Who: Poseidon and Triton
What: Father, son, and some lite NPC of Mommy dearest.
When: After this.
Where: Poseidon/Amphitrite's penthouse.
Warnings: Cursing at most, maybe a little friendly father/son hits.
Notes: Hope that's an okay place to start

After weeks of hearing Amphitrite whine over her kids, Poseidon had finally tracked down one of them. At least it was her favorite, and he if he would admit it, his as well. At least of her brood. Even since Eros' meddling in which Poseidon had finally slipped in closer to Amphitrite physically than he had been since they returned from Greece, it wasn't going to cure all that was going on with his wife. She had some emotional scars that he just couldn't reach because he had done all that had been done to her before. It was still an open wound when it came to his wife.

The kid had spent at least an hour upstairs talking to her while she coddled him no doubt. A complete wasted Momma's boy that kid was. At least she could fill him in with what would only make Poseidon rage like a madman if he attempted.

There were still bruises, scratches and cuts in places Hades' little pets had dug into the other day. Some brotherly intervention that was supposed to teach him some lesson and only pissed him off. His ribs hurt, breathing still a semi-function when he walked to sit down with a bottle of scotch and two glasses on the table. Propping his feet up on the table he waited until his wife had given enough of an earful to the kid. She wasn't his only parent.

Triton avoided his father for many reasons. He was a loyal son that would always take up arms besides his father, but that didn't mean he didn't know his father was a giant dick with some severe issues. He was always the first to apologize, the first to try and make sure everyone knew he wasn't his father's son.

So when he'd appeared in the apartment he'd found his mother, the one who'd raised him and he loved with all his might. When he was filled in he was both angry and saddened. Somehow, this felt like his father's doing. He promised not to disappear, to keep returning until his mother no longer needed his comfort, something he knew his father could never provide, and to check in on a regular basis.

He felt guilty. If he'd been here, maybe his mother wouldn't have ran off.

After some time he knew he had to face his father and with a kiss on his mother's temple he left her to find his father. Whatever he'd done to piss off Hades, he hoped it wouldn't reflect on him. He was not going to tangle with the Lord of Diss.

When he found his father he cleared his throat, hands in his pockets. "So. I have a baby brother?" He'd always loved his siblings, all of them, and was just a little happy to know about the young half mortal. It meant Triton wasn't alone in dealing with the clusterfuck that was Poseidon.

"Sit down. Have a drink," he said with a quirk of his brow holding up the bottle demanding it even if Triton felt like bolting out the door right about now.

Poseidon wasn't the most fatherly of fathers. He didn't stick around long enough to have the influence on their lives as their mother or mother's. They were still a part of him meaning they belonged to him as did most everything that Poseidon took into his possession.

If Triton didn't think there wasn't some guilt hanging over his head for what had happened to his wife, he was mistaken. There was a lot the old sea king had done since to be more than just a cold shoulder. Poseidon loved that damned woman, that much was obvious. Amphitrite had come a long way since, but she'd do better with the kid back in the picture.

Pouring a glass he filled it to the rim before passing off the bottle to Triton.

"Yes, you have a little half-ling brother. His mother's got a bitchy mouth on her though," he took the glass downing at least half of it before slapping it back on the end table.

"Where have you been hiding?" he asked accusingly. Not like he'd dragged Amphitrite around by a fish hook all these years leaving her children behind as Poseidon went after whatever it was he seeked all these centuries.

He sighed. He always ended up drinking around Poseidon. Maybe because it was the only way he'd have some sort of decent conversation with the man. He'd long stopped trying to argue with his father though and when he was handed the bottle he took it and poured himself a half glass.

He waited then sat down. He smirked to the explanation, "I like her already." Anyone with enough balls to tell his father what they thought of him earned his respect and he'd make sure the two were looked after. "What's his name?"

And then the dreaded question popped up and he shrugged, "Everywhere and nowhere father. I only just moved to this city, I was out in California for a while."

"Watch it," he warned cutting deadly eyes over to the kid that was almost a dead ringer for him. He looked far too soft though, which was his mother's doing.

"Bernie. He's eight." It was because of finding out about the kid that Amphitrite had up and left in the first place. He'd since not skirted around, which gave him a cold chill up his back. It meant he was obsessed with just her for the moment however long that lasted.

Poseidon snubbed the explanation as if he should have shown up prior to this. His eyes looked towards the staircase where Amphitrite was in their room. "She alright?" he asked sincerely, as sincerely as would seem possible in front of his kid.

"What were you doing out there?" he snorted.

He hid his smile into his drink, using the excuse of having a sip before setting it down. "Yes father." He took in the name and would make sure to get to know the young boy. Save for Theseus most of his siblings had been pretty alright.

He sighed at the question, "of course she's not alright." He had his fathers blunt way at times. "Father she went through something immensely traumatizing. She's never going to be fully alright. Eventually she may be okay, but it will continue to haunt her." He glanced to his drink, "I will do what I can to ease her pain."

He rolled his eyes then, "surfing." He set the drink aside, "I was studying father. I didn't know where either of you were for a long time."

