Who: Apollo, Thalia
What: brother/sister hangtimes
Where: Apollo (& Thalia's) apartment, Manhattan
When: Monday evening
Warnings: no warnings, but I can't stop thinking about Three's Company when I think of them living together and now I can't stop singing the song.
The good thing about Apollo taking up a nursing job was the time off. He really only worked three days a week, and he'd been at the same hospital long enough that he got those three days together. The only issue was that those three days, he worked twelve hours straight, and being in the same place for such a long time tended to get tedious. Trauma centers were not without excitement, but if the weather was nice and he was inside for too long, he started to get rude.
Normally, he'd work from 7 to 7, come home, shower, maybe eat, and immediately crash. Especially in the winter. Now that the days were longer, he felt energetic later in the day, and with Thalia living with him, he liked to stay up a bit later and chat with her. He'd stopped on the way home to pick up Chinese, not knowing if Thalia had eaten yet, or if she was even home. He managed to find his keys and open the door with one hand, the other carrying an oversized paper bag full of take-out.
"Thal?"

Living with Apollo had been good for Thalia. She couldn't retreat into her shell with him there, and she was slowly starting to feel better. It was going to be a long process, but this was definitely a step in the right direction.
She'd been flipping between cruising the classifieds and channel surfing when the door opened, the smell of take-out wafting inside. "In here," she called from the couch. "Ooh, you brought food!" she chirped, bouncing off the couch and taking it from him, then heading into the kitchen. "Best brother ever. Want me to get you a beer?"

He offered a wide smile as she jumped up and took the bag. He slipped the strap of his duffle bag over his head and tossed it in the general direction of his bedroom door. He didn't look to see if it made it.
"Please," he replied, following her into the kitchen, but hovering near the entryway. "How was your day?"

Thalia opened the fridge and took out two beers, unloading the bag and setting the containers on the table. She opened both bottles and passed him one, taking a deep swig from her own.
"Oh, you know," she said, opening the containers and examining them. "Looking for jobs, watching bad daytime TV, staring out the window and just watching the light change. In general just being lazy." She sighed. "I will break that habit yet. How was your day?"

He took a long drink from his beer before stepping all the way into the kitchen and grabbing some flatware from the drying rack. "General drudgery. Nothing too exciting happened. I was stuck in triage most of the day."
He passed her a fork before grabbing a paper sleeve and lifting the egg roll out of it. "I'm off the next few days. We could take a day trip. Rent a car, just drive somewhere." Apollo was naturally restless. It was common for him to move about, but it was no good to leave if he'd just be worrying about her. Things were generally more fun with Muses, anyway. "And I can always ask around at the hospital, you know. They're always hiring in some department or another."

"But you were doing good all day, I bet," she answered, popping a crab rangoon into her mouth. Opening a container of what proved to be pork fried rice, she stuck her fork in and began eating.
The idea wasn't something she considered lately, but the more she thought about it, the better it sounded. "Yes," she said, smiling. "That sounds like a great plan. We could go to the beach, now that it's nicer. I've always wanted to see Maine."

"Mostly taking temperatures and blood pressures. But I guess everything helps."
He pulled the second container closer to him, popping it open to let it cool off a bit while he drank. "Beach weather is the best kind of weather. As much as I love this apartment, it's been known to make people stir crazy. Myself included." He chewed for a moment, thinking. And it was still early enough that there wouldn't be many people. He enjoyed New York, but sometimes the crowds made him want to jump out of his skin. "Yes, I think the beach is a great idea."

"Hey, we all gotta do what we gotta do," she said. "And they love you over there."
"Agreed," she said, eating some more rice. "Something to do with the wind off the sea, I think. I've just always found it peaceful there. And I think I've got you beat in the stir crazy department, at least for now." She smiled though. "But getting away sounds wonderful."

"I should hope they do." He was haughty. Somewhat sarcastic. "They're all sworn by me, so..." He shrugged his shoulders and took another sip from his beer, hiding his grin behind the bottle.
"Then it's settled. I'll do reservations and all the boring things tonight. Look at us, making plans and being decisive." He'd been going through the motions lately; it felt good to be thinking of new things to do. "We'll keep each other from going crazy in here."
