It was awful, the whole story, and it was ridiculous, and seeing both reflected in Cathal's face made Rosario crack a little more. She laughed again, feeling slightly hysterical as hot tears leaked out the corners of her eyes. She scrubbed at them with the back of her free hand, trying to claw back a semblance of control. Tried to focus on Cathal's hand in hers and the fact that he didn't think she was crazy, and maybe she shouldn't go and prove him otherwise.
"It was so insane," she said, after a shaky breath. "I'm trying to convince her she needs to let me get somebody to help her, or come with me to the ranger's station, and she's like... so casual, like she's not looking like something that crawled outta the ground. She's like, 'nah, I'm good'. So... I don't know what to do. I tell her I've got stuff at my tent, so she follows me back, I give her some water and food and clothes, and then she just... leaves. No explanation."
