Who: Monique & Veronica
What: Sister unwinding times
When: Monday afternoon
Where: V's place
It had been a whirlwind for Monique the past few days. Starting her new job working for Anthony was wonderful, it made her feel useful and got her out of the house, but it was like going from zero to 60 in a day. Anthony kept weird hours, and while he'd promised that normally she'd keep regular office hours, Saturday night had seen her stumbling in at well past midnight. Sometimes he used her as a sounding board, and this time, the time had just gotten away from them.
But he didn't need her this afternoon, since there were no clients scheduled, and he was off doing his Saint-y thing, as she affectionately called it. So she was curled up in her pajamas on the couch, a bowl of soup balanced on one knee, cartoons on the television. It made her feel about sixteen, but she really didn't care. Days off were awesome.

Veronica was trying hard not to feel jealous of her sister. Nikkie enjoyed this job, despite seeing more of Anthony then Veronica did. Dating someone with a bit of a workaholic problem wasn't easy either.
Her own weekends started early enough, because when you had a hyper eight year old they had yet to learn the joys of sleeping in. So she stumbled out with a yawn behind her son, who climbed up besides his Aunt. She smiled to Nikkie and ran her fingers through her hair. "Morning."

Nikkie did like her job, but if it ever became a problem for V, she'd quit and find something else. She kept telling Anthony he needed to take a break every now and again, but when the choices were listening to a 25-year-old girl and the Lord Himself...well, it was kind of a no-brainer, she figured. Especially given who Anthony was.
She smiled at Bernie and her sister, placing the soup on the table so it didn't spill, and giving her nephew a hug. "Morning," she said, shifting so they could all fit on the couch. "Didn't wake you guys, did I?"

She suggested breaks to Anthony as well, but she'd ask the other Saints if that was alright to do. She wasn't all that sure how that all worked.
Her and her complications.
She shook her head to the question and sat down, "no, munchkin just woke me. He has yet to learn how to sleep in. I'm surprised to see you awake."

One of these days she was just going to smack him upside the head, Saintly boss or no. Yeah, maybe he couldn't die, but taking a breather every once in a while wouldn't mean the end of the world. It was a good thing he was so likable.
She laughed. "Once he hits high school and college, oh will he learn. It'll become a life skill." Then she shrugged. "I wanted to make the most of my day off, I guess. I wasn't needed today, so it's my time. And apparently that calls for soup and Spongebob." She snickered.

She grinned to her son, who had curled up beside his aunt to watch the cartoon. "I imagine he will and don't remind me. He's growing up way too fast as it is." She nodded, "but those are good life choices. So it's just us today, which is good because I wanted to know if you wanted to head back to London for Christmas. I know Bernie won't mind spending time with his grandparents." she smirked to the boy's empathic nod, "but it'll be cheaper if we all pitch in for the tickets."

She ruffled Bernie's hair. "Isn't he just. I remember when he came up to my knee. Time really flies."
"I thought so," she said with a grin. "And there really isn't anything better on the TV at this time of day." She perked up at the mention of going home for Christmas. "I'd love that! It'll be great to see Mum & Dad again. I think there's some of my paycheck left over, tell me how much we need for tickets and I'll help."

She laughed as Bernie made a face and waved the fussing away. "he's going to be taller then us soon. At least we'll get things off the high cabinets then."
She nodded, "alright I'll let you know after I confirm with them. Should be nice to be able to go home for a little."

She laughed and gave his hair one last tussle. "Hush you, it's in the Aunt contract that I'm allowed to fuss over you once in a while. But yes, that'll be nice. I won't have to go hunting for a chair to stand on anymore."
She gave a little cheer and waved her hands in the air. "It'll be awesome! And remind me to buy tea while we're there. Real, proper tea, not this stuff in bags they try to serve me when I eat someplace. I know, it makes me sound like a cliche, I don't really care. I like my tea."

She smiled, Bernie giving up his fussing and just accepting his lot. Veronica doubted he truly minded that much. Her son always liked attention and with Poseidon giving him less then the time of day she had to make up for that.
Laughing she shook her head, "you're so terribly British." Not that she was any better. She paid a lot of money to get imported tea, but getting it at the source was probably better.

If she ever met Bernie's father, she was going to give him a piece of her mind. Not that it'd do much good, but it would certainly make her feel better. Alright, maybe nothing too dramatic, since she'd promised V she wouldn't go looking for trouble, but he had to be an arse of the highest order to not appreciate what he was missing out on.
She stuck her tongue out at her sister. "At least I don't wander around spouting off about Queen and country," she laughed. "But yes, yes I am. And sometimes I've been two steps away from telling the girl at the sandwich shop that what she's handed me is a tea impostor. Hmph," she finished, but she was laughing.

"I don't think any of us is that British." She rose when Bernie did to come ask her for some breakfast. "Hungry still Nikkie?" She hardly minded making more for her sister, and wasn't too sure about Nikkie only having soup.

"I could start singing 'God Save The Queen' in Times Square for kicks and giggles, but I think people might look at me funny," she said with a nod. "I'll stick to my tea and glowering at people who think we all have horrible teeth."
She looked over at her bowl, only half finished and now gone cold. "I could eat, yeah, if you're sure you don't mind," she said. "Do you need help with anything?"

She gave a chuckle as she walked to the kitchen. "Please don't, and yeah. It does get annoying. Hurray stereotypes." She pulled out some things to make pancakes. She did spoil her son at times.
"I never mind, you know that." She smiled and shook her head, "not really, but thanks."
