WHO: Pandora & William
WHEN: Friday afternoon
WHERE: The university
WHAT: Apologies with coffee
NOTE: Reposted as a favor
They'd have one of their arguments a few days earlier and although it had been vicious it was the first real fight they'd have since Pandora had come back into Will's life. After a few days to cool off though, it all felt stupid and petty - because the both of them were extremely talented at petty over-dramatics - and so Pandora decided to be the bigger party and make amends.
She showed up at his class with two coffees in hand and watched quietly from the open rear door as he lectured to his class. She didn't miss the subject the of the lecture: Shakespeare's Dark Lady sonnets. Pandora suddenly had to wonder if this was a new subject brought on by their fight or simply a coincidence that she'd come today.
When he spotted her Pandora gave him a little smile of apology and lifted the coffee cup that was his in greeting.

William settled against the side of his desk, glasses perched on his nose while he read aloud one of his sonnets, hand flapping in the air.
"In the old age black was not counted fair,
Or if it were, it bore not beauty's name;
But now is black beauty's successive heir,
And beauty slandered with a bastard shame..."
He paused when he felt her presence by the door. He continued to read, feeding his hurt and anger through his words, which for the first time in months his students were entranced. "Continue reading and we'll discuss when I get back."
He approached the door keeping his face stiff without a smile. "Come to bait me, or do I sense an apology ready on your lips?"
William sighed closing the door with a heavy sigh, removing his glasses off his nose.
"I'm sorry." They hadn't fought so heavily in centuries, their words still stung.

"I'm sorry too," she told him and held out the takeaway cup. "It's truce coffee." She ran her thumb slowly across those beautiful lips of his and smiled.

He couldn't hate her, not completely. The argument had sent a spark within him. He took the coffee for a taste. "I thank you, dearest. Would you like to sit in for a moment. Class is still another fifteen minutes."

"You won't be distracted from your Dark Lady by your Dark Lady?" Pandora asked him with amusement.

He seemed to have adrenaline running through him that had been missing for some time. "Not at all. Today you are my fair lady, not my Sylvia." He pressed a soft hand against her back.
"Just sit in the back." He gave her a quick kiss and lead her inside.
Seated back on his desk he opened up the class for discussion. He slapped his hands together, "Discuss. What did you get from this sonnet?

Pandora slipped in to find a seat at the back of the room, giving the students nearby a polite smile as she did so. She sat with her coffee and watched William direct the class, drawing them into discussion and leading them down the paths he wanted them to go down. It was interesting for Pandora to watch. She'd never in her life been a student or a teacher and so the whole classroom experience was foreign to her.

He was actually leading them into discussion, it was a lot more than could be said about the previous months. They were engaged, interested in what he ja to say. It gave William a wonderful feeling!
"So who was the Dark Lady?" one of the students asked, waving his hand around expressively. "I mean he hates the shit out of her then praises her. Why subject yourself to that or was Shakespeare just being dramatic?"

They were all so young. Pandora looked slowly around the room and knew that even in their youth some must have understood it, that most passionate of affairs, when you wanted to throttle your lover almost as much as you wanted to tear their clothes off in public.
The boy asked his question and Pandora smirked at Will, raising an eyebrow as her expression asked, Well?

William removed his glasses, setting them aside on the desk. His first response was a half-cocked smirk followed by a chuckle. His hands sat in his lap as he scooted back on the desk.
"Passion is an intense feeling." He paused looking towards the back of the room. "It's magnetic! Have you ever wanted something so terribly much that you'd cross any lengths to get it?" he asked the boy. The kid answered with a dumbfounded 'yeah', which William brushed off with his hand.
"Love and hate is a thin line in the throws of passion. Shakespeare," he started to talk of himself in a way that seemed quite arrogant, "loved this woman from a distance. He didn't catch her right away, but the more she rejected him, foiled his advances, the stronger his passion grew!"
"She was married though," the boy said.
"And what more intriguing than a forbidden love." Forbidden was his favorite theme.

Pandora was smiling at him coyly, an expression that had won the heart and soul of more artists than just him. As much as she might like to claim otherwise, Pandora had always loved the forbidden as well. From the moment she'd drawn her first breath, Pandora had been wanting everything she shouldn't and little had changed. It entertained her now to hear him speak of himself as some distant figure.

William knew he was one of many for the now fair Pandora, but she would always and eternally be his Sylvia.
Shutting his book he scooted down off the desk, waltzing around the room like an actor on stage preparing himself for his opening number. The more he explained he and Pandora's relationship, the more his students sat with ears perked not even aware that their time was up. It was the first time in a long time that he'd kept their attention this long.
"Alright." He drifted off a time or two in long passed memories. Back in the present he handed one of the students a pile of papers to pass around.
"You will be tested on this. Finals this week! Make sure you read, read, read! All's well that ends well!"

As the students made their way out, Pandora stood and walked slowly up to the front with him. There she waited patiently while the last few lingering students spoke to him about whatever it was they wanted and then they were gone as well and it was just the two of them.
"Enthralling," Pandora told him. "This Dark Lady of Shakespeare's," she considered, tossing her empty coffee cup into the bin by his table before sitting on it. "She sounds like quite the woman. Poor man sounds obsessed."

"He was quite intrigued with her. She was his entire world at that point in his life." He settled against his desk again, hands folded in his lap.
The room was completely quiet now.

Pandora leaned over and kissed him slowly, her tongue slipping past his lips and her hand resting against his neck. What woman could possibly deny she liked being the centre of a man's universe?
