Who: Sekhmet and Shesmu What: Holy crap, baby. When: Friday, August 12 near sunrise Where: Sekhmet and Hathor's L.A Home Warnings: Mentions of childbirth, mentions of language, fluff
Sekhmet has known this day would come. The doctor had given her a date, but it seemed the young life inside of her kept to schedules as well as her mother did.
So it is two days early when she feels the stab of pain, and with a hiss and a curse she has Isis come to her. Along with her mirror self she lets them lead her to the bedroom. It is hours of cursing, mostly directed at Shesmu who she knows is outside, for getting her in this way but once her daughter is born all is forgotten. All she knows is the cries of the newborn. The fact that the sun is near to rising is also forgotten as she hold the tiny life in her arms and can feel nothing but pure love.
She closes her eyes and holds the girl close, forgetting everything else. Her sweet girl, her little warrior is alive and healthy. Nothing else truly matters.
With a smile, Isis leads Hathor out of the room, cleaning herself up before finding the errant father and motioning him inside the room with a smile. There, uncaring of the pain it had brought her, Sekhmet had placed herself in the seat near the window. Her Lord-Father wasn't physically present, but he would bless her daughter with his rays on her first day in this realm. Smiling she leans her head on the window, for the moment utterly content.

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-14 03:15 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This By nature, Shesmu was a warriors and a protector of the innocent. Those things meant that he was not a creature to stand by and hear the cries of those he could protect.
But with Sekhmet screaming in the other room Shesmu knew he couldn't do anything at all and that the screaming was partly his fault as well. He didn't know how women managed all this childbirth and he didn't want to think about the details either. He was just glad he'd never have to do anything like it.
But finally the two aiding goddesses came out of the room and Shesmu, standing at the window and glaring at the city below, turned to them with his eyebrows raised in question.
"Congratulations," Hathor beamed at him, looking (if it was possible) happier than he'd ever seen her before. "You have a healthy baby girl."
Shesmu looked between the two of them, feeling a little overwhelmed and a little dis believing. Then he asked, "Am I allowed to-?" he cast his eye to the door and Hathor took his hands and nodded before laying a kiss upon his cheek.
Shesmu left Isis and Hathor and went instead to the women he loved and his child. And there it was, a tiny strange looking thing in Sekhmet's arms. It didn't really look exactly like the babies in the movies, it was sort of mottled-looking and with a little bit of a pointy head. Was that right? Or did that mean it was dying. Sekhmet looked calm though so maybe it was alright.
"It's a baby," Shesmu said as he approached her, stopping a few feet away and staring at the child in surprise.

[info]powerfulfemale 2011-08-14 09:44 pm UTC (link) Track This The comment made her half chuckle before realizing it kind of hurt and she knew he wouldn't understand. She knew all this was so foreign to him. So she just smiled and nodded, "yes. Ours." She extended one hand, "come see, she won't bite. She is resting."
She waited to see if he would come closer before looking to the perfect little creature in her arms, before glancing to the rising sun and then closing her eyes. "I am not doing this again any time soon. Two is enough." No matter how deeply she loved this girl, the entire ordeal had been hard on her. She knew she would heal in record time, and be fit to hunt again all too soon, but she hadn't done well with being idle for so long.
Sighing she glanced o her butcher and smiled, "I have named her Anouke. It means warrior. Fitting I think. Come sit with me. I can't move right now." She smirked at him, mostly to let him know they were both well. "she's fine. Healthy and perfect. I will heal, but I am going to hit you once I'm well."

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-15 12:20 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This "Anouke," Shesmu repeated quietly, kneeling down so that he could look at the baby that was part his. Ours, Sekhmet had said. Seemed impossible, but they were impossible things in the end.
"Is there pain?" he asked as he looked at her, still confused about all of this. He'd never been anywhere near a birth before and he'd never had to deal with mothers in such a immediate sense. His lioness had always been a warrior, a fierce killer and defender, and that there were other sides to her still came as a surprise. He understood the bloodlust, but he wasn't sure he understood a maternal nature. "You hitting me will make everything feel less strange."
"She's very small," he whispered, reaching out an overly cautious hand to touch the baby's head.

[info]powerfulfemale 2011-08-15 02:01 pm UTC (link) Track This "You won't hurt her," she smiled as she watched him, shifting so he could see the baby better, "small he says." She smirked then, "it's normal. When she grows she will probably grow as tall as me, if not you. And yes, there is pain, but I will heal. I'm built for this." Smiling she brushed one hand along his cheek, knowing he'd probably not yet feel right to hold the child. She would teach him, "give me a day or two. I'll hit you over the head.
She watched him, wondering if he still felt odd about this. "You will be fine, you know. And before you argue with me, there is but one question you need to ask yourself. If anyone, new god, mortal, or old god, would hurt the child would you not seek vengeance?" Smiling she set the back of her fingers on his cheek, "if you say yes, then you will do fine. She will be loved, and protected. No one needs to have all the answers."

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-15 03:30 pm UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Shesmu had not yet taken his eyes off the tiny baby as it slept - it had to still be alive and sleeping and not dead because Sekhmet was very calm about it. This was part him. He tried to make that all work in his head but it seemed like no matter how many times he told himself, it didn't feel quite real. Sekhmet was right in that she was made for this. Shesmu wasn't.
"I'll murder anyone who even looks at her," Shesmu promised with a low growl, looking at Sekhmet firmly before his eyes went immediately back to their little lion.

[info]powerfulfemale 2011-08-15 03:50 pm UTC (link) Track This She laughed and leaned her head against him. "That is all you will ever need to do. Do not look for questions or answers you cannot know. Simply be what you are. You do not need to understand everything. Trust me on this Shesmu, she'll think the world of you."
"Now, I need a bit of rest. Stay with us. She'll wake me if she needs me, and Mirror-Self is nearby."

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-17 07:00 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This He was willing to trust in Sekhmet because she understood these things that he didn't. He'd let her guide and remain the same. (Until, he reminded himself, Ptah returns. He would still be the child's father if Ptah allowed such, but he would not remain like this with Sekhmet.)
Shesmu nodded to her request. "Do you want me to carry you over to the bed?"

[info]powerfulfemale 2011-08-17 07:04 am UTC (link) Track This She grinned up to him, "yes. Be my strong butcher." Smiling she kissed him, "I love you. I do not say it enough. I'm not too terribly fond of you, and I'm still debating if I should let you into my bed again, but I love you."
She curled her child closer, smiling at him. "And I tease," she wasn't always sure he understood her humor. "I'd show you my gratitude now if I wasn't in so much pain."

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-17 07:07 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This He wasn't quite so sure why he was getting all these threats when she seemed to like the baby so much, but maybe that was a mother thing as well. "I love you too," he told her. (He didn't say it very often either. Those times could still be counted on one hand.)
He put his arms carefully under Sekhmet and lifted her up easily, hoping he wasn't causing her pain. He put her down gently on the bed and then sat down beside her. "You rest," he told her with a small smile. "I'll keep guard."

[info]powerfulfemale 2011-08-17 07:15 am UTC (link) Track This The movements had caused her to wince, but it wasn't much. The rest would help. She smiled and set her head on his shoulder. "I know you will. Two weeks of rest. Then take me hunting." Smiling she looked to the child before laying down and keeping her daughter close to her before allowing herself to drift off.

[info]divinebutcher 2011-08-17 07:23 am UTC (link) DeleteTrack This Asleep, Shesmu didn't allow himself to stroke Sekhmet's forehead as he sort of wanted to. He didn't want to wake her. The birth had sounded difficult.
So instead he remained where he was and watched the sleeping child. He'd guard them both.
