Who: Conchobar and Deirdre Where: Random or is it really? run-in When: Monday, March 20th What: Conchobar not letting go Note: Reposted as a favour
Deirdre's actions had not gone off Conchobar's radar. It was humiliating that she thought by up and moving that she'd beat him at his own game. For now, she had. Conchobar had a lot of contacts, so finding her wouldn't be difficult. It was probably too easy. Letting her believe he would keep his distance was only the start. He'd been too infatuated with Deirdre since seeing her as a young girl to ever think she wasn't to be his. He found, he conquered, he obtained.
The cap pulled over his eyes he stepped aside to let the lady pass as he headed down the street. Once she was a few steps away he turned to follow. It was Deirdre. She was likely to know he was there, but he was unlikely to leave her alone.

[info]depthofsorrow 2012-03-20 07:18 pm (local) (link) Track This Spring brought warmth back, and for her brought her out of a lot of melancholy. Winter always depressed her and while she had plenty of things to smile about now, she still had days where she did nothing but mope.
But the warmer weather helped loads and she'd planned to do some light shopping and see if Perseus would mind if she dropped by. But then she felt an all too familiar tingle up her spine and her first reaction was to run away. The second was aggravation, and that made her just sigh and ignore it. She'd learned the worst thing she could do to Conchobar was not yell at him, but simply pretend he wasn't there. His ego was often too big to let that go. So she raised her head and continued to walk like he wasn't close by.

[info]son_of_ness 2012-03-20 11:46 pm (local) (link) Track This Running is what the beautiful girl was good at. As he picked up his pace he expected her to panic. Part of him would delight in it. Trapping his mouse in the net always brought the best out of him. It was like the prize after a hunt.
She was doing a fine job of ignoring him, but the less she said or did, it only irritated that fragile ego more. She may find herself a free woman, but he wouldn't let her soon forget that in his mind they were still more than just acquaintances. It was that blind obsession. So he followed, waiting for any glitch in that strong presence she attempted to emit.
She wouldn't call attention to herslef, she was much too simple for that. Though his constant pursuit, even across lanes of traffic to the other side of the street could shatter her nerves. He hoped she didn't end up the bloody mess he remembered in the past.

[info]depthofsorrow 2012-03-20 11:58 pm (local) (link) Track This His presence irritated her, and frightened her. Despite how much she tried she couldn't always forget that once upon a time he'd been the King she owed her fealty to. That and one could hardly forget being hunted by someone. She'd spend half her life looking over her shoulder, and it hadn't even paid off in the end. He'd driven her to end her life.
But now she remembered Briseis and Patroclus. Patrick, and most importantly Perseus. All those who cared, all those who would keep her safe. It helped.
She still glanced in a window to see him near her and took a breath. Running or screaming at him would make her look odd. And while she hardly liked having to hide with Perseus she hoped he wouldn't mind. So she let her feet take her to where he worked. Maybe Conchobar would get the hint that she'd refuse to acknowledge his presence any other way.

[info]son_of_ness 2012-03-21 08:23 pm (local) (link) Track This He meant to frighten her, because that's how Conchobar reigned in his prizes. He proved intimidating to anyone he came in contact with. He was quite the huntsman, though more like a sportsman. He played his game with a strategic plan in mind. He'd been watching Deirdre for weeks. The more comfortable she became in thinking she was safe from him, the more delightful this whole thing was. No friends of hers were going to steer him on another path.
Conchobar caught up with her, just a few steps from her through the doorway. If he greeted her with politeness no one else would suspect a thing. He may have said hello in a persuasive voice, but there was distinct threat layered underneath it.
"Afternoon. I happened to see you across the street. Thought I'd say hello."

[info]depthofsorrow 2012-03-21 08:37 pm (local) (link) Track This She sighed. So he hadn't caught her meaning. She looked up to him and each time she did she felt proud of herself. So long she'd spend unable to do or say anything to him because he'd owned her. He didn't anymore, but those habits had been hard to break. Now she could stand up for herself. At least somewhat.
"I'd hoped you'd get hit by a car. I guess I didn't get what I wanted." She crossed her arms, knowing he wouldn't be getting out of her way any time soon. But he couldn't physically do anything to her. He could just huff and puff. "What do you want Mac Ness? I thought I'd made it clear I don't want you around me."

[info]son_of_ness 2012-03-22 06:26 pm (local) (link) Track This "Isn't that a rude thing to say to your husband?" He grinned charmingly, not put off by the display. She was at least more vigilant than in the past. She'd been all but a broken doll when he'd had her. This was the side of Deirdre he'd wanted to see.
He rubbed a finger over his lip, in thought. "See that's the thing. I really have no intention of disappearing."

[info]depthofsorrow 2012-03-22 07:30 pm (local) (link) Track This Still that empty rhetoric. It took a lot for her to just not haul of and punch him. Her jaw clenched and she glared at him. "You are not my husband you idiot," she hissed. "You gave me up, remember? You broke those ties yourself. Then I died. Those ties are long past holding and I will never agree to another vow like that. I am not yours. I will never be yours."
Sighing she shook her head, "I wish you would. I wish you would disappear and never return." She went to step around him, already tired of him.

[info]son_of_ness 2012-03-22 10:35 pm (local) (link) Track This "Well, things are different now." He held grudges fairly long, and Deirdre wasn't forgiven just yet. If she would ever be.
"I can't grant that wish," his head turned looking at her longingly, lustful, but not needy.

[info]depthofsorrow 2012-03-24 03:37 am (local) (link) Track This She groans and turns to him, her anger visible. "That's the entire point Mac Ness. Things are different now. You have no more claims on me, you never had." She really wants to hit him, but she doesn't.
"Gods, you pushed me to death." She shook her head, "don't you recall my curse Mac Ness? You decided to enact it. You caused so much death and despair, just out of ego. Let it go. Let me go. I will never be yours. I have my life now. I have happiness. I may yet have love. Do yourself a favor and find that for yourself and stop obsessing over me. I'm not worth it."
