Who: Hypnos & Thanatos
What: 'D'awww, you're adorable' (He's Death's twin, he's allowed to say that. XD)
When: Wednesday evening-ish
Where: Hypnos' place
Hypnos was really hoping things worked out for Thanatos and Lyra. They both deserved it after Eros' meddling, and Thanatos especially because it was so rare for him to have friends, and he'd never expressed any sort of romantic interest in a mortal as far as Hypnos could remember. So he was rooting for them.
After he'd gotten off work, he'd said goodbye to Hecate and Miranda, grabbed some takeout for the both of them, and headed back home. He'd missed hanging out with his brother, and it would be food for the pair of them to just chill and catch up.

After his outing with Lyra, that had gone far better then he could have ever imagined it going, he decided to go to his brothers. Not only for the company, but also for the valuable advice he knew his twin could share with him.
So without knocking he appeared in Hypnos' living room. He'd have known if Hypnos was occupied, and they had always done this. He couldn't stop smiling though. "She said yes."

Hypnos was far too used to Thanatos just appearing, so he barely even twitched when his brother wasn't there one minute, and then suddenly standing in his living room.
At his brother's word, though, he felt a grin split his face. "That's great!" he said, and he meant it. Thanatos deserved to have someone in his life that would make him happy. "I got us some dinner, sit wherever."
"So, are you gonna introduce her to the family, and most importantly, not to Mom?" he asked, handing over food and offering a beer.

With a happy nod he sat down and took the bear. "It is. Really. We were speaking of family and asked if I wanted to introduce her as my girlfriend." he ducked his head with a smile before tipping his head. "she wants to meet them though, but in time. I will let her adjust and have her meet the kinder members first. As for Mother, she will have to accept my choice." Nyx could be intimidating, but Thanatos had never learned to fear her. "But in time." He paused. "I'm not sure how to proceed. I have never dated anyone before."

"I'm really happy for you, man, you deserve this," Hypnos said, settling into the chair next to him.
"What, you mean you don't want to introduce her to Moros, Dolos, Hybris, and the Keres?" he asked teasingly. "But they're all so fun! In a sort of murderous way." He snorted.
"So you ask your almost-as-awkward twin brother who's been married forever for advice?" he asked with a little laugh. "I'll do what I can, I just hope I don't end up sounding like a greeting card. Or a self-help book."

He gave a small smile, "as you say." He gave his twin a long look before shaking his head. "I do not judge my siblings for doing what is their nature but I will not allow them to hurt her out of sport. She is mine to protect now."
He shrugged, "you have been married. You have to know more then I do. I invited her out on a date next Friday. I do not know what I am supposed to do."

Hypnos poked him. "Everyone deserves a bit of happiness in their life. And now you've found some. It's a good thing."
"I know, you never would. And hopefully they wouldn't be stupid enough to try something, but you never know."
Hypnos just raised one eyebrow, hoping to convey 'Yes, but my marriage wasn't exactly conventional, Hera traded me my wife for a favor' with one look.
"You've already got a good head start," he replied, shrugging. "You're polite, you're a good guy, and you obviously like her. Talk about things you have in common, things you both like to do and whatnot. Ask about her family, her hobbies, that kind of thing." He spread his hands in a sort of helpless gesture.

He shrugged, "happiness is not a state in which I often find myself. But I am glad I have found it, if even for a little while."
He sighed, "I will make myself clear to them, have no doubts. If anything I know they respect me and my position. It won't be hard to get them to relinquish this favor."
"I already know what her interests are, and I have few hobbies. One could suggest my current occupation is a hobby. I have my ultimate duty." He shrugged, "but it is easy speaking to her."

"Which is probably where the gloomy Death stereotype comes from," Hypnos said, munching on his fried rice. "But I'm glad too."
"Oh, I don't," he said. "I'm sure you'll make yourself perfectly plain."
Hypnos threw up his hands. "Well I'm running dangerously low on helpful hints, unless you want us to read Cosmo together. And I love you and stuff, but please don't make me do that. Pretty please?"
"Death as a hobby," he mused. "Never really thought about that before. But at least the conversation won't be all stilted."

