The day stretched on and the sun made its journey across the sky, and slowly started to make its way back down. Helios was off getting changed somewhere. Rhode's hair was now in rollers, her jewelry was laid out, and she was applying her makeup and trying to keep her hands from twitching. Things were going to go fine, they were. She just knew it. But all the same...she stuck her head out of her room and said, "If anyone happens to see my mother, send her this way. And maybe a glass of wine, too."

[info]rhodus 2012-06-21 06:30 am UTC (link) Track This Rhode was waiting in her room, bouncing from one foot to the other and absently pulling rollers from her hair. Helios had given her more than one chance to back out during the planning, but there was no going back now, and she was glad for that. This way, they'd be married legally, they'd have the photos and papers to prove it, and those things could help anchor Helios to reality on his bad days. And, if she was being honest, she kind of liked the idea of getting to do the ceremony they'd never had back in ancient times.
A breeze came in off the sea, lifting her skirt and her hair, and she smiled as she hummed a little tune to herself. It wasn't quite time to head outside quite yet, so she sat in front of the mirror and fussed with her hair and makeup a bit. There wasn't much else to do to keep her hands occupied, which was what she really needed right now.

[info]behemothic 2012-06-21 06:53 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This It was a task to keep Rhode from flying off the handle the last few days, one few could tame. Helios had pampered and adorned her with attention, doing what he did best at keeping her grounded. Let her do as she wanted. He had a very flat way of cracking jokes with her. He'd given her the opportunity to jump ship if she wanted, but she'd become the buoy when he couldn't swim.
He'd done well enough to keep her calm. She'd still been tense even when he massaged her shoulders and neck to keep the tension out. While he settled into his tux with silver and gold cufflinks he was certain she'd worked herself up again. He wasn't within distance to talk to her as they'd gotten separate hotel rooms. Married or not Rhode was as much a stickler for tradition as he was.
He ran a hand through his hair, done with time to spare. He sat on the hotel bed, tapping his phone against his knee. He might not be allowed to see her, but he'd give her a friendly call. Text was so impersonal.
"Hey, babe. Just making sure you haven't hailed a cab down the street yet," he gave a soft chuckle. It should be enough to calm whatever nerves he knew she had. Truth be told he needed it too. In the back of his mind he was worried the headache he had was going to turn into something far worse.

[info]rhodus 2012-06-21 07:28 am UTC (link) Track This Rhode's hand shot out as soon as her phone started ringing. She didn't even have to glance at the screen to know it was Helios calling, she just hit answer and listened to him talk for a moment.
"Hush, you," she said with a laugh. "I'm fairly certain this island isn't big enough to even have cabs. If I wanted to leave, and I don't, so don't worry, I'd swim. Jump into the sea." She raised a hand to shove her hair back from her face, a reflexive motion, but stopped before she wrecked her hair.
"How are you holding up?" she went on. "Feeling alright?"

[info]behemothic 2012-06-21 07:41 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "I'm sure if I called around I could find another groom. There just aren't many handsome Titans hanging around that you might want to keep." He leaned over to tie a loose shoelace, cradling the phone between his shoulder and his ear.
"I'm alright. Just a headache. Probably the air in this room." The air conditioning was up a little too high for his tastes.

[info]rhodus 2012-06-21 08:07 am UTC (link) Track This "Oh shush," she laughed. "You're my Titan, and you're stuck with me, and I'm keeping you, so there." She brushed a loose curl back off her neck. She glanced out the window and watched the waves roll in, crashing on the beach. "I'd say this takes me back, but only certain bits, and the first go-round wasn't like this. This time will be better."
Her brow wrinkled a bit in concern. "Anything I can do?" she asked, concern lightly coloring her tone. "I'm sure we could scrounge up some Advil if we looked."

[info]behemothic 2012-06-21 04:18 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This He just listened to her talk, looking out the window at the same beach. "It wasn't easy then. I know now you felt passed around. I didn't realize that at first." He tucked his lip between his fingers, tugging on it slightly. "I was determined no matter what to make you happy. I think I succeeded. Or this is some big trap to keep me so you can torture me," he chuckled.
The line cracked a little, interference on the line. "I love you, babe. You kept me alive."
"I might need the whole bottle." He rubbed his forehead lightly. His temples were pounding.
