Who: Nyx & Erebos
What: Night and Darkness, reunited at last
When: Very late Saturday night/early Sunday morning
Where: SoHo, Club Nyx, then NYC streets
Even though he had been in the city for quite some time, Erebos had heard no news of his wife or children until quite recently. He'd had other things on his mind, like building up his business, and all of them were more than capable of looking after themselves. If they'd needed him, they would have said so.
But now, even his business was quiet, and he handed things off to his second-in-command for the evening and set out into the city. He took trains wherever he wanted, switched lines at random, even walked for blocks at a time, simply because he felt that was the way he wanted to go. And due to this city-hopping, he wound up in SoHo around 4 a.m., the dark of night still draped over the city. Dawn was at least an hour off, and this was the time he liked most. After all, it was said night was darkest just before dawn.
He wasn't really paying attention to the people around him, drunk and stumbling home from various bars and clubs, but when one of them bumped into him, he looked up at last. He was standing in front of a nightclub bearing the name 'Club Nyx'. His face broke into a small smile. He could feel the pang of another immortal inside, and he was certain it was his wife. He wrapped his dark mists around him a little more, concealing him from mortals' eyes, then slipped inside, looking around.

Ever since the pantheon had started to implode on itself Nyx had been in a strangely good mood. Though she didn't smile often there was still this glow about her. It was as though she sent off a vibe of good energy, something new and foreign to her. There were few things in life that gave her any reason to express joy, so it was strange for her. But she accepted it nonetheless.
Night was when she was most alive and ever since Geras had turned that sea monster into an old sea monster she seemed almost chipper. Something her "usuals" at the club weren't used to. Something she wouldn't dare let her children see. The last thing she needed was them thinking she could change into a sweet, cuddly mothering type. At least Atropos would now understand the value Nyx saw in Fate.
She had just sent out an overly drunk patron when she felt the presence of another, though showing no sign of her awareness she headed back to the bar where she stood with her arms crossed. Eyes scanned the crowd but she still did not yet see whoever it was. And then something that shouldn't have been there, something that was very out of place, seemed to appear only to her eye. Someone bumped into it and turned to either apologize or start a brawl (did it really matter?) but they appeared to see nothing. However, Nyx saw exactly what the man had bumped into. There was absolutely no doubt in her mind who this was and it was very unlike her to go running into his arms, so she did not. Instead, she looked directly at the spot where mortals would see nothing, gave a small smile and then turned. The starry sheen that was still her veil flowed behind her, something only immortals could see, and she headed up a flight of stairs.

He didn't even notice the person who had bumped into him, and they certainly didn't notice him, what with his mists drawn around him. The only important person in the room was her. Nyx. He gave a small smile in return, and followed the starry veil through the room, watching as it vanished up the stairs. He followed at a sedate pace, knowing that he would get there when he got there, so what was the point in hurrying?
At the top of the stairs, he finally spoke. "You seem to have done very well for yourself," he said quietly, his deep voice rumbling in his chest. "I like the club name."

The night was nearly over and what a pleasant surprise for the end of a long and tiresome night. She had stopped momentarily at the top of the stairs to unlock the door, which lead into a dark room full of computer screens and televisions. It was Nyx's place to watch every inch of the club, right down to the bathroom stalls. Nyx had absolutely no regard for personal space or privacy.
She stepped into the room, "Lock the door behind you." She stood in front of the screens at large, "Nothing else fit." Maybe it was vain of her to name her club after herself, but in reality it had been a way to bring in immortals. Those who weren't welcome were promptly shown the door. "You have been hiding a long time."

He followed her inside, locking the door as she'd asked. He wasn't at all surprised at the all-encompassing surveillance, if it was him, he'd have done the same thing.
"No, I suppose not," he replied. "And perhaps I have been. Starting up my own business. And all of you can take care of yourselves, if you had had real need of me, nothing could have hid me from you. You were always tenacious like that."

