The woman's lips thinned and she said, "Scott, may I speak with you, please?"
Scott groaned, but he pulled himself off of the sofa so they could move away from Sophie. He didn't really want to talk to his mom, but he really did want that pizza. "Yeah, what's up?"
"How long do you think you're little friend is going to be staying with us, Scott?" his mother whispered.
"I dunno," Scott answered back. "Long as she wants. Hey, can you make pot roast tomorrow night?"
"I-" The woman sighed and said, "you know my friend Christina? Her daughter is back from Keuka for the holiday and she always did like you. Why don't you take her out, son?"
"Ew, Hannah? No. Mom. No. I like Sophie."
Scott's mother sighed again and she backed up. "I- I'll go order the pizza," she said, resigned.
Scott grinned, "thanks, Mom!" and he went to flop back on the sofa. "Hhahaha she doesn't like youuuu."
