WHO: Lilith & OPEN
WHAT: A night out in the city
WHEN: Monday night
WARNINGS: Mentions of an already dead guy, tba
Under each street light her hair was like flame and the exposed skin of her cleavage was as pale as milk: the man-eating queen of hell, the Victorian vampire pin-up girl.
On nights like these, when the moon shone almost full and even the shadows were bright, Lilith could almost remember standing in a temple somewhere in Uruk or Babylon, clad in robes of deepest red and serving as sacred handmaiden to the goddess Ishtar, offering her body in the acts of sacred love that linked mankind to their goddess.
But it had never happened. Not really.
We're funny creatures, Lilith thought, grabbing the dead weight of the body under his arms as she dragged him behind a dumpester. To take the parts we like and discard the rest. Because what was truth anyway? She could remember a Garden as clearly as though she still walked in it, but modern science denied everything that her life was. But was science simply a game of God, that bastard trickster in the sky, putting fossils in the ground to make humanity doubt and make heaven more difficult to reach? Lilith didn't think it was out of character. This was the same God who put a tree in the Garden that he knew his children would take from. The same God who sent his own mortal son to die in agony for something he could have so easily done without such a death.
If they immortals were funny creatures, then God was even funnier. Or, at least, he seemed to think he was.
She dropped the dead man, pale from lack of blood, and pushed him further into the piles of rubbish with her shoe.
In town for just over a week, Lilith hadn't yet gone to see any of her own brethren despite comments that she might drop by. Might was always the keyword with Lilith. She remained in the service of no man, even if those men were the various princes of hell. Better than Adam by a mile, but still men nonetheless.
Men had their uses though, as this dead man could attest. She'd taken from him what she'd wanted, sating her desires for pleasure and blood at the same time. Mortal men couldn't keep up with her at the best of times.
With a flick of her hair and a straightening of her skirt, Lilith exited the alley to find more entertainment, her heels clicking against the pavement.
Lilith was not the only woman on the prowl that night. Satan was still dreaming, horrible guilty memories of a time before the Fall, and so she'd decided to pass on sleep for a while. It wasn't as though she needed it.
Instead, she walked, looking for a new target. It would probably be a man. Men were always so eager to give up their souls for women.
She wasn't expecting to run into the darker version of the first woman.
"Well, this is a surprise," she said, grinning from ear to ear upon spotting Lilith. "You've got a little bit of blood on the corner of your lip, darling."

The Feel of Satan was what came first, that unmistakable taste of ash burning on her tongue and a memory of cool scales sliding across her belly. Turning, Lilith expected to see that tall man with the charming smile, but instead it was the woman, a form Lilith had always liked less. Lilith wasn't a fool - she knew that the male form Satan wore was no more or less true than the female one and that gender was a thing that didn't truly belong to the likes of him, but Lilith was a seducer of men and she could hardly help her own preferences there.
"Not entirely a surprise," Lilith said, her own smile quieter, lurking at the edges of her lips, dangerous and dark. "You did know I was in the city."
In the presence of the Adversary the scarlet string around her wrist began to burn more painfully than usual, just as Lilith had suspected it would. (It was a recent addition to her get up, that Kabbalah string, at least in terms of someone who had lived as long as Lilith had. Only a decade or so and she'd been around none of the legions of Hell since then.
Lilith reached up to the edge of her lip, sweeping across the warm blood and then sucking it from her finger as she watched Satan. "I just had dinner," she smiled almost innocently.

"I hope I didn't interrupt?" Satan asked, sliding an overly friendly arm across Lilith's waist and giving her a peck on the cheek. "I'd hate for you to think I've gotten rude since you've been gone."

"If you were interrupting," Lilith assured Satan, "I'd have made a move to rip your throat out already." Her smile was sweet again. "Lovingly, of course."

Satan laughed, the sound sharp and surprisingly genuine. "And here I was worried you'd gone soft and given into all that granola, hippy bullshit that people like to make up about you."

Internally there was a part of Lilith that growled against Satan's words, but her face showed nothing. Those people he spoke of were Lilith's most loyal worshipers, her women, and those that chose her tended to be less disgustingly gentle than the other new pagan women around. For that at least she was grateful. But it didn't do to let the demons of Hell in on those sort of thoughts.
"Me?" Lilith purred. "Soft? I think you'll find the very idea is impossible," she promised the blonde, pressing close despite the less attractive form. "The fool made me to be a monster right from the beginning."

Satan patted her on the hip before letting her go, leaning back against the wall and digging one spiked heel into the brick. "Oh, don't sell yourself short. I think you did plenty to earn the reputation yourself. Lucy's been pining for you."

"I know," Lilith stated, never one for being humble. "Half of hell still trembles in fear when they see me. It's a well-earned delight."
At the mention of Lucifer, Lilith rolled her eyes with amusement. "The poor dear. Left with only mortals and second-rate succubi to warm his bed." She flicked her eyes to Satan's. "And you, love? Aren't you going to tell me how you've been pining?"

"I've cried myself to sleep every night you weren't by my side," Satan said, smiling widely. "Oh, speaking of people you enjoy riding, Joshua's in town."