He shrugged, "I am not that gloomy. Merely serious." He didn't think himself the type to wallow. He just remained on the sidelines. It was what he had always done.
"I know you are besides me, that is enough. What the rest of them think doesn't really concern me." he smiled and set his hand on his brother's shoulder. "I appreciate the effort. You know that."
He shook his head, "hardly."

"As you say," Hypnos replied. "But then again, you do have a pretty serious job, so that makes sense."
"You're never getting rid of me," he beamed. "I will be the perky twin 500 years in the future. It's in my contract somewhere." He laid his hand on Thanatos'. "I know. I'm just gonna stop now, though, before I give you insanely stupid advice you don't really need." He laughed a little at himself.
"Good, then you should be just fine," he said with a nod.

He nodded, "I am required to remain somewhat serious. I have a more relaxed schedule now so I can be more free but my point remains. You have enough cheer for both of us."
Grinning he took his twin's hand, "good because I'd be hopeless without you. We are the same coin. And yes, but you made your marriage work. It was unconventional, but I have hardly heard of a Greek with a conventional marriage. It's kidnap or trade with us."
I will figure it out I imagine. Lyra does not seem to be the type to not tell me if I make a mistake."

Hypnos nodded. "Anymore, and I think I'd explode. And no one wants Hypnos-bits all over the place, because they're impossible to clean up."
Hypnos grinned too. "We are. I need you around to remind me to tone it the hell down occasionally. Otherwise I'd be bouncing off walls."
"I think 'Greek conventional marriage' is right up there with flying pigs and Hades freezing over," he said with a snort. "But yeah, I guess we did. She helps to mellow me out. It's a good thing, I suppose."
"And my point remains as well: You'll be fine. You crazy kids." He grinned.

He chuckled, "I'd rather not be stuck doing that. It is a hassle." Smiling he ruffled his twin's hair, just because he could. He loved all of his siblings, but Hypnos had a special place. Twins were allowed that, he figured. "I've seen you do it."
"Funny, as in Dante Hell was a frozen lake. But I get the point." He smiled, "you get along. She makes you happy. I am happy for you. Never think I am not."
He rolled his eyes, "this is the first time I admitted having feelings for anyone. Give me a break."

He nodded, mock-seriously. "It really is. Like confetti. Vacuum as much as you want, you're still finding pieces a week later." He bore the hair ruffling with good grace, only one joking eye roll. "And that's why I'm not allowed Red Bull ever again. We can learn from past mistakes."
"Christians are weird, man, I don't even know," he said. "But yeah, she does," he said, a little smile curling over his face. "It's nice to have her around again, after not having her for so long. And I know you are. Thank you."
He pinched one of his twin's cheeks, because retaliation for hair ruffling was always called for. "Oh hush you. I'm happy for you. At least I'm not spazzing out and waving my hands all, 'OH YAY!'"

He laughed, ducking away from his brother. "Yes. We can. I ought to tell Patisthea, just in case you think about trying again. I wouldn't want her to have to deal with all that."
He shrugged, "I like their Death. We agree on many things." He smiled, "I can tell. It's good seeing you this peaceful. You deserve that." He scoffed, "not yet at least. I imagine Hecate will, and you might join her."

Hypnos stuck out his tongue. "I've learned my lesson. Not that being a Hypnos-shaped superball isn't fun, but I was pretty much tapped out afterwards. But yeah, reminding her can't hurt."
He tilted his head. "Is their Death nice? I've never met her...him...them. Whichever."
He ducked his head. "She's good for making me slow down and mellow a little. Especially when it's time for me to shut down for a little while."
He grinned a slightly evil grin. "We'll follow you around cheering, waving our hands going 'heeeeee!' It'll be great."

"You were at it for days, then slept longer then you usually did. I was very worried about you," he gave his twin a teasing smile because if Hypnos could tease, so could he. "I'll tell her."
He shrugged, "A bit like me and the Keres mixed together. It is a she right now. Pleasant being." He shook his head, "does she read you stories too?" He inched away from his twin, expecting retaliation for that. "And you best not. I will have enough problems trying not to mess this up on my own. I do not need a fanclub."

