Organising protests was something Tuck excelled at, and he had reached out to a local feminist group to organise yet another protest of the anti-abortion laws and the repeal of Roe vs Wade. They had had a meeting to plan everything, and now the group was spread out across the Cedar Room to make signs and things. Tuck had the kitchen ovens going, making snacks and drinks while people with far better artistic skills than he had worked.

Brook, who had been babysitting Evie for the afternoon, entered the Cedar Room with Evie on her hip. "She missed you," Brook smiled, and Tuck darted out of the kitchen to scoop Evie into his arms and plant kisses all over her face.

"There's my girl!" he said, as Evie squealed and Brook laughed.

While Tuck doted on Evie, Brook glanced around the room, watching the protest signs take shape in front of her. "Hey, what are those for?" she asked to the closest person to her. She seemed to be in charge somehow even though she looked to be Brook's age.
