Who: Sir Guy of Gisborne and Robin Hood
What: Unwelcome homecoming
Where: England
When: Long ago near the end of the crusade
Note: Reposted as a favour
Things had been going rather well. The services he'd rendered for the Sheriff had paid off in lands of his own, command of his own men and one very beautiful woman who would finally turn her attentions fully his way when she understood that it was what was best for her.
Sir Guy...he did like that title...lounged on the chair left by the last master of the house and surveyed his little realm with a certain amount of pride. It was like the chair was made for him.

The Crusades had taken a toll on the English Lord. His father had died while he was away, leaving the young Lord of Loxely to inherit his lands. After years of fighting for King Richard, a king that he would defend until the day he died, Robin found that home didn't look much like home anymore.
He approached Loxley manner, finding the inhabitants sullen, weak and frail. There was an eerie vibe as he approached, all his old servants, everything that his father had left. According to the people, some of who didn't recognize him as he'd been a teenage boy skipping off to the Holy Lands for honor; not to be the same Master Robin that they remembered. He was a man now.
"What's happened to Loxely manor?" he asked a villager. "Lord Loxley died, Guy of Gisborne is the new Lord." The old man hung his head before scampering off. Better not to have spoken.
"Gisborne?" Robin said surprised. His eyes cut over to the manor, slipping in by the back. It felt strange to be sneaking into his own home. He saw Gisborne, lounging in that chair as if it were his. Robin drew his bow back, an arrow shooting from behind just grazing by Guy's ear.
"Don't get too comfortable Gisborne!" the young Loxley bellowed.

"GUARDS!" He had come up out of the chair with a growling command. How dare they let an attacker and weapon get this close! His men were well armed and trained even if they weren't as good as the men that the fool of a King had dragged off to war.
"Why shouldn't I be comfortable? It's my chair now." He had his sword in hand to face his attacker. He didn't recognize the young man right off but the coloring and the proprietary voice over the chair gave him the clues he needed. "...Loxley."

Robin shot a few arrows, pinning a few of the guards to the wall, kicking and beating the others before he grabbed one of their swords and fearlessly clanked it against Gisborne's. The bow went over his head, hanging against his back.
"Wrong," he said confidently, "My lands, my home. Go back to where you crawled out of." He then switched hands more than ready to fight Gisborne.

"Not your lands anymore Loxley." Obviously the men weren't well trained enough if one man took them out that easily. He sneered at his opponent.
"The lands are given by the crown...and the crown sits on a different head now. These are no longer Loxley lands by royal decree." He lightly flicked his sword out to test the Loxley's guard.

Robin wasn't surprised at how easily he could take down a few guards. They were rubbish, and he'd spent the last ten or so years fighting. He was on top of his game.
"I'm not dead, therefore that decree is rubbish," Robin snorted. "Gisborne," Robin tilted his head as if he was almost disappointed. "Do you really want it to end like this?" he teased, "we all know who will win this fight." He was baiting. Gisborne had a temper, Robin was just having fun despite how angry he was that his lands had been passed around like day old ham.

Normally this would have made him angry. Loxley was right he had a temper and it was a weak spot.
But this time he started laughing.
"The lands weren't decreed mine because you were thought dead. There's a small matter of the Sheriff having a signed confession from your father for crimes against the crown." There was a malicious glint to his eyes. "You should read it sometime."

"Thought and truth are two different things Gisborne."
"I don't believe you," Robin spoke heavily. He would never believe such accusations. "My father loved his country and his King, nothing you say will taint that," he insisted.

"Signed...confession...really it doesn't matter if you believe me Loxley. The papers were signed, witnessed and filed. Your lands and titles..." He made a little gesture with his off hand without dropping his guard.
"Gone like smoke."

"Lies," he insisted. He lunged forward clanking swords, somewhat impressed with any repel Gisborne gave.
"And why you Gisborne? You bedding the Sheriff?" he laughed. Of all people for his lands to go to, why had they chosen this creep unless there was an underlying deal.

He wasn't tested on the battlefield like Loxley was but he'd had the best training you could get outside of not dying on an enemy's blade in the crusade.
"Because I'm a loyal subject of the crown." Of course there was a deal. And it was all about money and mutual benefit. "Tsk tsk Loxley you aren't titled anymore they'll hang you as a traitor for attacking me." He was trying to sound relaxed about it but in reality he was just doing his best not to get skewered here.
"Then what will happen to your precious people?"

"Gisborne, I'm touched, and here I thought you were just playing hard to get," he teased.
"Well then if I'm to be hanged, at least I'll get a good hit before I die!" He whipped around swinging his sword again, this time with more aggression. Guy didn't intimidate him.

There was a growl as the sword cut through cloth and skin staining his shirt with blood. He might not intimidate him but the guards were starting to free themselves and there would be reinforcements coming.
"I'll see you dead for this Loxley!"

"Oooo!" Robin jumped up on a nearby table just as the guards started to filter into the room. "I look forward to it!" he replied dropping the sword to the floor, skidding it to Gisborne's feet before taking a bow.
His bow was back in his hand shooting off arrows, narrowly missing the guard's vital organs and going for the stun factor, quite possibly on purpose. Robin didn't like killing. Not anymore.

"GET HIM YOU IDIOTS!" He scooped up the second sword and ignored the pain from the cut he'd taken. After this he was definitely hiring some better help! The Sherif would need to hear about this. They hadn't planned for Loxley to return.
The guards were doing their best but they weren't trained for this. They did have the advantage of numbers though.

Robin threw Gisborne a wink before jumping down and dancing around as he poked and threw punches at the guards with the end of his bow, and a little fist work. Robin knew how to hold down a fight even when he was outnumbered. As long as all their swords didn't come around in a ring around him, he could skip out sooner or later.

They were a little disorganized but Guy had a sword in each hand and marched to join the fight. He smirked a little hearing the alarm bell ringing out in the main courtyard. It would call the others in to the fight.

Robin flipped his body around, he wasn't small, but he was lithe enough to get past these big thugs. He shot another arrow, his last at one of Guy's sword's letting it bounce off the metal, screwing with Gisborne's grip on it.
No one in all of England would be known for their archery like Robin. He buzzed past, pushing Guy with his foot from behind before scooting down the manor hall.
"Tell the Sheriff I said hello!" He laughed. "I make quite the handsome dead guy don't you think Gisborne?" arms held out before he bid adieu, skipping down through the kitchen grabbing a few scraps on his way back out. He needed to think. Hitch a plan.

"You..." He grabbed the closest guard and hauled him close. "...go take a message to the Sheriff. Loxley has returned." He shoved the man away from him and swore viciously at the state of his men.
Oh Loxley would pay. This land was his now and he wasn't giving it up!
