While one could argue she would get more done by studying sitting in a chair, Lena was studying for her final while sitting in her husband’s lap. He was seated at the dining room table, looking over her shoulder at the book and acting super interested in learning all about being a nurse.

Lena heard the door open and she called out, figuring it was one of the kids. “In here!” she said cheerfully.

Thomas took that moment to giggle and point to her book, “that’s a dick.”

“Yes, Honey. This is a urology exam. Well pointed out, you should be a nurse too.”

“Hahahah dick,” was Thomas’ very intelligent answer.

Roxanna came in at the tail end of Thomas' giggling, a smile appearing on her face. "I heard dicks," she laughed. "Hey you two. How's everything?"

She took a seat across from Lena, setting her backpack next to the chair. "I have an exam in a few days, I should study. But coffee first, I think. And maybe a snack."

“I could get that for you, but this lap is so comfy,” Lena smirked.

“And I’m being a chair,” Thomas said. “But I could make you a snack in a moment! Lena is studying dicks.” Thomas pointed out the drawing in the book helpfully. “How was your day?”

Roxanna waved her hand, smiling at them. "You two are fine, I just need to unwind for a second before I dive back into my work. But yes! I heard dicks, is it the reproductive system?"

“Urology,” Lena said, and then she rose so Thomas could actually go and fix coffee and a snack. She sat back down though, pulling her book closer to her. “I’m being ridiculous because I have an exam, but I know all this.” She looked up to smile at Roxy. “What do you need unwinding from?”

"Oh, it's nothing bad," she hastened to assure Lena. "I just…saw Patroclus today for the first time in a while. And we're going on a date! And giving being together another go, cross your fingers that this time works out for us."

Lena’s jaw dropped open, an excited sort of awe, and then she snapped her book shut quickly. “Oh my god, tell me everything!” she hissed, and then she laughed because Thomas had turned around and he was mirroring her expression.

“Oh my god, tell her everything!” Thomas added, excited. “What did he say?! What happened?! What are you going to do?!” No one could ever say Thomas wasn’t excited as shit for the happiness of his kids.

Roxanna laugher happily, sitting forward in her chair and folding her hands in front of her. "Well I went to see Julia at Fusion Blues, and he was there since he was working. And he asked to talk, and I figured it couldn't hurt anything."

"So we went to his office and talked, and one thing led to another, and we kissed on the couch for a little bit before Julia found us. She's also very excited, by the way. And we're going to go see Barbie tomorrow. He said he missed me, and you guys know how much I missed him all this time. So I'm really hopeful that it can work out.

“KISSING!” Thomas squealed, and Lena flapped her hands at him to shush, because she wanted to hear more.

“GO MAKE COFFEE” she hissed at him. “You’re going on a date!? Oh my god, we have to go shopping, what’s the time, are the stores open!” Lena was far too excited and she was ready to jump into this. She had always liked Patroclus, so this was cause for celebration.

Roxanna grinned, because she'd been on the money about Thomas' reaction. And it warmed her heart that they were so invested in her happiness, to be so happy about what she'd told them.

"It's only about 3:30, we should have plenty of time if you want me to try things on," she laughed. "I got rid of some things a few months ago and I think some of them were date clothes. So I probably need a wardrobe update."

It was Lena’s turn to squeal because she loved shopping and dressing Roxanna up like a doll. They were two of her favourite things. “Oh my god yes, coffee to go! I need shoes! Where are my shoes!”

“Oh the shoe rack,” Thomas supplied, helpfully. “Do you need me to carry? I will be an excellent packhorse.”

	"Yes pleased, also come along because I value both of your opinions," Roxanna added, standing back up to pull on her Hoodia. She fished in her pocket for a hair tie, pulling her hair up into a high ponytail. "Oh, can we get a big pretzel while we're there?" she asked. "I'm craving that cheese sauce." 	"You value my opinion on clothes?" Thomas asked, and then he snorted, rather indecorously. "That's my hot husband," Lena laughed as she fetched her shoes. "I value your opinion about most things," Roxanna told him, because she did. Thomas had been there for her at the worst time of her life, and he and Lena kept proving every day that they were always there for her. Her heart was always full whenever she walked into their house.

"Excellent," she answered, rubbing her hands together with glee. "I can manage trying on heels if I get a pretzel in me."

Roxanna smiled softly as Thomas kissed her head. It was that soft, easy affection that she had always longed for being a kid in the system, and now that she had it, she had no intention of ever letting it go.

"He is the dad-iest of dads, though, let's be real," she laughed as she took Lena's arm so they could head it. "Oh, and there was something else I wanted to run past you. Could you help me with my makeup? I can do most of my face, but the eyeliner likes to fight me every time I so much as look at it."

Thomas knew his wife well enough to cover his ears just in time after Roxanna's request. And just as he had known, Lena squealed out her excitement. "YES!" she bounced her way to their car, "yes yes, makeuppppppppp!"

The drive was a happy one, chatty and giggly. Thomas parked up and the three of them piled out, heading in to find something wonderful for Roxanna to wear. "Are we going glam, or more casjh?" Lena asked as they strolled through the mall.

Roxanna laughed as Lena squealed in excitement, wrapping her up in a hug and bouncing with her as they headed to the car. "I swear, any time I try to do a wing or a tight line, my hands just give up and don't want to do what I tell them anymore."

"Maybe glam?" Roxanna mused, looking at the various window displays as they walked past. "I live in jeans and t-shirts most of the time, and while I know that's fine, I want this to be a little more special, I think. Try to start everything out on a high note."

Roxanna knew by now to trust the process, and Lena had never steered her wrong before. She always looked amazing when she let the other woman dress and make her up.

"Oh I don't even know," she answered, twisting her fingers into a knot. "I know I look good in greens and reds, and yellow tends to make me look sick. I'd say black, but I already wear a lot of that and I was thinking I'd branch out a little."

	"I'm willing to try it," she answered, devouring the remaining piece of her pretzel. "Maybe a dark pink? Or whatever you think might be best." "She really can, she always looks amazing," Roxanna said, smiling over at Thomas. 	"Dark pink I can do!" she said, after planting a kiss on Thomas' cheek for the compliment. "Follow me!" She led them to a cute shop that had a bit of a goth vibe, but not too much. Perfect for what she was thinking. And she found the cutest little pink tartan pinafore the second she walked in. "Oh look!" she said, pointing at it. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Roxanna followed behind her, not really certain where they were going, but willing to see how it would all play out. "Ooh, like semi-sheer black with maybe flowy sleeves?" Roxanna asked, warming to the idea more and more. "I like the idea of that. And maybe my platform boots? I can get some pink laces to go with the dress."

She grinned up at Thomas, tucking her hair behind her ears. "Thank you, Thomas. I really don't think I would want to be on this excursion with anyone else."

	"Yes!" Lena bounced a little on the balls of her feet. She could definitely find something in her closet as a safety net but she hoped to find something new just for Roxy. "I will!" she agreed, combing through the racks to find her size. Thankfully it was in stock, as well as one size up and down in case the cut was a bit funky.

Casting a glance around the shop, she nibbled her bottom lip with her teeth. Roxanna trusted Lena's fashion sense, the other woman always looked great no matter what she was wearing. She was just worried that she might look silly once she was outfitted.

She looked back toward Lena and Thomas, trying not to let the nerves show on her face. "Alright, let's get this party started!" she exclaimed, twirling a bit on the spot.
