Who: Oedipus and The Sphinx
What: There's a kitty on your doorstep...but this one likes flesh!
When: Monday night
Where: Oedipus' apartment

There was something to be said about getting used to the work of a 9 to 5 job. He was starting to miss the days he got to hide behind the computer screen and not physically talk or see the people he worked with except on larger deliveries. Already just a week into having opened his store he'd run into Pandora. Now that wasn't the worst he could have run into, but he was lucky he hadn't put a crowbar to her beloved box. Things could have really gotten ugly---and it would have been his luck to have that thing laughing at him like the rest of the world.

The little calico was settled on her leash/harness like some kind of dog as they walked back to the apartment. The bad thing about having a cat was it wouldn't shut up. It was like feeding and changing diapers all over again. It clawed everything (including himself) and wouldn't leave his side as if he were it's mother. He was waiting for the day he could toss it out the truck window and watch it sit in a ditch until someone picked it up. He wasn't sure really if he was attached to it or just that terribly lonely that he would take in a cat as if it were like his own kid.

Walking up the steps of the apartment building he started to fish out his keys for the door when he felt that rise of bile in his throat. It smelled like death and suddenly that made him take a step back and swallow. The kitten cried climbing up his back and nestled on his shoulder like a parrot. There was something creepy in the atmosphere.

Sphinx had been cleaned up. After she'd been found by the Gods, Hera had dressed her, fed her and cleaned her. She looked a lot better now then she had before. It had many mortals make comments that she didn't get, which ended in her making lunch out of them.

She had been perched near the door, grinning when she'd smelled him. The other feline was ignored. She was the larger predator here. She slinked up onto the stairs, right in his path. "Cursed one. It holds most knowledge that has ever been said; But is not the brain, is not the head. To feathers and their masters, 'tis both bane and boon. . .One empty, and one full. " She hoped he'd say something like 'what' or 'you' because she could count that as an answer and finally, finally wrap her hands around his neck.

She may have been better put together, not quite the walking crazy person he'd met on the street before, but she still had the smell of blood on her breath. It made his toes curl, and not pleasantly.

The kitten hissed violently which caused Oedipus to smack her on the nose so she'd keep quiet. He wondered if a rolled up newspaper would work on Sphinx like it did for little Sphinxie. Then again, he also hoped the monstrous lion figure didn't walk around pissing in corners or on peoples front step. He was about to open his mouth to say she'd better not have soiled his front step rug when she threw out her riddle.

Of course. Why wouldn't she? Seriously? Couldn't she just speak or not speak without those riddles.

He'd thought of pushing past her, but those nails looked mighty sharp and he'd rather his neck not be torn to ribbons. He held out a finger as if to tell her to give him a minute, but as he had before he spat back an answer easily.

"Paper." Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

She curled up her lips and felt her fingers twitch. He was the one prey who kept walking away. Her eyes narrowed and she stepped aside, finding a spot in the sun. Cleaned up or not she was already stained with blood on her lips and fingers. Signs that his neighbors had been less then lucky upon meeting her.

She hopped onto the railing with a grace humans did not possess and looked out to the street, taking up her old duty again and lamenting that he would walk away again.

It would always be the same reaction. Just as he was cursed to live with his curiosity, he would always be able to answer her riddles. He grinned rather smugly at that even when she curled onto the railing.

Was she just going to stay there? That's all he needed was a hungry cannibal sitting outside his door for however long. His neighbors (if he still had any) wouldn't be too keen on the idea.

Opening the door he unleashed little Sphinxie from her harness as she went tearing into the dark house looking for a place to hide. She near clawed his shoulder trying to get down.
