Beginnings belonged to Clotho, so it was Clotho who waited behind the counter, determinedly attacking a tangle of embroidery floss. Atropos had wanted to go at it with the scissors, which was a very Atropos solution to a problem and a complete waste of some perfectly good thread. All it needed was a little time and patience the get the strands separated out.
She looked up when the bell above the door jingled, smiled when she saw its cause. "Hi!" she called, waving the woman over. "It's Kyos, right?" Kyos Terranova: new land, a new name, a new beginning. This was going to work out brilliantly, Clotho was positive. She rose from her seat, setting down the mess of threads on the counter, whereupon they promptly slipped from her mind. (Beginnings belonged to Clotho, but the follow-through— that was her sister-selves' domain. She picked up new projects and hobbies with ease, and just as easily left them and their detritus by the wayside, always with the earnest intention of finishing up later.)
"I'm Clotho. Lachesis and Atropos are here too, they'll be down in a minute." Lachesis was upstairs attending to the Loom. Atropos, last she'd checked, had been gossiping loudly on speakerphone with one of her cards friends while stabbing at her embroidery hoop, picking out a four-letter word in candy-pink turkeywork. "Do you want to have a look around first?"
