Sloth paused, and then barked a laugh, spraying cereal crumbs over the bed. "Oh honey," she said mockingly, amused at his attempt to regain control, "I don't go until I want to go. You know there's nobody else like me. Look how you spiraled without me here." She set aside the box and crawled over the bed toward Scott, reaching out to put a hand on his cheek. "You need me," she said softly, leaning in as if for a kiss, and instead licking up the side of his face. She could almost taste his misery, and it gave her tingles. "Don't be mad. It's so much wasted energy, and what does it get you? Anyway. I came back. Don't that show I care?"
