"Yessss," Lyra squeezed him a little, the spirit of vodka drawing out the s for extra fun, though the rest of her words bounded outta her mouth in quick succession. "Viviane knows this underground bar, like literally underground so we been flying all evenin' and burrowin' all night - oh my god you shoulda seen me, I did the best cutaway half I ever did tonight, fucking hell, just flawless, we had to go celebrate after, naturally." She grinned again, still feeling the thrill of it. He shoulda seen it; like, there was never a more perfect place to show off than on a trapeze and no one she wanted to show off more to than Avery (or maybe Patrick), but he never managed to get off work in time to leg it to her class to watch. She'd told him before he could always come late, catch the end of it, and them come out with them all afterwards - or even meet them out on the town somewhere, though that was a logistical nightmare. They coulda made it work though, if they tried, she was sure. She wanted to go out dancing with him more than anything, even though he claimed he couldn't dance (everyone could dance, that was dumb) and she wanted the chance to like, tell a joke that'd made both him and Soledad laugh.
She was so convinced they'd all get on, she just hadta get them all in the same place at the same time to try. But obviously not on a night when they were going to, like, roller disco (could he even skate?) or karaoke (he definitely couldn't sing) and she wasn't gonna drag him to like, Mack's favourite lesbian bar, so she hadta pick her moment.