"Enough of that," he lashed out at Triton's bite, pointing a finger as he picked up his glass again. "I know full well what she went through," his lip twitched cutting his eyes away. He'd done just the same to others, but to her, never. His grip tightened on that glass, feeling it near crack under the force. It irked him still.

"Studying? That what you waste your time with these days?" Brow raise.

He'd forgotten how much his father disliked having the obvious truth pointed out at him. "Yes father." He'd always wanted his father to have some payback, but never like this.

"Marine Biology father. It gives me something to do." He paused and sipped from his drink, "and no I cannot join you at whatever thing you're doing now." He figured Poseidon would ask. "I have no head for business, and people would wonder why I look so much like you."

Payback was a bitch, and she'd rammed him right up the ass with this revenge stake. If he was to get what was coming for him, he'd rather Amphitrite had been left out of it, no matter how much he hated the woman for pulling out his vulnerable side. She'd never deserved this and he hated himself for not noticing she needed him sooner. She was a touchy subject.

He downed what was left of his drink ready to pour another. Moving on the couch he tried to get comfortable still feeling bones hurt, clawed skin rub up against the fabric of his shirt. If he didn't know any better it felt good to let a little thrashing out, though Hades had won entirely unfairly.

He snorted lightly. "What don't want to follow in the old man's footsteps? Disappointing."

He gave a small smile, "so you've always told me father." Triton was the heir, so he assumed at leas, but it wasn't for a kingdom he'd ever wanted and if taking it meant being like his father he'd rather be a disappointment then anything else.

He decided not to talk of his mother anymore. It would sadden him and he'd get more out of her then his father anyway. He was somewhat curious why his uncle had decided to try and teach his father a lesson but he left it well enough alone.

"It pays for the bills, regardless, and I quite enjoy it. I've got a position at one of the local zoo's."

He honestly expected no less of his kids, if they were anything like him they were headstrong and did their own thing. He could respect that, he just didn't have to like it. Not everyone enjoyed crushing and breaking people with the passion that he did. Perhaps that would have been different, but then Triton and the rest wouldn't even be here.

It was a good thing the kid decided to clam up on the subject of Amphitrite who was probably settling down for sleep about now. At least she'd allowed Poseidon back in their bed.

"The zoo," he stated raising a brow. Well didn't that beat all. "Feel right at home then don't you."

"Oh yes, perfectly," he'd long ago learned how to deflect his father's insults. He just took them as a joke and continued with it. It aggravated his father no doubt, knowing that Triton wasn't so easy to break, but he had his mother to thank for it.

"I keep telling them to put me in a tank so I can get my fishtail back, and how I'd make them millions, but they never believe me. It's a real pity, although they no longer think I'm strange when I talk to the fish." He smirked and downed the last of his drink, setting the empty glass aside. He never drank to excess.

"That's what you want to be, a sideshow? Do tricks and jump through hoops?" Poseidon laughed, that chuckle vibrating deep in his throat. "I'd pay to see that."

It did bother Poseidon that his son wasn't as easy to get through. Even Posidon had claim on Amphitrite, but she'd trained the kid well.

He laughed and nodded, "See and if you would be willing to pay for it, so would others. Unfortunately the time of sideshows is long past." He had long ago developed a sort of self defense mechanism against his fathers insults. He'd learned if he made a joke out of them they would stop.

"It's a shame, you'd be quite the circus act." Poseidon laughed again before taking a deep sigh and situating himself back on the couch until he was comfortable.

"Your Uncle is a cheat."

He grinned, "Oh I know. I'd make millions." He frowned then glanced to the wounds, not making the obvious assumption that his father would have done the exact same thing if the tables had been turned.

"Of course father," it was always best to agree with him. "What happened?"

Poseidon crossed his feet at the ankles once he situated them on the living-room table. "He was enforcing his brotherly gesture." Poseidon sneered with an ugly upturn of his lip. "Thinks he's making some grande motion but he's just pissing me off." He waved his hand around. "Demeter's floating around I'm sure it has something to do with her." he had near knocked her out the week before.

When his father brought up Demeter, suddenly Triton understood. Privately he agreed with his Uncle. The way his father obsessed over the poor woman was horrid. He'd often felt like he should try and make amends, but he would not blame the goddess for hating him for who his father was.

"Ah. Family meetings are always awkward." He hoped he wouldn't have to fight Hades. His Uncle frightened him, more then his father could.

Triton decided to divert his father. Or try. "Let us speak of more pleasant things."

"Don't worry," he said smacking Triton on the shoulder, "This isn't another Titanomachy." Though with he and the ongoing discord between siblings they were long overdue for some overhaul.

"Like what," Poseidon asked raising a brow. "You have some fancy story to tell?"

He winced to the smack, then sighed in relief. The last time he'd fought against any other God it had been against Dionysus. He swore he was still sore over that. "Thank the heavens for that."

He shrugged, "not really, I doubt you'll find interest in my social life. Are any of my other siblings here?"

"Nope, I don't keep up with you brats. Your Mother is the only reason I bother."

He looked over to the kid the first time since he'd come over. He wasn't about to pay him a compliment, Poseidon didn't roll that way even with his kids. If the occasion ever called for it, it was a rare instance.
