Ariel/Kymopleia
The only non-Greek at an all Greek Party. IF that didn't scream 'out of her depth' she didn't know what would. But when she felt Poseidon die, and she'd known what it was when she'd been swimming (Child of water as she was) and spend a good few hours panicking. But he'd left instructions (damn him and his bones for that). She was to go, look after his wife, and see what there was to see.
Ariel desperately wanted to be miles the other way. Preferably near a warm and sandy beach, where she could sing and ride the waves. But now with the Water God dead, the water felt strange.
It had been a pinch, but she'd found a decent gown. Blue, because it showed who she belonged to (And she knew Greeks, best to get that message across), and she'd decided if she was going to do this, she'd do it big. She kept her eyes open for the Water-Queen, keeping to a corner and avoiding most eyes, but she knew this was like blood to sharks. Sooner or later one of them would smell it and come hunt her down.

[info]waveranging 2011-06-26 02:25 pm UTC (link) Track This Kymopoleia liked excuses to drink and it was rare she saw all the gods together like this. She could hardly say no to such an invite, and as one so low in power it wasn't probably smart to go along just to not piss off Hera. No one would protect Kymopoleia should she get on the wrong side of that hag.
Especially not now that Poseidon was dead. Her father wouldn't have protected her, but still she felt a little more exposed without him around. For his memory she dressed in blue - only a shade lighter than her hair - in a dress that reminded her of her own beloved ocean waves.
She didn't write much on the blogs, but that didn't mean she didn't read them and follow. Which was why she recognised the blonde woman, the non-Greek stranger in their midst.
So Kymopoleia made her way over there to the mermaid and said, eying her with curiosity. "I know who you are. You work for Poseidon."

[info]under_the_sea 2011-06-26 07:19 pm UTC (link) Track This The feeling of water made her straighten and glance around. From talk, she knew what the water queen looked like, and this didn't feel like Poseidon's son. Therefor when the blue haired woman stood in front of her, she was half curious to who this could be.
But she was polite enough to smile, and nod. "Yes. I do." Dead or not he still paid her and she had to keep his company above water, all puns intended. "I don't think I know you, though."

[info]waveranging 2011-06-28 09:05 am UTC (link) Track This "We haven't met," Kymopoleia told the blonde, still looking interested in her. What was so interesting to her father about this non-Greek then? Was there something special that had brought her here, into the abode of the Olympians. "You can call me Ky," she finally said and then looked around. "Enjoying the show?"

[info]under_the_sea 2011-06-28 09:23 am UTC (link) Track This She hadn't met anyone here, save the now dead water god. She'd kick his bones for this, if she knew where they were. At least only one had noticed her, in stead of several. "I will." She sensed the trap and smiled, "As much as I can, being the odd duck out. But, boss made orders. I do what I must."
She wondered when the question of 'are you sleeping with Poseidon' would manage to get asked.

[info]waveranging 2011-06-28 09:33 am UTC (link) Track This Kymopoleia didn't need to ask that. Ky had already made the assumption, since she was attractive and breathing. Those were Poseidon's only requirements in a sexual partner. The breathing part might have even been optional.
"So have you met the wife yet?" Ky asked with a small smirk, looking over to where her mother was moping. "I guess she doesn't want your head since she's too busy mourning." Ky laughed, low and throaty, at the very idea of mourning Poseidon.
