Elijah actually chuckled, just a little, at the starry night comment. “Damn right I won’t be fussy. A real bed? Heaven.” He sat back down at the table, and resumed eating, though he was doing it at a more relaxed pace now that he wasn’t feeling so desperate.
“It’s made up,” Tuck said easily, “Addy’s been staying in there. Let me just make sure the sheets are new though-” Tuck slipped away to putz, and Elijah looked up at his new friend.
“You have a real nice life, Will. Beautiful baby, sweet partner, nice house. You were not lying about how delicious this food is.” It was both a complement, and a lead in to a deeper comment. “You gave this up without knowing how long for, to save our asses. That’s-” Elijah shook his head and ate another bite before he landed on, “real bravery.”
