watched Bernie hold it and turn it in his hand as if operating a ship himself. It was a rare moment indeed for him to seem so entranced and without a cold word to spat back.
For a second it might almost seem like he cared.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 05:11 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select For a moment she pitied this God. So powerful, without nothing to Lord over, and yet painfully alone. She felt sorry that he only had his torment and ego, and kept pushing aside while clinging to anything with such fever it was obsession. He'd burned up his heart a long time ago, even she could see that.
She was nothing to him. She was a flicker that would burn down and leave nothing but the memory of her child in her ashes. But she had more then him. She had a family that adored her, siblings who would fight for her and now Anthony stood on the horizon promising something else. He had a Kingdom, but somehow she knew she had more. She had love.
But he did care for Bernie, even if the only thing Bernie gave him was a legacy and a claim over the boy. She looked to her son then and smiled, making a promise she wouldn't let the boy become as broken as his father. She reached out a hand to the boy, "come on love. Time to go. You have school and I have work." The boy pouted but came to her, grinning to his father again.

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 05:21 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select He'd never had love, and what love he did strive to keep close was gone. Always running and taken from him and yet Poseidon had never known how to truly treasure it. Whatever he had he wanted more of, that gnawing need to obtain instead of just being happy with what he had. She was richer than he for that. At least for a second he would want Bernie to be a better man than himself. It's what he loathed about Triton and any other child of his that he'd left to themselves.
He snapped from that trance he'd been in once again leaning against the desk. The boy looked to his dad with a pout on his face. "Do we have to?" he whined. He didn't want to leave.

[info]vreppyi 2011-06-06 05:30 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Smiling she leaned closer to kiss her son's head, "yes love we have to. School's important." smiling she ran her fingers along his chin, "but you can tell your friends about the wheel huh?" She grinned as her son nodded and rose. "Say bye now love." When the boy said goodbye in his cheeriest voice she set her hand on the back of his head and gave Poseidon a nod. "We'll see you around."

Poseidon nodded back toward Bernie and then Veronica, his jaw clenching. "See ya," his voice was dark, much darker than it had been when they first arrived.
He stood by the big bay window looking down on the city below. Looking at all the people he would be willing to crush if this feeling inside didn't rip itself from his body soon.

[info]under_the_sea 2011-06-06 05:47 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Ariel had spend most of her morning ignoring the mortal woman and her snipes, only looking up when the mortal, and not so mortal child, had walked past talking about the ship's wheel. She'd been curious, but the other woman wasn't sharing.
She'd watched them leave, wondering if these water gods spawned like rabbits, before taking a few files and walking into Poseidon's office. Both her and the mortal had sensed the shift in moods, but the mortal was frightened while she knew the Water God's buttons and how not to press them. "Good morning to you too. You have some calls, and they'll need singing." She set the files on the desk, "cute kid by the way. Yours?"

Taking out the pen from his coat he looked over a few files without giving her an answer. "Think this was a field trip? Of course." Greeks still seemed to populate most of the world with their offspring. Between he and Zeus the two of them practically filtrated most of America.

Most mortals were terrified of him, she was less so. She couldn't drown so he didn't have that over him. "Better to ask then to assume you know. I'm not a mind reader."
She would wait for him to sign what needed to be signed and catch up on what she missed in the mean time. "don't wait too long to bring that water out in him. It'll only get more difficult with time."

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 06:16 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select The other secretary watched with slight fascination at how Ariel could go in without a shred of nervousness. Another reason for her to dislike the woman. She had everything going for her to take the job right out from under her. They were definitely sleeping together. She watched like a bird perched on the top of the room.
Whisking a few signatures he pushed them back toward her and took a seat, feet propped up on the edge of his desk. "He's got some time," his dark blue eyes flashing toward her. "Next time I'll steal him away for more than thirty minutes. Wouldn't want to see me choke his mother now would we?" He joked, the underlining of seriousness which was what made him so fierce.

She didn't remember her own, but she didn't want to deal with that mess. "Not as much as you'd like to think. Both of you should go to the Hamptons. Find a way to work around the mother."
She shrugged then, "just some friendly advice boss."

[info]neptune_storm 2011-06-06 06:38 pm UTC (link) DeleteFreezeScreenTrack This Select Poseidon's own father had devoured him with his siblings until Zeus freed them all. Their mother was just a figure, which could in part be why he gave little regard to the women in his life. His father was greedy and that had been passed down to his children. "I'll work around the mother," he said devilishly.
"Maybe you'll work out after all," he said raising his eyes to give her a light smirk.

"Make sure she doesn't do anything drastic today will you?" or he might not let her live to see the next morning.
