Armaan expected Rhadika to be a little sad at that revelation. She had always harped on Armaan about the importance of getting a well-paying job so he didn't have to struggle like she did. To the contrary though, she looked positively charmed by Freddie's answer. And good, because that was how Armaan thought of it too. The work Freddie did was amazing, who cared how much he made. He was changing people's lives.
"Oh that's amazing," Rhadika gushed. "What a beautiful thing for you to do, darling Freddie." Oh, so she was calling him 'darling Freddie' now?! Yep, she definitely approved of him, and Armaan was relieved. "I am sure the young ones would love Armaan's weather puns! And his silly ties. He's been collecting them for awhile now. He gets them every Christmas. Oh! Christmas! Freddie, you must spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with us!"
Armaan, who had warned Rhadika ahead of time not to ask about Freddie's family, knew she had correctly assumed he didn't have any. And she was being sweet and generous, but they hadn't even discussed Christmas yet. "Heh. A Khatri Christmas," Armaan said, amused. "Buckle up, cutie."
