Who: Prometheus & Aidan What: Some fanboying, followed by, "Dude, you haven't aged at all" When: Tuesday afternoon Where: Prometheus' studio
Aidan loved Jade, he really did. She was a good friend, and he wished he had more free time to spend with her. However, the consequences of this most recent visit were making him feel like he was riding a tilt-a-whirl. While lying down.
Having procured greasy food (he loved Lena too, and her brother Florian), more painkillers, and a huge bottle of water, he set out for Theon's studio. As if he'd needed more incentive to skip class today, catching up with one of his favorite artists was certainly a good reason. The place was easy enough to find, since it was right next door to Jade's. He might have fidgeted a little, making sure he looked presentable, fist hovering over the doorknob.
And then, as he'd been instructed, he knocked.
firestealer 2011-07-26 05:40 pm (local) (link) Select Prometheus wasn't fully ashamed to admit he was a bit lonely. His brother had Pandora, and he only his daughter. And if this kid happened to love his work, well that was only better.
Even Titans needed a bit of an ego boost somedays.
Even with fans blazing and airconditioning cranked to high, the place was still hot. When the knock came he shrugged his shirt back on and opened the door, smiling to the young man behind it. "Adrian?" He stepped back and motioned him inside. "Come on in, you doing alright?" He could imagine the poor kid had a hell of a hang over. (Reply to this)(Thread)
becomesthisart 2011-07-26 06:00 pm (local) (link) Select Aidan looked up and smiled as the door opened. "Hi! It's, uhm, it's Aidan, actually, but that's me." He stepped inside and shut the door behind him. The place was really hot, and he was glad he'd traded his T-shirt for a tank top.
"As well as can be expected, I guess," he said with a rueful smile. "Taking Advil almost religiously, slugging water like it's going out of style, avoiding most sources of light at all cost."
He might have been babbling, sure, but Theon was an artist he really admired, and he was only human. Seeing him again gave him flashbacks to the exhibition, and...wait, that couldn't be right. His eyes had to be playing tricks on him. He put it down to the hangover, but he would have sworn Theon looked exactly the same as he did all those years ago. He blinked a few times, trying to clear his head.
"It was so weird, you were the last person I was expecting to talk to online, whilst under the siren spell of Bombay," he said with a grin. "But sometimes Fate works out, I guess." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-26 06:24 pm (local) (link) Select It was an honest slip, but still he nodded. "Sorry, Aidan then." He walked inside the studio, that was littered with sculptures, and Pandora's bust still stood under a light waiting for an owner that would never pick it up.
"It's been a long time since I drank that much, but I can offer some coffee. I hear it does wonders." He'd honestly forgot about the whole 'non-aging' thing. Aidan seemed to know Jade well, and seemed to like his art. Reasons enough to entertain the young man, besides him being rather cute.
"It does. It's nice." He took a seat on his chair, a block of clay before him. "Well welcome to my studio. It's not much, but it's home." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
becomesthisart 2011-07-26 07:01 pm (local) (link) Select "It's fine," he replied with a smile. There were sculptures everywhere, and he made doubly sure to look where he was going. He sure as hell didn't want to destroy anything.
He noticed the bust and bent down a little to examine it. "This is really good," he said, in a hushed sort of voice. "She looks sad, or afraid. Or maybe both."
"It will be a long time before I ever drink that much again," he announced melodramatically. "But I'd love some coffee, thank you." Later, he was going to ask Jade why she'd never mentioned him being her neighbor before, but that wasn't a pressing issue at the moment.
"It kind of reminds me of my apartment, but more...focused, if that makes any sense. I have all different kinds of projects everywhere, and your studio is like..." he trailed off, thinking. "A sculpture garden, I suppose. But better? If that makes any sense." He forced himself to shut up and stop rambling. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-26 07:09 pm (local) (link) Select He smiled to the praise, busying himself with making the coffee. "Thank you. I was going for both. It was a gift to my sister in law, before we had a disagreement and she didn't take it." He shrugged, "I'll find an owner for it somewhere I imagine."
Laughing he handed Aidan the mug of coffee, "I was young like you once, and I said the same thing almost every week. Still did it at the end. Although, don't take lessons from me. I'm the one with the liver problem." Smiling he sat back down, "it's kind of disorganized to me, but thank you. Sculpting is what I do best. You have a preferred medium?" becomesthisart 2011-07-26 08:01 pm (local) (link) Select "That really sucks," he said quietly. "She's missing out. But I'm sure you'll be able to find a home for it."
"You don't look that much older than me," he said with a laugh. "And honestly, I don't drink that much very often, or even drink very often. But Jade said she was trying to toughen me up. And it's hard to say no to her."
He snorted. "You think this is bad, you should see my apartment. I start things and finish them...whenever, usually, so there's half-done things everywhere. And I'm horribly messy. I had a marker explode the other day, and I have no clue how. But now there's an explosion of purple on my wall. There's no way in hell I'm getting my deposit back."
