WHO: Makaria & Hades
WHEN: Tuesday morning
WHERE: Hades' house
WHAT: The morning after drunken times
When Makaria woke the next morning after the party it took a moment for her to remember the things she'd done. But it was, sadly, a very short moment and she remembered - very vividly - kissing Ares and ditching Melinoe.
Makaria climbed out of bed quickly and dressed, hoping to find her sister already home. Melinoe's bedroom was empty when Makaria looked, but she didn't know if that meant her sister had been here and gone or never come home at all. She ran back to her room to get her phone and sent a text to find out as she walked down to the kitchen, hoping maybe her sister was there having breakfast.
But it wasn't her sister she saw in the kitchen but her father. Makaria froze. "Hello papa," she said, trying to sound casual.

Hades wasn't pleased, but he was trying to remain rational. Making Makaria go back to her Island would be pointless, and it wasn't like she'd gotten in that much trouble.
He was trying very hard to be progressive, especially with Persephone in the house.
But he still crossed his arms at the sight of his daughter. "Makaria." He motioned to a chair, "sit down. I'd like you to explain last night."

Makaria felt like a tiny child again. She'd never really been in trouble before in her life. She had probably done naughty child things, but as soon as she'd come of age she had taken on her responsibility on the Isles of the Blest and done all she could to be just what her father wanted.
This was a new and horrible feeling.
"I went to a Halloween party," she began, eyes on her hands as she folded them in her lap. "You said that I was allowed."

"You are," he was terribly tempted to just forgive Makaria but he needed to know what had occurred. "I am not angry that you went and that boy that brought you home earns my respect for making sure of your safety. However I would like to know what you got up to." And then as an aside, "you do not need to share details." And that was hard enough to say. Makaria was his little girl, and he'd keep her from Olympus' greedy hands for as long as he breathed. But she was also a young goddess who needed to learn of life, before she ended up in a situation similar to her mother's.
And he'd rather avoid that. "But I would like to know some things. If you enjoyed yourself, mostly. But I will not hide my concern. Mortals can be as hurtful as any god. One day, you will understand my worries."

"I enjoyed myself," Makaria told him, thinking about it. "But I have decided that drinking is not something I am interested in doing again. I made me ask careless and I spoke too much of things that shouldn't be shared with mortals." She looked a little guilty then but shook her head. "Although I remember now that it seems Theseus simply thought I was being strange because of the alcohol."
It was probably clear from Makaria's expression that she wanted to say more, but she was quite sure if she should. Should she mention the Ares part?

He listened with care and shrugged, "it's not a bad thing, especially when the mortal boy didn't seem to take you serious. Best to mind yourself next time. We hide out of necessity, and many mortals would seek to hurt you."
He knew there was more though and he nodded to her, "and?"

"I know, papa," Makaria said, dropping her gaze again. "It's hard to remember who I am pretending to be. I've never had to deceive before, and last night it seemed such a good idea to speak the truth."
"And..." Makaria knew this was going to be bad. "And I met an Olympian."

He blinked for a moment before deciding it was best to keep his calm. He'd always been laureled as a fair and level headed judge. However those things had never included his daughters. He was allowed a bias there.
"I thought I'd asked you to leave if you encountered one." For a moment he hoped it was one of the less crazy ones, and that Zeus was still a block of stone. "Did this Olympian harm you?"

"I forgot that you'd told me that," Makaria admitted. "I had been drinking by then and... well... he seemed very nice at the time. Although, I suppose, my judgment may have been coloured..." She bit the inside of her cheek and then said, "it was Ares."

Something went very still in him at that confession. Too much to hope it had been a sibling who knew Makaria then, or an Olympian with half a brain. Part of him wanted to rage, but Makaria had not deserved his ire.
Ares, on the other hand, would get a talking to. "Makaria. Did he hurt you?" That was most important. If Ares had made some kind of a move on his daughter Hades saw no issue in stepping over several boundaries and taking the matter into his own hands, Zeus be damned.

"No, he didn't hurt me," Makaria said quickly. Then she took a long breath in hopes to prepare herself for the next reaction. "He kissed me."

