Henry's eyebrows went to his hairline and he hesitated for a second before whispering, "just- It's okay," because everyone was looking and they all looked as uncomfortable, except Krampus who looked rapt.
Henry opened his own present like it was going to bite him, and he took a peek into the box just in case. And he was glad he had. Horror froze his belly as he saw a new cat of nine tails coiled in the box, and he slammed the lid closed again. Like hell was he going to show Iestyn - who had been whipped by Lucifer - that Henry had been given a whip that Krampus expected him to use on his husband. No. Iestyn wasn't going to see it at all.
Henry stowed the box beside him and then he rose from his chair, Krampus watching him delightedly. "Did you like it?" Krampus asked gleefully.
"No," Henry said, the tone of his voice ice-cold. In fact, as he strode across the room towards Krampus, it seemed like he was chanelling Nick to some extent. Not the happy, joyful Nick, but the imposing Nick that even the devil feared. It was like he grew taller, his face hardening into something stern and immutable. "No, Krampus, I didn't like it. You have been asked, in no uncertain terms, to stay out of my life with my husband, and you repeatedly ignore those requests. So I'm not asking any more. You leave my husband alone, you leave me alone, you stop sending us creepy presents. Do you hear me?"
It wasn't like Henry could actually do anything to Krampus, but he had said so in such a terrifying way, that Krampus found himself nodding. Henry's demeanor left little wonder that he had been groomed for CEO before giving it all up.
