She wasn't surprised that people thought about babies in Spring, with everything having come back so bright and alive from the dead of winter. Makaria felt like she saw a lot more babies around. (It had made Makaria wonder if she could one day have a baby herself. Would she like that? Babies seemed sweet but... they were extremely alive. Makaria liked looking after people, but preferred if they were dead.)
"They're very well," Makaria said, sliding herself up onto her favourite bench for sitting, her legs swinging a little. "Mama is so different in Spring. She's softer than I'm used to. Back in Greece I only ever knew her in the winter when she was iron queen, but up here and in spring... she's not quite what I expected. But she sends her regards to you." Hades didn't send his regards, but Freyr would surely not be surprised there. Makaria felt like Hades was trying to just ignore all of this.