Hades decided that he couldn't sit anymore. He'd listened to countless spirits tell their tale, but this he could not sit through. So he rose and paced for a moment. Unlike his brothers he wasn't one to show his anger in flashy displays. There was no trembling earth or sky, just a cold glint in his eyes.
"Is that all?" he prayed it was or he'd possibly just go mad. Ares was no better then his no good father. Worse was how alike Aphrodite he was, and Hades didn't like the Love Goddess on principle.

"Yes," Makaria said and then looked at him with worry. "I'm sorry, papa," she pleaded, standing up and wringing her hands. "I'm not even sure how it happened, but it seemed like a very good idea when it happened and he wasn't mean to me at all, but we were talking and then he kissed me and... I perhaps kissed him back somewhat. But then Theseus came and took me away so I wouldn't continue on something so foolhardy that, truly, I don't want now that I have sense returned to me. Please, papa, please don't be furious with me."

Sighing he turned to her and went to set his hands on her shoulders. "Makaria I am not upset with you." He gave her a tiny smile, "I am not exactly pleased you went and kissed Ares, of all gods, but I am glad he didn't hurt you. I do trust you Makaria. I do not trust anyone else in this thrice cursed pantheon. Besides your sister and mother." He set a kiss on her forehead. "Being intoxicated makes one act different from their normal selves. I do not blame you for that."

"I don't understand why people drink," Makaria said with a shake of her head. "I would never have done such a thing without alcohol. Why do you drink, papa?" she asked him, wishing she understood more of this. "I don't understand." She sighed. "There is so much about these mortals that I still don't understand. These warm men who walk the earth, they aren't my heroes from below. They confuse me."

"I know dear." He released her and went to sit back down. Days like this he felt old, his bones as old as the earth. He shrugged at her question, "I can't really answer that Makaria. I think part of it is I'm just used to it. I wouldn't suggest trying to mimic the reasons for it." He motioned to the kitchen, "eat something. I find hang overs are rather dreadful."

"I feel fine," Makaria told him, wondering if she was supposed to be feeling ill. But still she walked over towards the fridge and poured herself a glass of juice, thinking about things.
"Ares told me that I was pretty," she said to Hades with a frown, raising her eyes to him where he sat. "Is that true?" Concepts of beauty had more of less completely bypassed Makaria on her island. She had nothing to tell her whether a person looked good or not, and among her men she really only saw those that had been physically deformed as somehow 'less' than the others. Besides, men in all ways were easier for Makaria to understand. Women were a mystery to her, knowing only the denizens of the underworld.

He answered with a smile, "I am your father. So my view is perhaps a bit biased in this regard. But yes. You are very beautiful. Took after your mother, which is a benefit I'll assure you." then he nodded, "Well I am pleased you aren't feeling bad. But do eat something."

Makaria smiled at her father's compliment and then nodded to the food mention. Breakfast food would be good.
"I lost Melinoe as well," Makaria admitted, this not feeling quite so bad as having kissed Ares. "That was why Theseus brought me home instead of her."

That was not a good thing, but he knew Melinoe. She would come home. He still worried though. He would call Hecate and see if she knew anything. "I wondered about that. I'll see if Hecate's heard anything about that and remind your sister to not make me worry so." The girls gave him more headaches then his realm ever could, but he hardly minded. He liked worrying over them. He tried to be the best father he could be.
"Have the servants make you something. I'm going to make sure all is well down Below then make myself scarce. Will you be alright?" He preferred not to be visible while Persephone was adjusting. He didn't want to make this more awkward then it needed to be. And he did need to talk to Ares.

"I'll be alright," Makaria nodded and when her phone buzzed in her pocket she pulled it out and read the text with a smile. "And Melinoe is alright too, she just messaged me." Hades had nothing to worry about for either of his girls, Makaria knew. They were both good and she'd never go near Ares again.
"Go," she told him with a nod. "Go be king, we're fine here, I promise."

He gave a nod, "tell her she's still in trouble for not returning home." The same rules applied to both his daughters. He was more relaxed around Melinoe, but it wouldn't be fair to hold her to different rules. Smiling he set his hand on her head and brushed her hair from her eyes.
"I know," still he whistled for Cerberus and wit ha nod made him sit near Makaria. He didn't like leaving the girls alone. "Don't feed him. I'll be back. Find something to drag me to." He spend as much time with his daughters as possible, which was easier now the duties in his realm were less.
And he knew that she'd feed Cerberus anyway.
