Who: Dionysus and Ariadne
What: Taking care of the mad hubby
When: Monday afternoon
Where: Aphrodite's place
Knowing Dionysus had been safe was a relief. She hadn't even minded Aphrodite's demand. She'd just gathered some things and went to the goddess apartment. Seeing Dionysus so distraught had been hard, but he'd looked at her. She'd spend her days reminding him of who he was and sitting beside him, running her fingers through his hair.He seemed to take comfort in her presence. As the days went on, he recognized her and she could sleep beside him.
He still had moments where he slipped, and times where he took her with him, but they were getting less. She'd not done more then hold him though. She was in Aphrodite's home and the goddess made her feel uncomfortable. She knew she wasn't Aphrodite, and Aphrodite was more important to Dionysus. And her husband needed time anyway. When she had awoken she had left her room, finding the place empty. Feeling oddly like an invader she walked to the kitchen. She needed to convince Dionysus to eat something. He'd lost weight and he needed nutrition.
More then the wine he'd been drinking anyway. It took a bit, but eventually she found a pot and boiled some water for some eggs. She'd need to talk to Aphrodite about more food. The silence made her nervous. She'd seen the discussion between Aphrodite and Ares. She kept expecting to find the war god around every corner.

The storm may have passed but Dionysus found himself in and out of his own mind, his words a jumbled mess that at times only made sense to himself. He flitted back and forth from his ancient tongue to his english one, in a maddened haze that he often brought on those around him.
He was still not as stable as he should be, but times were getting better with the two most important women in his life using their influence over him.
Dionysus lay in bed staring up at the ceiling as he heard someone shuffling about. The light of the afternoon, the smallest of noises they affected him more keenly. His senses were off balance making him more susceptible even the faintest of noises. His eyes adjusted looking up to the ceiling. He stared for what felt like an eternity, focusing on any pattern of design his minds eye made.
Only when he heard a pot hit the stove downstairs did it jar him from his lucid thoughts. He sat up slowly shuffling out of bed and down toward the sound.

She often worried. She hadn't seen Dionysus this bad before. Aphrodite could get him out of his states better then she could. A part of her was hurt because of it, but she was barely a goddess. She couldn't do much but just be there and hold his hand.
She hoped it helped.
She'd found some bacon and bread, and had to wonder. Dion needed filling foods, and soup when he couldn't stand anything else. Several sons had taught her how to look after people.
When she heard a noise she looked to him and smiled. "You're up." She extended her hand, "come, sit down. I'm making you some breakfast."

Aphrodite had seen him in these states before, she had been there to drag him out of asylums at least twice before this time. He had long been without Ariadne until this year, there was a lot she had not seen.
He padded down the stairs toward her, the smell of food hitting his nose roughly. He hadn't eaten much in the days to pass, he'd hardly had the nutrition whilst in the asylum as they'd thought him a danger to himself. His eyes were still dark, redness under the lids as sleep often consumed him with the same nightmares he'd plagued both Ariadne and Kyle with in the days that passed.
He took hold of her arm, sliding across the floor in bare feet and pajama bottoms that extended over his ankles.

He didn't seem to recognize her. She let out a breath, knowing it happened more often and steadied him with her hand. It was hard to do this, but she wanted to try. She wouldn't run.
Gently she led him to a seat and set him down, setting her hand on his cheek. He needed more sleep, for both their sakes. He'd keep her awake otherwise.
Smiling she released his arm, "Breakfast is almost ready." It was awkward talking to herself. She always hated quiet. Especially with what she'd endured herself. When the eggs finished boiling she put them under cold water before removing the shell. It gave her something to do anyway.

His lips parted slightly as if to speak but with no direction of what to say. Often times he spoke and his words skipped around, other times he made perfect sense. This was a morning he was flipping around back and forth in his mind, too much surfacing at once to know what to speak of first.
She went to tend to breakfast and his hand clasped on to hers, pulling at her wrist. Those blue eyes searching hers for understanding.
"Too long," too long alone inside his mind even if for a few weeks. He'd spent eternities in his head before---Hera had done it before, and that left sticking power on the intense god.

This entire thing wasn't fair. She didn't know how to deal with it, didn't know how to deal with being reminded how much of a copy she was of Aphrodite's. She was beginning to wonder if he'd just married her for that sake. He couldn't have the real thing, so he'd settled for the copy.
His hand took her wrist and she paused, not looking at him. She was tired and drained, and not even allowed to deal with her own issues. With a sigh she took her hand out of his grip setting the plate before him. She wanted to leave, but she couldn't even do that until Aphrodite returned. "Just eat your breakfast."

"Stay," he said in a childlike voice continuing to hold onto her as if she were his very life force.
"Ari," her name was like a whisper on his lips, so soft she'd barely be able to hear it. He knew she was there, even if he couldn't remember himself at times. His mind was set back in ancient times most nights, lost and inside himself.

She removed her hand with a fierce tug. She couldn't do this. She couldn't. Couldn't stay here and be reminded of what she wasn't. Of the copy she was.
She felt frayed enough but no one was paying any attention to her. She had to do all these things, and all she wanted was comfort herself. "No. Just. Eat." She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. "I'm going out."

She was walking out just like the rest of those he cared for. Abandoned. Left alone. He couldn't do that again.
"Ariadne," he said again standing up and enclosing his arms around her. She had to stay. She must stay.

"No." She pushed herself out of his arms. "I can't do this. I can't keep being reminded of who I'm not. I can't keep being reminded I'm only second. Everything is wrong and I need to find myself." She took a long breath, "not me you want anyway."
She stepped aside, "I need to go out."

His own madness dragged her down with him, Kyle just the same. With her rejecting him and turning away it only made Dionysus' despair greater. It sat inside him like a giant hole in his chest, confused as she was at what she was saying.
"My star," he said in a voice that was as heartbroken as her own. How could he not want her? She was his level ground. He wasn't clear enough to understand what she was going through, her pain was as intense as his own, but right now neither of them were strong enough to be who they were.

She sighed and set her hand on his chest. His voice made her feel bad and guilty. "I know. I know." She leaned into him and closed her eyes, "I'm not going anywhere Dionysus. I just need some air. I'll take a walk when Aphrodite's here. But I'll come back. I will." She looked up to him, "I'm still only half a girl Dion. And not being able to help you is killing me."
She reached up and kissed his cheek, "I love you." She looked up to him then, "but please. Eat? You're too skinny."
