Who: Melpomene and William Shakespeare What: Getting to have time with his favorite Muse When: Wednesday night Where: Will's place. Note: Reposted as a favour
There were many ladies that made up the details of Will Shakespeare's life, including a wife he hardly had anything to do with once leaving her behind in Stradford for London. He was a romantic, often finding himself struck with the lovebug. This became very beneficial to his his plays and sonnets as women were often given a showcase. It was claimed he was able to thoroughly and realistically capture the essence of women and femininity.
Simply put women were fascinating to him. There was a magic in their emotions, their delicate bodies, their very making that made Will a natural headcase when he found one that intrigued him. Even now he'd pushed aside his now-time girlfriend to entertain his favorite Muse. Inspiration was on the horizon! He could feel it with every bone in his body! Oh, fair creativity, she had been so lost to him before.
Pouring a glass of wine he let the red color coat his tongue as he waited patiently for Mel to show.

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-07 09:51 am (local) (link) Track This Melpomene was similar in some ways, except that instead of receiving inspiration she handed it out. Though she did tend to be particular in just who was given such a gift. There had been more than just him in her life, both men and women, and she had no doubt he was aware of that. But he was still one of her favorites, and that meant she would dedicate as much time to him as he asked. She would have dropped just about anything to see him.
Her mood had been steadily sad since that day in April and then took a sharp upward turn the last few days. Between the arrival of William and Edgar she had something to be excited about. It seemed everyone else had someone to hold on to, Melpomene rarely did because so many people feared Tragedy.
She came dressed a little more brightly than usual. It reflected her joy. After checking to make sure it was the correct address she knocked. Of course, there was the feeling of a wonderfully familiar presence.

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-07 02:20 pm (local) (link) Track This William opened the door with a bright smile, taking hold of Mel's hand and kissing the top. He loved all the muses, but Melpomene had been at his deathbed, he cherished her above the others. Even as he drew his last breath her presence had filled him with the inspiration to write. A shame to leave the world still within his prime and have countless stories, poems and words to build. It was a shame now that his very talent was stunted by the very world that praised him.
Leading her into the apartment, with an Elizabethan flare, he handed her the glass of wine.
"I'm glad you came," he announced gleefully.

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-07 02:52 pm (local) (link) Track This The day Melpomene had sat crying next to his dying body was still imprinted in her mind. It was a day she would not soon forget and it was the very thing that made her feel, secretively, that she had a closer connection with him. She loved him, dearly, and she always would.
She smiled in return and stepped inside, slipping off her jacket before taking the glass.
She looked around, feeling a sense of familiarity and comfort as she already began to feel at home. "For you I would drop nearly anything." She took a sip of wine and then turned to look at him. "But I think you already knew that."

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-07 03:22 pm (local) (link) Track This William took the jacket from her hanging it on the nearby coat rack. He'd been a rather jealous boy in wanting nothing more than to embrace himself with her company the other night, but he wasn't going to deny her sisters.
Now it was just the two of them as it had been in the last years of his life. He leaned against the couch watching her as she looked around. "Seems familiar doesn't it?" He shrugged. "Some things are just hard to give up."

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-07 04:02 pm (local) (link) Track This This place gave off a more welcoming vibe than most places in New York seemed to offer. It was comforting. What made it more special was that it was William's. Her interests weren't entirely in the setting, though. She had come for him and she would do whatever he needed. She may not be a servant to anyone, but he was precious to her and she'd allow him favors.
After taking in what she could see without wandering off to other rooms she took her place next to him. Pulling her legs onto the couch, one arm rested on the back of the couch as she took him in. "If you had given into modern life completely I would have to remind you of the wonders of the past."

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-07 10:03 pm (local) (link) Track This New York was quite the contrast, but London in it's day had been fast-paced and booming. At least one did not have to strive to avoid the plague and other deadly diseases carried by rats and some of his own siblings. He'd had a high fear over those sorts of things, so while New York may not be the cleanliest in some places there were things like antibacterial spray that would have been quite handy back his day. There were still some memories that were not even tragic in the romantic sense, just downright disturbing.
"It has it's assets, but there was a beauty of the past, I quite agree."

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-08 02:37 pm (local) (link) Track This Melpomene hadn't been around since the beginning of Greek history, but she had been here long enough to see such amazing industrial changes. She had grown accustomed to changes simply because she expected it. The "big city" changed in time and now she was used to the huge population that was New York City. It made it easy to adapt when she traveled. She actually liked the change.
Her eyes never left him. It was like there was something mental telling her that if she looked away he might disappear. She wanted to ensure that he would always be there. "I'm a little disappointed, William. I had hoped you'd have a sonnet written just for me by the time I arrived," she grinned.

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-09 01:17 am (local) (link) Track This William grinned into his glass setting it aside long enough to move and stare right back into the gaze she so heavily gave him. "What? You thought it would be that easy? I don't spout sonnets for just anyone!" he teased moving with a twirl as if he were on the stage announcing to an audience.
"Where's my motivation Mel, give me something to work with!" he laughed taking hold of her hand and dragging her to her feet.
"The last time I could stand," a few years before he'd become ill, with what--well it had even left his memory as over the years people had created their own stories. It wasn't romantic or peaceful, he'd just lost his drive to do much of anything, until he passed out his will. "You and I never finished our dance." The last time he'd skirted Mel around a room he'd been fifty, and passed out with fever. He'd never forgotten that.

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-13 09:44 am (local) (link) Track This Melpomene pouted at that, "Spout? Why, William, you seem to forget where your inspiration comes from in the first place. With most of your beloved Muses here surely you would have already come up with a masterpiece for each of us?"
Her pout faded into a smile as she allowed him to drag her to her feet.
That he was no longer just a mortal and in the years of his prime once more put Melpomene at ease. She would love and care for him no matter the age or appearance. He would always be her dear William. "Then we must finish it before you may move on," she whispered.

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-13 11:19 am (local) (link) Track This "I have forgotten, how shameful of me," he said with a grin as she playfully taunted him. "I shall write one for you first, my dearest Mel."
He was far more spry than he'd been then, and could easily twirl and move her across the floor as if they were once again back in Elizabethan England. Oh how he'd truly missed her! His hands gracefully slid to her waist pulling her in closely. "Yes, we must," he whispered back with a kiss, still moving his feet slowly in this old dance mixed with a new age waltz.

[info]tragicmask 2011-07-13 05:27 pm (local) (link) Track This "For your favorite," she said with a tiny grin and although she liked the title she couldn't help feeling badly for her sisters.
Melpomene didn't dance often, not the way she once did. It was nice to move her body and feel graceful and beautiful again. She welcomed that kiss with such passion. Before her mind had been on getting him to the others. Now she had him to herself, and she fully intended to take advantage.

[info]theworlds_stage 2011-07-14 03:19 pm (local) (link) Track This Perhaps he did play her against her sisters, but only a little bit. They each held a piece of him, but Mel was closest to his heart.
It had been so long, this made his heart flutter! "Darling, darling Mel," he whispered against her lips, kisses soft and endearing as he pressed her against him, hands sliding down her waist.
