Who: Deirdre and Conchobar
What: Conchobar tracks down Di's place and pretends to have a broken down car.
Where: Deirdre's place
When: Friday afternoon
Note: Reposted as a favour
His car was parked just down the street. He sat there for a few minutes, rustling his gloves on before stepping out. It was early afternoon when most people were at work, but not quite time for lunch. He ran a gloved hand across the hood of his car, popping to fiddle around inside. Nothing was actually wrong with the fancy black car, but that wasn't for anyone to know.
He flipped on a pair of shades, taking the battery out of his cell phone which was thrown in his coat pocket. He walked across the street surveying the other houses to see who was home and who wasn't. No one but the Irish beauty he'd been meaning to 'run into'. He knocked on Deirdre's door, stepping back so that when the door was open she couldn't see his face.
"I'm sorry," he started, "My car broke down just a few houses down but no one seems to be home. My cell phone is dead, I just need to make a quick call for a tow truck. Mind if I use yours?" When he turned he flipped those shades up, shock hitting his eyes.
"Wow," he said with feigned surprise, "well isn't this is unexpected."

Most of her day had been spend trying to decide what to wear. She'd already spend yesterday with Perseus but that had been relaxed and meant to distract her. This was an honest date, and she wanted to look nice.
She'd expected to find the neighbor's son who had volunteered to look after Gandalf but instead she'd gotten the irritating man who just couldn't take no. She sighed but buried her irritation. He was just in need of a phone. "Of course. Wait here."
Gandalf had come to see who it was and she pushed him inside before grabbing her phone and handing it to the man, unwilling to allow him inside. "Here you are."

When she kept that distance inside blocked he threw a half-hearted smile, taking the phone from her hands. He started to dial the number but paused, motioning around with his other hand. "Know a tow company nearby or have a phone book?" He begrudgingly gave her another half-smile and a light chuckle. He wasn't going to hurt her.

She glanced to her dog, assured he'd be of help. Then with a sigh she stepped back, "I should have a phone book in here. lease," she motioned him inside and dug around one of her cabinets. When she found one she set it down for him. "Go ahead."

"Thank you," he said in the nicest way possible. It would do no good to blow his cover now, he'd come mighty close the other night. Though he was immortal, Deirdre could clearly feel that his youthful image was just not something she could recognize. That was at least the only way he was playing it. She could have been too traumatized at the idea of Conchobar around that she was blindly looking him over.
"I'm not stalking, I promise," he joked, following her into the main entrance of her home. He gave another thank you while he flipped through a few pages. He tapped the phone against the phone book, looking around shyly, or as shyly as he could.
"Nice place you've got here."

She nodded, petting the head of her dog to keep distracted. No matter how much he tried, or tried too hard, she just did not like him. She didn't have it a lot so she wasn't sure why she didn't, but it was there. "Thank you." Her place was sparely decorated, she'd never needed a lot, but it felt like home to her.
She took a seat on her couch, keeping one eye on him and the other on her knitting. She didn't feel comfortable, but she'd manage.

He could feel that uncomfortable vibe radiate through her. She recoiled from him in the same way she had so many years ago. Never giving in, never letting him have her completely. It pissed him off, but he made sure to not showcase that annoyance while he flipped through a few more pages. It would do no good to scare her off now, he wouldn't have enjoyed slipping in underneath her so easily if she found out too soon.
Fingering down a few lines he paused, thumb poised to dial the number. He could see her out of the corner of his eye, glaring him down like he needed to be monitored.
After a few busy signals (and false dialing) he flipped through a few more pages.
"Busy signal," he shook his head. After a few long drawn out minutes he called a tow company on the other side of town. It wasn't the closest, but it also wasn't the furthest away. He didn't want her to think he'd done this on purpose now would he?
Stalking over towards her he handed her the phone. "It'll be about half an hour they said. The closest one I could never get a signal for. Funny that." He wasn't at all apologetic, but his face showed otherwise.

She glanced up to him and with a smile she took the phone back. "It's alright. Rising she put her phone aside. Now she had to go and play host to him. She wasn't fond of it, but she did owe him her hospitality now. "Well then, let me get you something to drink while you wait. No need to be in that cold."
Smiling she walked to her kitchen, making him some tea. It was all she had so she hoped it would be alright. "Do you take tea a certain way?" she was being polite and it was a lot. She didn't need to. All in all she could just kick him out. She had that right.

"Tea is fine." He followed her around into the kitchen, taking in the surroundings as if it all really mattered. It didn't, but that was why he had on his pretending face.
Resting his hip alongside the counter top he watched her with acute interest. "A little milk a two sugars."

She tried to ignore him, and how he made her feel. She didn't like the hovering. When the tea was finished she handed him the mug with a smile. She had very little to say now, so she took her own mug and sipped from it.

It was right back to where they'd been the first time. It was a little too repetitive. He'd made an advance into her space, she still was clueless.
Taking hold of his cup, blowing lightly against the hot liquid before tasting it himself. "Not bad." She at least was more hospitable under these circumstances.
"How long you been here?" he asked under the charming mask.

"Thank you," She shrugged to his question. "A few months now. I used to live a bit in the countryside, but I moved here so I could have more social interaction. I closed myself off to much." And she couldn't keep hiding from herself and everything else. Good things had come from it either way.

He took a seat beside her on the couch, settling in as if he lived there.
"Now why would you do that?" He chewed on his bottom lip, eyes gleaming with interest before taking another sip of tea.

She really didn't like how he did that, for some reason, and hoped the tow truck would come here soon. She sipped from her tea and shrugged. "I had my reasons." She didn't really feel like telling him too much about herself.

She was still hanging on tight. Wouldn't budge in the slightest to warming up to him.
He tapped a finger against the tea cup. "What part of Ireland are you from?"

"County Armagh," it was what her town was called now. Calling it anything else would be confusing. She sipped from her tea, "and yourself?" Curiously she glanced to the clock, wishing the tow truck to speed up a bit.

He grinned holding off on that question for as long as he could. It was about then that the knock came to her door.
"Looks like my ride is here," he shrugged. He reluctantly started to get up. "Sure I can't repay you for your hospitality?" He handed her the cup.

Smiling she stood up, never having been this grateful to be interrupted. She took the cup and shook her head. "I'm very sure. Do be careful. And happy holidays."

He grinned real pretty, a softness that inside he hardly possessed. Inside those teeth were grating. "One day," he promised her, tipping his head in thanks.
"Thank you for the tea." Now he knew where she lived. As he walked off giving a wave to the tow man he growled, motioning him across the street. Once hey were out of view from Deirdre he fished out a few bills to pay the man. "Take the car as far as two blocks then drop it off. I'm not paying you anymore than that."
He'd leave her alone for a little while before striking again. She was pissing him off.