"Drawing, usually," he replied, sipping his coffee. "And making things out of metal. The high school I went to, I was fortunate enough to have access to a forge, and I really liked working with the metal, shaping it to the design I wanted." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-26 08:08 pm (local) (link) Select He smiled to that, glancing to the bust. Maybe he should just send it to Epimetheus. Pandora wouldn't approve, he knew, but he hardly looked for her approval. "Thank you."
The comment about age went unadressed, mostly because it made him feel old. He chuckled to the comment about Jade, "she has that way about her." He rather liked Jade. IT was easy to be comfortable with her.
"Say it's modern art. It may not work, but it's worth the try. And probably the heat. I don't do markers though so I have no idea." He listened, sipping from the coffee now and again before fishing for a pack of cigarettes. With Aletheia out of the city, he could smoke here again, "you mind? And what do you want to do with it all? Have your own studio, or something different?" (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
becomesthisart 2011-07-27 01:22 am (local) (link) Select "She does," he agreed with a smile. "Kind of like a moth to a flame. And she's the one who kicks my butt into going outside when I'm turning into a recluse."
He laughed, a bright sound that was almost startled out of him. "I could try that. I'm about 90% sure my landlady won't buy it, but maybe if I turn the puppy dog eyes on her and offer to paint before I move out, she might forgive me." He considered that explanation. "You're probably right. I like to have some on hand for when I'm in the mood to draw graphic novel-style."
He waved his hand. "Not at all. Only reason I didn't ask first was because I ran out and forgot to buy more. As for what I want to do, I'm going for my Master's of art therapy. Try to help people work things out by creating things, I guess. I'm just trying everything I can so I can at least have a little talent for it. So if one method doesn't work for someone, or they get frustrated, we can try something else." He shrugged. "It's also an excuse to take all the art classes ever," he said with a grin. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-27 01:28 am (local) (link) Select "Oddly she does the same to me. She is a good friend to have. I was in an odd state when I met her, and ever glad that I did now." He smiled to that. For that he'd always be grateful.
He smiled to the laugh, "it's always worth a try. And you can explain the heat had some effect. It may help your cause." he nodded, "I just got my clay. That doesn't explode unless I make it explode. Quite fun sometimes."
He took out a cigarette and lit it, offering the pack to Aidan. "Very noble work. I just create for my own sake. I'm selfish that way." He laughed, "well if you ever need help, do ask. I like trying to help." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
becomesthisart 2011-07-27 01:51 am (local) (link) Select "If it wasn't for her, I'd be the brooding art student shut up in my apartment. So yes, she definitely is."
He grinned. "It is, and she says I remind her of her grandson. So if I go, 'I'm so sorry, I think the heat made it explode' and then pout"-here he demonstrated-"she'll probably forgive me."
He raised a eyebrow. "The only time I made clay explode was when I left a pot in the kiln too long. My teacher was not impressed. I laughed, but he gave me a lecture on kiln safety. It was worth it."
He took one and lit it, letting the nicotine fill his lungs. "Thank you. Seriously. And it's not selfish, at least I don't think so. I create as my own form of therapy, or just because. And I definitely will, thank you." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-27 02:04 am (local) (link) Select Jade was a precious thing. Now he had to find a way for her to step down from the ledge she was on, without making her aware of what he was doing. He'd lost too much in his long life.
He laughed to the pout but he could see how it would work. Even he'd cave to that. "I'm sure she will. I would." He shook his head, "that is bad. Worth it, but bad."
"Welcome. Bad habit but an art students bread and butter." He shrugged, "you'd rather help people. I only want to help myself. And show my art, although I haven't done a gallery in ages." (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
becomesthisart 2011-07-27 11:02 pm (local) (link) Select It was hard holding the pout when he wasn't really trying, but he was pleased that Theon laughed. "I swore to Jade I'd only use their powers for good...which she saw right through, but it was worth a try." He shrugged, grinning. "The shrapnel was pretty cool. It wasn't when a piece almost winged me, but on the whole."
"So much truth there," he agreed, taking another drag. "And I figure, if I can, I might as well, surely I'm not the only person who might find making a pot and then smashing it therapeutic. Or, I don't know, flinging paint everywhere. Whatever works. And I've never done a gallery, so I guess I can't really miss it." He shrugged. (Reply to this)(Parent) (Thread)
firestealer 2011-07-27 11:23 pm (local) (link) Select He liked this kid. He smiled easily and it was something Prometheus needed. A reminder that his son's descendants were wonderful, and a confirmation why Prometheus had done what he'd done.
"I should, Jade mentions it every so often but it would involve getting our from under my rock. I'm not good with people. Although when Jade had hers a bit back, I wore a dress for it." He smirked to the memory. He wondered how Aletheia would like him. "You know I could always use an extra hand. My daughter helps me, but she's out of town for the moment. If you'd like some hands on experience, preferably without blowing up kilns, it's always needed here."
