Apollo/Cassandra

Apollo had a lot of thoughts all at once. Part of him was trying to avoid Daphne, because he honestly wasn't sure how strong Eros' stupid arrow actually was, and he didn't trust himself to be too close to her. Plus, if he touched her, his sister might strangle him. Daphne might strangle him.

Then there was his mother, who he'd been trying to keep a close eye on ever since he'd heard about her abduction, and with Hera in the room, he was being especially careful.

So he didn't notice Cassandra near him at first. When he did, he locked on her for a good minute. He remembered her, though the memories were very old. He also had a very long, tumultuous list of lovers, of which this woman...was not a part of.

Now he remembered her, in stark clarity. It was her brother whose stare was trying to burn a hole through him. It struck him as odd that Hera would invite once-mortal Greeks. It made him curious to what was actually going on.

"Daughter of Troy." His voice was neutral, though he knew it was a wrong to so carelessly bring up the past. "...What brings you here?"

"Ruin," she told him simply, eyes on his. There was only a little fear there, coupled with sadness. "Trojan girls, like moths burning themselves in the sting of the sun."

Hector wasn't too fond of risking his life to get his sister, but Andromache wanted to leave and he wasn't going to abandon her with the sun god near.

He gave Apollo a respectful enough bow but the fact that he'd cursed his little sister was never something he'd just forget. He glanced to Cassandra and set his hand on her shoulder. "Cassie? Come along now. We're going home."

Apollo frowned at the interruption, but didn't react straightaway. He'd had enough of Trojans years ago.

"Is your sister not allowed to do as she pleases?" He wasn't stupid; he had every reason in the world not to trust her around the god who'd cursed her.

And Apollo could have left well enough alone, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't still enjoy stirring things up a bit.

This could end with him being a nice crispy patch on the ground, but Hector took hold of his sister's shoulder. He just smiled, "my sister does not always remember herself, and we do not belong here. There is no one else to take her home."

His eyebrow raised at that. He wasn't sure what he'd expected, but it wasn't such a reasonable response.

"I respect your concern for your sister. See her home safely." There wasn't much else he could say. If the tables had been turned, he would be the same with his own sister.

Cassandra looked at her brother. "I wish to stay," she told Hector clearly, sounding more together than she had in days. "Do my wishes mean nothing?"

He sighed, usually they did but this was different. He wasn't about to leave his sister in this den of vipers without protection. "This isn't the place for us Cassandra. Don't make me choose between keeping you and Andromache safe. Please, let's just go home."

Cassandra turned to him and her voice was a low hiss. "I'll cut your heart out!" Then she blinked and pressed a hand to her temple, confused and unsure of herself or why she'd just said that. She nodded a little to Hector. Yes, they should leave.

She cast her eye back to Apollo. "I take my leave, Apollo Agraeus," Cassandra said, bowing low to the God who had destroyed her. "Another time, when the wolves hold back."
