Iestyn sighed deeply, and looked up at the trees. Everything was so calm and peaceful here, a step out of time, giving them a chance to breathe. It was the greatest of mercies that things hadn't been worse. Henry was alive, and healed, at least physically. So was Iestyn. Despite all the hardship, they were whole and together.
"It's been such a hot summer," he said. "I'm happy to see autumn. I loved the smell of the leaves back home, and the way things are here kind of reminds me of there. Not quite as wet though, right now! I am glad, at least, that I had the chance to take you there and show you to Ma. I'm glad we are together." He leaned in against Henry's side and closed his eyes a moment to better smell the air as he breathed in.
