Scott loved living with Avery. It was different than living at home, of course. He had to clean and help take care of stuff, but he was committed to it. He did dishes and vacuumed and cleaned the bathroom and he picked up after himself and he did his own laundry in the basement laundry machines. His mother would be so proud of him! There was the camaraderie too. Yeah, Avery could be a little prickly, but Scott quickly realised when he was like that, just to give the other man space. It was worth it to learn the signs, because when Avery wasn't prickly, they had a great time. They went clubbing on occasion, they watched Netflix, they talked about urban legends, and they gamed together. It was so good.

It made him not miss Sophie as much.

Scott was busy playing killer on Dead by Daylight - he usually mained Pyramid Head - when Avery came home. "Hey!" Scott called out to him. "Almost done with this round and totally about to get a 4K! How was your day?"

"Hey!" Avery was in a good mood. Since Armaan had given him that money, he'd decided he was going to invest a lot of it, but he'd allowed himself a portion with which he could buy whatever would make him happy. And what made him happy was new gear.

His bedroom was small, with the queen bed in it, and the desk on one wall. He already had to push the chair right in if he wanted to walk around the bed. Now, however, it was worse. The chair was bigger, but it was way more fucking comfortable, and it had cup holders and vibration feedback from the PC when he was gaming, and inbuilt speakers in the headrest. The room was now mostly black too. Black bedcovers, and black gaming rig, the wall behind the desk painted black, so the LED trim on the optimum gaming rig was especially bright and it didn't distract from the wide curved monitor. It was his dream setup, basically. And now he had the next piece in that puzzle, because he was bringing home a brand new PS5 with a handful of games he was particularly keen to get into. He'd been trying to save up for it for ages but couldn't justify spending the money yet, until now.

He came into the apartment, kicking the door shut behind him. "Check. This. Out," he said, plonking the box onto the coffee table. "PS5 Pro. Upgraded GPU that has 67% more compute units and 28% faster memory, allowing for up to 45% faster rendering. 2000GB storage capacity. This is the good shit." He grinned, waiting for Scott to freak out over it. At least he'd get the best reaction from him. Armaan wouldn't get it in the same way.

Scott finished off his last kill and then he tossed the controller, not caring about how many bloodpoints he had gotten because wow.

"Oh my goddddd," Steve said, putting his hands to his face like the new PS5 in front of him was some kind ancient relic that deserved such awe. "It's so beautiful," he breathed. "How did you afford this?!" he hissed, then added, "you know what, I don't even care, I'm just glad it's here!"

"Got a bonus. Decided to live a little." Avery also plonked down a case of energy drink and a bottle of vodka, and a bag of Burger King. Bonus was accurate, in one way anyway. "We'll have to wait like five hours for the patch updates to download though, which is a bitch. But man, I can't wait to try this baby out!" He started ripping into the box to pull it out and clip on the decorative pieces he'd bought, then start plugging it in. "Have a burger, I got us both the same."

"Yeah go hard, man. I bought it to share." Avery gave Scooter a thumbs up as he fussed with the console, plugging it into the secondary HDMI port (was new TV on the list too?) and turning it on so he could run through the setup. "Fuckin hardware updates. God, so many gigs! Gonna have to think of something to do while this loads." He sat back, pulling out his phone to check his messages.

	"Order up." Avery took a gulp of the drink, noting with a wince that it was quite heavy on the vodka. Not that he minded, he wanted to have fun tonight. No work tomorrow after all. 	Scott wasn't actually competitive these days, so he just laughed at Avery when he said he would kick his ass. Maybe he would! "Sure!" "Fuckin creepy," Avery agreed, and the two of them settled in for a good hour or so of gaming, checking back every now and then to check if the PS5 was done updating.

Eventually, Avery grinned and nodded to Scott. "Finally! Lets get into this! Lets get on the store and find something to download! I wanna see Horizon Forbidden West with these graphics, it's gonna go off!"

Once their characters were ready, and set out on the road, Scott settled in to play. The opening story was long, but the first little fight with Lilith was great because they got to do it together. Then they were in the game, exploring and laughing as they plowed through enemies.

And then there was a knock on the door, and Scott paused it. "Did you invite someone?" he asked, excited. The more the merrier.

Gray smirked and he went to sit between Avery and Scott, and he sort of looped his arm around Avery. "What are you playing?" he asked as he pulled a container out of the bag which had spring rolls in it. "Sorry, what was your name again?"

"Scott," Scott said, since he didn't want Gray to call him his nickname. He didn't know why he was so bothered by Gray, but he kind of was.

"Help yourself, Scott," he said, though Scott stuck to the popcorn.

"Diablo IV. It's this fun, like, dungeon crawler game, we were just checking it out." Avery's whole demeanour had changed, now that he had someone he wanted to impress. The silly little game was just whatever, when he had adult things to do with another adult. "What made you come over here, with spring rolls?" He took one and bit the end off it, realising just how phallic that looked as he was doing it so he didn't have a chance to make it look extra sexy.

"Yeah, you," Gray laughed, and he reached down to sort of squeeze Avery's pec. "And I'm sure you can imagine what kind of fun. Though if you would rather play this game I don't mind. I can watch instead." He actually did mean it, he wasn't being a dick. Even so, Scott had to actively work on not rolling his eyes.

"How magnanimous," he said, glaring at the screen and refusing to watch the man paw at his housemate.

"It's Scott," Scott grumbled. He wasn't about to touch their goddamn sex food. He had been looking forward to an entire night of gaming and now this. That was all this was. Right? Right.

	Avery took Gray's hand and followed him in without a backwards glance, shutting the door behind him with a thud. He didn't think about Scott having to endure the thumps and creaks that indicated physical activity in Avery's old bed, because Grey was smiling at him and drawing him in for a kiss, and Avery wasn't going to say no to that.