"To be fair, I only sleep like twice a year, and I was due," he said. "I just slept a little longer than usual that time." He snorted. "She'll probably just smile and not let me do the grocery shopping anymore," he finished with a laugh.
"She sounds like she'd be interesting to talk to," he replied. "Then again, Death gods usually are."
He giggled, sliding after him and poking him in the side. "No, you dork. But she's there when I wake up, and that's the important part."
"Oh fine," he said with a huge fake sigh. "We'll lay off. Though you know if you tell her in the first place, she'll get all smiley and cheery anyway, despite what you may have to say in the matter."

He gave his brother a long look, "long enough to have me worry. I thought something was wrong with you, or if you were weak. Didn't help I didn't know if I could wake you." Shrugging he smiled, "a wise idea none the less. Your shopping habits are odd."
"I know it is." He smiled before sighing, "I know. I will call her. Best to deal with her cheer from a distance." He frowned, "I do worry though. The repercussions of her actions aren't going to be nice."

"Sometimes I have a hard time remembering my own limitations," he admitted. "But hopefully as long as people need to sleep, I don't see myself going anywhere. I am sorry if I made you worry, though. I never mean to do that."
"Says you," he said with a laugh. "Just because I once came home with nothing but Cheetos, mozzarella sticks and Pepsi, no one ever lets me live it down."
"You know she's gonna want to talk to me as soon as I go into work," he groaned. "Sure, you get to deal with her from a distance, but I help run the shop during the day."
He sobered a little at that. "I know. Once Zeus isn't a statue anymore, he's going to be all kinds of pissed off."

"I know brother." He smiled at him before shaking his head. "Once he says. And you are the worst bachelor. That's why you need someone to look after you. Thea does a good job."
He chuckled, "I didn't take her offer for work and I'm sure she'll calm down eventually." He nodded again, "true. I warned her. Can't tell a Titan no though."

"Chalk that one up to life experience, and also to something I never want to repeat," he added. "You ever have a dream that you wanted to get out of and can't? It was kind of like that."
"Shut uppppp," he said, chucking a fortune cookie at his twin. "I've gotten better since then. Mostly with Thea's help. We now buy vegetables and things."
"You should come by the shop sometime, I'm sure she'd love to see you," he replied. "Though 'calm down' and 'Hecate' don't seem like they should really go together, given how she usually is." He nodded. "Don't I know it. They're gonna do what they're gonna do."

He caught the fortune cookie and laughed. This was nice. He really ought to check in more with his twin. Despite everything, Hypnos was still needed for a balance. "And no. Not really. I usually tell Morpheus to go bother someone else."
"Imagine the horror of eating healthy." He nodded, "I shall and I know. I like her energy though. Not many Underworld Deities have that." He sighed, "with bad consequences."

Hypnos cracked open his fortune cookie. "I would have, if I could've," he said, not really looking at anything. "I sleep until I wake up, and really the only place to go was dream after dream after dream." He shrugged. "But now I know better."
"I'll have you know I'm a big fan of vegetables," he said. "I made myself stir-fry last night, it was tasty."
"Sometimes I feel like the two of us should T-shirts that say 'Cheerful Underworld Deities'. If nothing else, people migh think we were in a cool band." He grinned.
"If she did it, it must've been important to her. And she's more than capable of dealing with the consequences. Not that that stops me from worrying for her a little."

He set the fortune aside. He never read them. Something about Death reading fortunes sat off with him. "Well try not to make me worry so in the future?" He knew Hypnos wouldn't though.
"I am constantly surprised that you don't set your kitchen on fire," he smirked teasingly. "Not that I am much better. Most of my meals are delivery."
He laughed, "you should. Give one to Hades. Just to confuse him." He nodded, "something about her mother." He shrugged, "ours may never win awards, but some are close I imagine. And I am sure she will manage."
