To be able to walk outside and experience the evening air- Will's face felt almost chilly without its hair cover, but it was exhilarating to just be able to breathe a free air. He settled on a bench on the veranda, looking up at the reds and oranges in the darkening sky.
By the time he was done with his food and his glass of wine and the pill kicking in, he was feeling extremely relaxed. He smiled at Tuck, and raised a toast to him with his glass before he drained the last of it. He'd thought Tuck had given him not enough food when it was dished up, but now actually it was a good amount, and he felt comfortably full, not painfully so.
He closed his eyes for a long time, almost falling asleep, he was so comfortable. He almost missed John coming up the path from the barn with Nottingham, so when he saw them he sat up straight, suddenly remembering they were there.
"Evening," John said, dark eyes flicking to Tuck and back to Will. "You're looking... cleaner." He didn't want to stay and chat. Tuck had made it clear that the first night was completely his, to make sure Scarlet was properly hooked.
Will gave John a tight smile, but it was clearly the Sheriff he was more anxious about, casting furtive glances and avoiding eye contact. "Yes sire."
"Huh, at least he has manners," John commented, raising an eyebrow at the Sheriff. "Good job, Malcolm. Hm." Was that a wine glass? He was going to have to go and investigate that.
