Poseidon/Amphitrite
[info]neptune_storm 2012-06-22 05:09 am UTC (link) Track This Nuptials were not a highlight for Poseidon, especially that of his favorite. There was resentment toward Helios for sweeping Rhode away. The golden titan was nothing more than an eye sore. His bright smiles, radiant presence, not to mention he made a sport of being a bigmouth. Rhode was not his only offense, but Poseidon wasn't likely to ever let the titan live it down.
The two were suffocatingly cute, happy even. Poseidon resented them for that. It was a step in a relationship that Poseidon would never have with anyone, not even Amphitrite. He could give her what she wanted (she did have a new brat growing inside her), he could change his ways even the tiniest bit, but the root of it was Poseidon was just a jerk. He was hungry for what he could get and that's all that mattered. Fill the empty space until it's full, but it was never full. Cronus had taken it away when he belly-flopped Poseidon and his siblings down his stomach. Something in the overgrown titan had carried over, as if Poseidon had been a reincarnate of his father. He wasn't big on eating his children, but he damn well didn't know how to treat them.
Back to the sunspot and his daughter. Rhode was smiling as if it suited her to. That smile gave him a knot in his stomach. Poseidon had watched the ceremony from a distance. He wasn't about to sit up there happily with the rest of the Olympians like he wanted to be there. As the couple had stood by the ocean side, the waves crashed against the sand, tempting with soft caresses the closer they stretched against the shore. They never reached the couple, or the guests, but it was a distant reminder that Poseidon was there.
Now the party started with everyone mingling around like they gave a damn. He grabbed a glass of wine and downed it, setting it on a tray and grabbing another, letting it swish around in his mouth. He'd missed out on the last Greek shindig, which had been a disappointment. He'd been traveling down in Hades' underground cave, too busy and too tortured to make an appearance. There wasn't nearly as many Greeks around (probably for the better), but Poseidon was keeping an eye on his youngest and his wife who was looking more and more pregnant by the day.

[info]sea_born 2012-06-22 09:26 pm UTC (link) Track This Even if it hadn't been Amphitrite's 'big day' it felt very close. To a mother who loved her children and wanted them to be happy, a cheerful wedding day was a precious gift. Before she had brought out Rhode she couldn't stop telling her how beautiful she was and how lucky she was. They were so true. Her children deserved only the best, even if they did not always get just that. If it were up to Amphitrite they would all be living happily forever, but she knew better.
It was a blessing to find a suitable dress because she wanted to look lovely for this. Being six months pregnant meant frustrating shopping trips because there seemed to be a lack in evening dresses. But she had finally found the one.
That Poseidon had practically hid himself to sulk during the ceremony (and was now apparently doing the same) had been no secret. In all honesty, she was surprised he came at all and as much as she wished he would turn around and see how happy their daughter was she'd rather he not come if he was going to act like a child. But she wasn't here to fight and she was glad that he had sucked it up and showed.
After giving Rhode and Helios each a kiss on their foreheads she approached her husband. It wasn't until she was right next to him that she spoke. "I'm happy you came. Even if you do look like a child who's been banished to the corner." She smiled playfully, in an attempt to show she meant no harm.
