Thetis almost warranted a different greeting, but Amphitrite simply didn't have it in her. She hadn't been sleeping well, her dreams were filled with strange shapes and screams. Nor was she happy. That was what made all the difference. She had slowly been getting back to happiness and it had all been taken away in a matter of minutes. Thus was the life of the Sea Queen.

"I'm not much for alcohol, either," she said with a sad little smile in response to her nephew. She was suddenly surprised she hadn't yet seen him before now.

Her voice dropped, partly because she preferred not to be overheard and also because she had a hard time saying it. "Zeus killed Poseidon the other night. I saw the whole thing." How she didn't burst into tears was probably surprising, but she had already been emotionally drained and she felt dry. There were no tears left.

Achilles arched a brow at the revelation looking over toward his mother. His hand absently laid atop Amphitrite's in some silent comfort. He knew the wrath of Zeus and he himself had escaped it when he'd allowed Hybris to invade and influence him. It was a fate that near befell him.

Triton was late, mostly because he was dealing with the fall out of his father's death and trying to keep the pieces together. He'd only just managed to talk Mel out of coming. He didn't want to expose her to the shark pit that was the Gods of Olympus.

Unlike his mother he hadn't yet mourned. The news had just rang a dull echo inside him, and he wasn't sure how to feel. With how he'd treated Mel, part of Triton was rather relieved to see his father get his. But he didn't tell anyone this, least of all his mother.

He smiled at his mother when he saw her, drawing near to take a hug from her. He set his hand on her cheek, not knowing what to say or do, and then rose. "Mother." He turned and smiled to his aunt and cousin. "Aunt, cousin. My pardons for being late."

Amphitrite knew Poseidon had it coming. Hell, she had even congratulated Medusa for finally giving him a piece of his own medicine! She just couldn't fathom the idea that he was actually dead. He would come back, she knew that much. But would he come back worse than before or would he come back different, new? Would he be more understanding and stop his selfish ways? Chances were, no. That's what she believed.

For Triton she welcomed that hug, because he meant more to her than anyone may realize. Even though he resembled his father physically he was her son. She offered him a small smile. She had come alone and while she had expected to stay alone the whole time, only making an appearance long enough to find out exactly what this thing was all about, she did feel somewhat better knowing she had part of her family with her.
