There's a brittleness there, a vulnerable edge to his voice, and Athena knows she's touched a nerve. She could take an educated guess at which one. She doesn't break his gaze, but perhaps she allows her expression to soften, just a little. "I'm interested in nurture," she says simply, almost gently. "That's why I'm an educator. That's why I'm interested in urban planning. I want humanity to better itself, not destroy itself."