Nyx didn't take risks. If she knew she could not do something herself she wasn't too stubborn to go ahead, she enlisted help. More like she demanded it. The same could be said with this club; she had several bouncers and if any of them failed her she didn't think twice before throwing them out into the streets. Nyx had a once-strike policy.
"Now is the time for you to come out. Zeus is falling." Right to the pint, Nyx didn't like small talk. Not even with Erebos. She was straight to the point and just about anytime she did seem interested in mindless conversation there was something in it for her.

He snorted quietly. "Why am I not surprised. I thought I felt something shift. Though it poses the question 'why now?'" He shrugged. "I imagine you have some sort of plan for the mayhem this has brought about?" It was more of a rhetorical question than anything else, he was almost certain that she did.

"Styx is displeased with how he's been doing things, so she is forming a mutiny against him. I am, of course, not siding with either of them. Neither deserve my help." She glanced over to him with a small grin, "Poseidon spent over a month in Hades and returned only last week. He offended Atropos before his death and twice more shortly after his return. I sent Geras after him," that was enough explanation. "That is only one small stone in a sea of thousands. If Styx is successful balance will certainly shift and Khaos can do as she pleases again. I am for Khaos, if this is her wish."

"I wonder why on earth she'd be displeased," he drawled. "And I cannot fault you in that decision, let them squabble and tear each other to shreds for all I care."
"No less than he deserved, on either count," he replied. "Insulting Fate is supremely stupid, but apparently he cannot get that through his head. I hope he enjoys his geriatric self while it lasts."
He considered this for a moment. He himself had been born of Khaos, she was the only sort of parent he'd ever had, in the loosest sense of the word, anyway. "Khaos will do as she pleases, as usual. And I would not object to her roaming free and spreading her influence again."

Nyx merely looked at him, "That is precisely what I plan to do."
"He is exceedingly arrogant and self-fulfilling. I have already killed a once-mortal for taking Clotho, the sea monster had best not tread on Atropos' toes again lest he wishes for another vacation in the Underworld." She cared not that Leucippus had not seemed to return yet. It was of little importance to her, but the moment he showed she would have eyes on him at all times.
"She was magnificent months ago. Only a small dose of what she can really do, but you should have seen what she did to the Olympian Hephaestus. Rumor has it he was beaten for speaking out against Zeus and Hera." Nyx wasn't entirely fond of all this chatter, but seeing as she thought important he was up to date on the goings-on of the pantheon, from her perspective at least, she didn't mind so much.

"Tell me something I don't know," he muttered. "Those who disrespect Fate get what is coming to them. The once-mortal deserved his punishment, and I would bet on Atropos against Poseidon any day."
"Then I'm sorry I missed it," he said. "That's what she does best, after all. And if anyone has been building up resentment against those two for centuries, it's the smith. The fallout must have been something to see." This was more talking than Erebos had done in days, he was used to issuing clipped commands, or having those under him simply knowing what needed to be done. But this was alright with him.

Nyx dismissed his first comment, only because if she knew anything about Erebos it was that she could never take anything he said as a direct insult. Almost any other god would have told him off, if they had the balls.
"If this keeps up she may very well return. I have not felt her since." She waved her hand dismissively, "It was nothing more than amusing. He told off half his family for minor incidences." She looked at him fully now, "We must get to work."

He'd meant it more rhetorically than anything else, but he'd said what he said. Apologizing or trying to take it back was both useless and not in his nature. So he did neither.
"If she comes back, she'll do it in her own time," he replied. Then he raised an eyebrow. "Did he now? That does sound amusing."
"And what did you have in mind?" he asked.

Nyx only expected apologizes from her children. Erebos had no reason for such a thing, he had power that deserved her own respect. There were only two beings in the entire universe whom she had no desire to anger. Erebos was one, Khaos the other. That didn't mean she wouldn't get into arguments with him. In fact, he was the only one she could really have an argument with without it turning emotional.
"Of course she will return. There can be no order and balance without the power of chaos." Yeah, that was pretty much Nyx's way of thinking. Chaos was something she strived for. She would not be Night without such thought processes. "The entry may still be there if you wanted a little amusement. I admit even I laughed."
She turned and leaned against the desk, crossing her arms in thought. "Many of the Di Nocti are here. We should utilize their powers. With their help we could easily bring down the unneeded gods."
