Who: William Shakespeare and Elpis
Where: An evening out (park then dinner?) forgive my lack of creativity right now
When: Sunday afternoon
What: The Bard is looking for some company
Note: Reposted as a favour
The world had settled in William's bubble now that spring break had started. His students were still a mystery to the old Bard, they tested his patience with their silly questions and lack of reading. How did one expect to write an essay with only using sparknotes as their study? Sparknotes was a fantastic invention, but it would not be enough for his class.
It was the weekend. That meant Will was feeling sociable. He was a likeable creature when he wasn't spending his days wrapped up with himself. He'd been writing more these days. That was an accomplishment! It meant that all was not lost in his future! The new William Shakespeare!
His ladies were rather busy. Clio had a darling girl to attend to. Mel and Thal had been quiet as muses were sometimes accustomed to. He only hoped they had not forgotten him. Pandora had also been absent, which while it worried him, it wasn't unlike her to vanish. Her daughter however was available. Though he had Pandora's warning looming against him, he wasn't about to let a beautiful creature such as Elpis spend an evening alone. Not when he was also alone. He had called her out for the afternoon, seating himself on a park bench to people watch. He scribbled notes down into his ledger, listing peculiar markings or features that stood out from the way they walked to the mole on the side of one's face. It was how he created some of his most fascinating characters. Now days they gave their entire life away on a cell phone. That too sparked interest!

Once she'd gotten Pandora set up in her little apartment, Elpis had gone off to talk to Prometheus. The Titan had explained everything and she'd just shook her head. Those two, really.
But then William had called and with a smile she'd changed her path to the park. The box was safe enough in her purse (and she'd already decided never to tell Pandora she'd let the box near one of her lovers) and William was a decent sort. She knew he slept with Pandora, but it didn't bother her all too much.
Grinning she waved at him before sitting down next to him and glancing at his notes. "Writing again, huh? Good for you."

Elpis' gorgeous smile was all he needed. William looked up from his steady position, shutting his ledger as she approached. He returned her sweet smile with a delighted one. "Taking notes. I enjoy watching the world go by while I jot down all their dirty little secrets." He slipped the elastic band around the book and set it down beside him. He took her hand gently between his with a soft kiss on the top. "How are you?"

She grinned to the kiss on her hand before taking her hand back. "I'm alright. Same old, same old. Mom's back." She figured Pandora wouldn't have let that out yet, especially not if she was afraid that Prometheus' father would come and kill her again. "She'll probably be happy to see you. But how are you?"

His concern for Pandora sprung up! His dark lady! "Is she ill? Where did she disappear to?" he asked, that soft smile turning almost tortured inside. He couldn't help but be worried, they were the best of lovers and the worst of lovers. He could hate her for all her follies and broken hearts, but he still loved her as William loved many women. "I am well. It is a beautiful afternoon. I wanted to share it with the most excellent of company." He gave her a curious smile. "And to see you again." It may have been over exaggerated, but he had every intention of getting to know her better.

She bit her lip for a moment before nodding. "She'll be alright. She, well she died. Family thing." She shrugged, "the rest you have to ask her. When she feels up to it of course. She won't like I've shared this much already. She's weird." She grinned then, "well I'm happy to offer company, and you do flatter William."

He seemed surprised, the calm look drained from his features. "You will tell her I asked about her? Let her know I'm thinking of her." He smiled. "You are wonderful company. I do hope you will let an old writer continue to flatter you and take you out for lunch." He stood drawing her up with him. "Shall we?"

She nodded, "of course I'll tell her. She'll be happy to know you worry about her." Smiling she rose with him and nodded. "Lunch sounds excellent really. So lead on."

William took her hand leading the way, book tucked under his other arm. Her features reminded him of his dark lady, but her personality was so light and easy. Her presence made him feel completely at ease. She had pressed him to keep writing. Many told him, his muses especially, but she was the right light at the right time.
He curled his fingers around hers as they took the steps down the subway. "It's a charming place on the Upper West side." Once they arrived to the Boat Basin Cafe the view was incredible. Perfect for an outside lunch and inspiration. They were seated quickly as there were not many out this time of afternoon. With the menu displayed Will gave her an excited smile. "Anything you like my dear, anything at all and it is yours."

Elpis followed easily and happily enough. He was nice enough and important to Pandora. That alone made her more eager to try and be friends with him. And he seemed to need her presence and she wouldn't deny anyone hope.
When they sat she smiled and glanced to the menu. "Thanks."

"The view is magnificent isn't it?" he asked looking over his menu to capture her beautiful eyes. She was perfect. From the bright twinkle in her eyes to the gorgeous white smile. Even her soft little dimples brought a smile to William's face. She was the picture perfect vision for his new heroine. What he chose to write now would be the start of his new existance. William Shakespeare would never die. He couldn't, even when the world picked him to pieces.

Smiling she nodded, setting the menu down. "It is, and that's not really subtle." She could tell when someone was flirting with her. She didn't mind, as long as it stayed like that. She could never be with someone her mother was sort of seeing. "Thank you for taking me here."

"I'm not known for my subtlbility." William was a pretentious flirt. He made all his gestures big. He wasn't even hinting at the attraction he had for her, he pulled out like a gust of wind. Strong and heavy. He may have seen resemblance to her mother, but when he looked at Elpis, Pandora didn't even come to mind. And while his words were polished and full of compliments, it would be no secret that he wished to have her. William was good at underlying the nitty gritty of his desires with feathered and pretty details.
"You are most welcome." He flagged down the waitress for a cup of their best coffee while they waited to order.

She just smiled. She figured that until he tried something really overt she could let him flirt. Flirting wasn't hurting anything. When the waitress came she gave the mortal a bright grin as she ordered. People in this service could always use her influence, so she hardly minded giving the girl some.
Seeing her walk away with a brighter step really made up for it all. "So, besides the writing and the teaching, what's keeping you busy?"

It was amazing to watch how Elpis' smile and kind words radiated off each person she contacted. Already the air around them seemed lighter, the dark clouds of those within the restaurant lifted. She was magic. A tempest with the brightest of influences!
He seemed in a daze, watching her with amazed eyes until her question grazed right by him. "Hmmm? Oh," he straightened up, "grading papers and schoolwork is the extent of my afternoon and nights these days." With his favorites missing, and no girl to curl next to at night, William was alone.
