"I know," Mary said quietly, holding onto his offered arms and giving him a watery smile. "I think it's just all hitting me now that I'm home. I was so focused on just getting myself back here that-" She shrugged. It was funny how the human mind tried to work, even the human mind that technically wasn't entirely human. Mary was not a god, not some great and mighty being. Even the people who prayed to her knew that she was just a woman who had done the right things at the right time.
"I'll be okay," she promised Nicholas, because he needed her to be okay especially. "I've had worse. I'll just need some time."
