Yesterday afternoon Luna had found out that Ariadne and Dionysus were coming over when Peitho had walked into the room laughing brightly, phone to her ear, telling one of them that by the time they arrived there would be their desired cocaine, dolmades, and a four-tier raspberry and mandarin cake.
She kissed Luna deeply before leaving again and Luna lunged for her phone on the table. Oh great. This was where Luna put in the six hours of work to make Peitho and Hermes' wishes happen effortlessly.
Well, at least dolmades was easy.
The cocaine took a few calls, but luckily it wasn't the first time they'd wanted coke.
The cake... that was going to take time and money and probably a lot of begging. The first three places she called flat out refused. A four tier-cake in an unusual flavour before tonight? Not a chance, you must be insane.
Yeah, maybe Luna was a little bit insane, but she was also determined. Luna got what she wanted when it was what her gods wanted.
The last bakery she called finally agreed, but only at a hugely inflated cost. That was fine. Money was not the issue here. Making her gods happy was the only important thing.
Half an hour before Dionysus and Ariadne were set to arrive, Luna realised she'd forgotten the fucking dolmades, and in the end the platter of them was set down once they were all already sitting on the floor drinking around the coffee table. It didn't seem like they'd noticed the absence.
In the background, behind the beautiful sprawled gods, Luna sighed with relief and pride, a job well done. And the cake looked completely amazing right up until Dionysus destroyed it.
The next morning she and Peitho had both left early - Peitho seeming unaffected by the night's festivities and Luna having not partaken - and went to film something for a website. Luna loved it when Peitho was directing her. It was genuinely sexy, being told what to do by Peitho, even in the weird false reality of a porn set.
Then Luna was back home to start cleaning up, finding Hermes far more incapacitated than Peitho had been. So she brought him everything he needed, returning now and then to check in.
When she went to answer the door her outfit was a far cry from the sexed-up professional look of the night before, now in black leggings and a Halloweeny top.
Luna checked who it was and saw Henry standing on the other side. Her heart jolted and her mouth opened in surprise. Henry here?? No, that was not good, Henry should not be here, Tinsel's brother should not be here.
But... well, Luna knew he had that whole thing going on with Hermes because of what they'd gone through but- Well, it also made her uncomfortable. She didn't know how long that would last and she'd not seen Hermes have enough 'friendships' with humans to know how they ended. As it was, Luna had been the only human they had kept around on good terms, at least for as long as she'd known them.
But none of this was for Luna to decide.
She opened the door with a blank expression and then, upon seeing Henry on the other side she plastered on a smile of surprise. "Henry? You are not who I expected to see today."
